Leave a Legacy ( LAL ) – Public Awareness Initiative


Working Group – Notes – October 24, 2011

Reviewed progress to date and how other areas feel that we are making good
progress. It is incumbent on the program to make sure we can deliver on
promises to partners and do a few things well rather than try to accomplish
many things and fall short.


Agreed it makes sense to have a LEAVE A LEGACY™ champion in each major
community we serve to provide oversight from a regional perspective.
Suggested that we start with members of CAGP-ACPDP to provide them with
an opportunity to get involved.


www.leavealegacyseo.ca goes live on October 28th . All working group members
were encouraged to sign up to be included before they start promoting program
to others.


Two areas requiring focus by working group includes Partnership Promotion and
Media Outreach. Conclusions and next steps include:
Partnership Promotion :


Develop package that can be PDF’d or handed out in hard copy to prospective
partners (most information on hand) – Liz and Colleen – by November 15th


Finalize PPT presentation to be used for group presentations/posting to
websites where appropriate – Liz – by November 15th


Establish Linked-In Account and Face Book Page for local program and list
partners with their logos – Chris Winter – by November 30th


Partners can contact ‘Sister organizations or others they know were interested
in LEAVE A LEGACY™ in the past – all on the understanding they will
communicate that a more formal invitation will likely follow from local program.




Media Outreach :


Start work on regional print insert:
Obtain contact information and forward to Colleen Killorn for EMC – Chris Winter
– by Oct 31st.


Obtain contact information for Osprey media – likely Ron Laurin and pass along
to Colleen Killorn for Whig Standard, Belleville Intelligencer et al. – Liz by
October 31st


Obtain contact information for Performance Printing to determine their ability to
support – Chris to Colleen by October 31st
Start preliminary work on gathering information on prospective
magazines/publications across region i.e. Fifty-five Plus, Watershed Magazine,
Kingston Life etc. – Laura Lee – by January 31st


Provide Ad to Partners for LEAVE A LEGACY™ that they can run in their own
publications – Colleen to Liz by November 30th


Obtain contact information for Radio Stations – Greg Hinton of Bell Media - Liz –
done October 25th – through to Colleen Killorn; Greg willing to communicate with
other stations.*
Colleen to determine through Greg other regional contacts and send sample
PSA


Obtain contact information for TV – Corus, Cogeco,




Other :


Complete Grant Application to National Office for support with relaunch activities
– Colleen Killorn – by November 15th


Identify and approach Regional Champions – at minimum in Brockville,
Belleville, Peterborough, Perth/Smiths Falls, possibly Cobourg approaching
CAGP members first – Liz – by November 15th


Send e-blast to all partners when website goes live October 28th – Colleen – Liz
to forward on to all those from original information luncheon


Send out Right of Use Agreement for LEAVE A LEGACY™ Logo to Partners –
within 30 days of sign up – Colleen Killorn.
Determine which Professional Advisor groups have offices in more than one city
in region i.e. Collins Barrow Accountants, Templeman Menninga Law Firm etc. –
NEED FOR SOMEONE TO COORDINATE


Have list of potential prospects for next working group meeting for partners to
identify those they are willing to follow up with directly – Colleen to provide to Liz
by November 15th

Leave a Legacy ( LAL ) – Public Awareness Initiative Working Group – Notes – October 24, 2011 Attended: Frank Lockington Ron Kelly Bev Anderson Laura Lee Hogan Dawn Harris Kathryn Wright Chris Winter Liz Dobbs Jones Reviewed progress to date and how other areas feel that we are making good progress. It is incumbent on the program to make sure we can deliver on promises to partners and do a few things well rather than try to accomplish many things and fall short. Agreed it makes sense to have a LEAVE A LEGACY™ champion in each major community we serve to provide oversight from a regional perspective. Suggested that we start with members of CAGP-ACPDP to provide them with an opportunity to get involved. www.leavealegacyseo.ca goes live on October 28th . All working group members were encouraged to sign up to be included before they start promoting program to others. Two areas requiring focus by working group includes Partnership Promotion and Media Outreach. Conclusions and next steps include:

Partnership Promotion : Develop package that can be PDF’d or handed out in hard copy to prospective partners (most information on hand) – Liz and Colleen – by November 15th Finalize PPT presentation to be used for group presentations/posting to websites where appropriate – Liz – by November 15th Establish Linked-In Account and Face Book Page for local program and list partners with their logos – Chris Winter – by November 30th Partners can contact ‘Sister organizations or others they know were interested in LEAVE A LEGACY™ in the past – all on the understanding they will communicate that a more formal invitation will likely follow from local program. Media Outreach : Start work on regional print insert: Obtain contact information and forward to Colleen Killorn for EMC – Chris Winter – by Oct 31st. Obtain contact information for Osprey media – likely Ron Laurin and pass along to Colleen Killorn for Whig Standard, Belleville Intelligencer et al. – Liz by October 31st Obtain contact information for Performance Printing to determine their ability to support – Chris to Colleen by October 31st

Start preliminary work on gathering information on prospective magazines/publications across region i.e. Fifty-five Plus, Watershed Magazine, Kingston Life etc. – Laura Lee – by January 31st Provide Ad to Partners for LEAVE A LEGACY™ that they can run in their own publications – Colleen to Liz by November 30th Obtain contact information for Radio Stations – Greg Hinton of Bell Media - Liz – done October 25th – through to Colleen Killorn; Greg willing to communicate with other stations.* Colleen to determine through Greg other regional contacts and send sample PSA Obtain contact information for TV – Corus, Cogeco, Other : Complete Grant Application to National Office for support with relaunch activities – Colleen Killorn – by November 15th Identify and approach Regional Champions – at minimum in Brockville, Belleville, Peterborough, Perth/Smiths Falls, possibly Cobourg approaching CAGP members first – Liz – by November 15th Send e-blast to all partners when website goes live October 28th – Colleen – Liz to forward on to all those from original information luncheon Send out Right of Use Agreement for LEAVE A LEGACY™ Logo to Partners – within 30 days of sign up – Colleen Killorn.

Determine which Professional Advisor groups have offices in more than one city in region i.e. Collins Barrow Accountants, Templeman Menninga Law Firm etc. – NEED FOR SOMEONE TO COORDINATE Have list of potential prospects for next working group meeting for partners to identify those they are willing to follow up with directly – Colleen to provide to Liz by November 15th Please forward any comments, questions and feedback directly to Liz Dobbs Jones.
