The Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partnership aims to enhance specialist training and promote interdisciplinarity through collaboration with various partners and a combined investment of £9 million from three universities. It offers students access to diverse training opportunities, including language teaching, placements, and specialized courses, as well as annual events like conferences and workshops. Governance includes a committee structure involving academic directors, strategic partners, and student representatives to ensure effective management and continuous improvement.

Partners around training, employability and engagement
• To promote the cultural dynamism of our cities and regions
• To leverage funds and resources to increase studentships and
improve facilities
• To enhance access to our libraries, museums and facilities
• To cement the Arts and Humanities at the heart of the
research strategies of our 3 universities who have made a
combined investment of £9m in Northern Bridge

4. Northern Bridge: Training and Development
Individual students will have access to our Consortium’s jointly run:
– Group language teaching
– Placements with partner organisations
– Evolving suite of specialist courses delivered face-to-face and via
Audio-Visual methods
– Student Innovation Forum
Cohorts of students will join their peers annually in one venue for:
– Autumn Conference
– Winter School
– Summer School
– Completion & Leadership Workshop (third-years only)
