The Afghanistan Financial Management Information System (AFMIS) is the centralized system used by the Ministry of Finance and other government agencies for financial operations. AFMIS was originally installed with support from the World Bank to increase accountability in budgeting and spending. It provides system-based budget controls and payment capabilities for all 34 provinces and line ministries. However, the system uses outdated client-server technology from 2006. There is now a need to upgrade to a newer, web-based version (Version 7) to support increasingly sophisticated financial practices and address operational complexities.
