Many organisations struggle to get staff engaging with technology enhanced learning. They also struggle to meet the needs of disabled students in efficient and sustainable ways. The two are not unrelated. Technology can be the most effective way of giving disabled students inclusive resources and experiences and the Equality Act can be a convincing argument for staff to engage.
GARR has deployed a cloud platform (OpenStack), which allows to instantiate IDP on demand. The demand for a new IDP is processed by a workflow based on Puppet recipes that creates a new virtual machine, deploys and configures the “IDP in the Cloud” in few minutes. On the virtual machine, besides the IDP, you can also have the LDAP server and a web interface for e-identities administration. Each IDP will be joined to IDEM Federation, the Federation of Italian Authentication and Authorization Infrastructures for Education and Research.

Cloud operations – the technology supporting medical education in VirtaMed si...Cybercom Poland
Medical intervention is a practical knowledge domain, which means that you need to practice to achieve mastery. However, today we are lucky because “the patients’ role” in the learning process has been taken over, at least in part, by simulators. Thanks to the Connect project, medical science is entering a new revolutionary era in which the physical boundaries of sharing knowledge disappear.
VirtaMed AG, a Swiss company founded by innovators and engineers, produces the most realistic medical training simulators in the world. VirtaMed devices are already used all around the world, mainly in medical centers, hospitals and other facilities involved in training healthcare professionals. The company, which began as a small startup now employs over a hundred people on three continents.
Future medical staff can use original instruments tools to practice their surgical skills before they start performing procedures on patients. Being able to learn under such conditions allows for the practical honing of skills which is of incredible value in modern medicine. The simulators also aid learning by allowing both trainees and teachers to monitor a trainee’s progress and identify areas for improvement.

Action Learning is an approach to solving real problems that involves taking action and
reflecting upon the outcomes. The learning that results helps improve the problem-
solving process as well as the solutions the team develops.
Webanywhere provides e-learning solutions with a focus on open source software
(Moodle and Totara). Serving clients in the UK and internationally, we provide Learning
Management Systems that are customised to their e-learning requirements from
conceptualisation to delivery.
Webanywhere adopts a partner-led approach with our clients to bring solutions that are
tailored to their business needs and help respond to their challenges.
Over the years, we have developed a wide range of Learning Management Systems, from
small departmental platforms to wide-scale projects with over 200,000 users.
4. Moodle is the world’s most popular open-source Learning Management System, allowing
you to easily take your training online. It’s used to create learning platforms in a variety of
environments, both in education and the workplace. One of its key benefits is that it’s
open-source - the software itself has no associated licensing costs. This also lends to its
customisability and configurability - Moodle delivers low-risk, high-security and
high-performance to your e-learning solutions.
As an official partner in the UK, Poland and USA, Webanywhere maintains the highest
quality of service and support. As a result of this, we are the first to try out new features
and can push security releases before they’re released publicly.
Totara is an enterprise-focussed, open-source Learning Management System. It can be
tailored to your specific needs while reducing learning management costs significantly.
Totara does not require any ongoing software-usage fees, making it up to 80% more
cost-effective than competitors’ products. Support is available on an annual subscription
basis which will ensure you always have the latest updates and enhancements.
Webanywhere is a Platinum Totara partner and as a result we play a key role in the global
Totara development and support community. We are authorised to provide the full range
of development services including consultancy, custom configuration and integration,
user journey and theme design, cloud or managed hosting, training and after-sales
support.

6. Medtronic Inc., headquartered in suburban Minneapolis, is the world's 3rd largest medical
device company and employs nearly 49,000 people.
They approached Webanywhere in 2013 with a requirement for consolidating two global
educational sites, Medtronic Academy and Medtronic Connect.
Webanywhere unified the two into Medtronic Academy, allowing healthcare professionals
to learn more about Medtronic’s products and therapies as well as general cardiac topics
through a wide range of media.

A MOOC platform, leveraging a front-end learning portal
based on Drupal CMS and backed with Totara LMS, for a
global medical device company.
Scott Andre, Sr. Program Manager, Learning Technologies
Key benefits of the solution:
Medtronic Academy acts as a MOOC allowing external access to training whilst globally
promoting the Medtronic brand.
The system trains nearly 10,000 internal employees.
A wide variety of media is available to learn from, including social learning and
web 2.0 tools.
Provides a powerful web user experience that doesn’t feel like a standard LMS.
Bespoke system based on open-source software, reducing costs.
“The Medtronic Academy has taken Medtronic’s online global cardiac education to a
whole new level […] Medtronic personnel can focus more attention on content
development and customer-facing initiatives, and less attention on administration.”
7. UCLH is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and provides first-class acute and specialist
services in six hospitals.
They wanted an e-learning platform that was easy to use, accessible from anywhere, and
could help provide high quality training and education to 10,000 employees of varying
nationalities, and IT skills. It needed to provide support, education and training for trainee
junior doctors and nurses, as well as all other existing staff.
Webanywhere created a bespoke Totara LMS solution, including configuration of audience
management and hierarchy setup, creating a platform that was ready to use by staff.

8. Breast Cancer Care provides free support and information for people facing breast cancer.
They have offices in Scotland, England and Wales.
The charity launched their B-Aware campaign in March 2014, which aims at promoting
early detection of breast cancer and improving survival rates in Scotland through the
creation of a team of trained volunteers who will reach out to local communities.
Breast Cancer Care worked with Webanywhere to create an online 2 hour pilot course to
be given to 50 volunteers and health professionals. Webanywhere developed a Moodle
platform and a course using SCORM content including quizzes and custom certificates.
The training portal which hosts the B-Aware online course also has information about
face-to-face training and FAQs.

“We are really excited to have developed such an innovative e-learning project with
Webanywhere and have had a really positive response since it launched. The B-aware

9. RICS accredits 118,000 professionals around the world, and as a global membership
association, they need all their members to have standardised training in order to benefit
from Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
With their international expansion growing, RICS needed a platform to provide and sell
online courses. Webanywhere created a bespoke Drupal storefront integrating with RICS’
existing Moodle sites and login system.
The portal, launched in December, allows RICS to sell their e-learning courses to users
anywhere, anytime. The launch of the store has seen a rise in traffic and positive customer
feedback. The courses are consumed on a network of localised Moodle platforms, meaning
RICS can cross-sell regional products for the first time.

A high profit, low-cost training model.
Localisation of currency and resources for course purchase.
“Our requirements were quite broad in terms of functionality but [Webanywhere]
fulfilled everything on-time and on-budget. The development and support that you get
is excellent value. The new store has kick-started a long term plan to create a
world-class experience delivering online training.”

10. The Medical Protection Society is the world’s leading protection organisation for doctors,
dentists and healthcare professionals. They protect and support the professional interests
of more than 290,000 members around the world.
MPS required a web-based solution to provide e-learning, as well as allow the general
public to purchase courses online. In addition, the solution had to support organisational
members of MPS, allowing them to set up their own user groups and access reporting.
MPS also required the migration of membership data from their existing solution to the
new system.
Webanywhere delivered a combined solution, using Totara LMS as the course
management and delivery system, with a Drupal-powered web store to allow courses
to be purchased directly.
