Rachel Hall-Clifford presented at MIT on September 10, 2008 on the topic of ICT4D (information and communication technologies for development). Her presentation focused on 4 questions: 1) Who generated the idea for a technology product or intervention and why. 2) Does the target population need the proposed product or intervention, and who determines this. 3) Does the target population want the proposed product. 4) How open is the presenter to changing the idea or product based on local input. She then discussed qualitative and quantitative research methods that could be used to answer these questions, including key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and survey instruments.
