Act The Maggot Course
If you want to attend a fun interactive drama course this could be just for you! My name is Ann Marie and
to be honest I didn’t know what to expect on my first day attending and the course. Amy, the so lovely
course instructress, soon had the group of ten or so of us giggling and dispelled any nerves that by the end
of the first session I was hooked and ready for the next week! Each week we reintroduced ourselves and
did relaxation techniques and gradually we were mimicking each others sometimes hilarious attempts at
acting, you kind of had to think on your feet! I would surely recommend this course for improving self
confidence and self esteem. Of course too there was time for a cup of tea and a few biscuits to refuel us! I
definitely made a few new friends as well. I wish to thank Gateway for facilitating the 'Act the Maggot'
course and Amy. -Ann Marie M.
Guest Speaker : Sandra Burke from Walk
In November, Sandra came in and gave us a talk as we were interested in doing something similar with the
Human Rights Enhancement Committee. The purpose of this Committee is to ensure everyone's rights are
upheld. I thought Walk's model of a service user rep could be applicable to Gateway and benefit the organ-
isation. The talk was well delivered and Sandra kindly agreed to forward on some of Walk's policies and
procedures. -Tom
