NEXT DIMENSION IN FLIGHT IN THIS ISSUE
“For once you have tasted flight you will walk
the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for
there you have been and there you will long
to return”
- Leonardo da Vinci
Greetings from all of us at Project Vyoma!
We are a team of engineering undergrads
from RV College of Engineering, Bangalore
passionate about research and development
of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Since
its inception in 2007, Project Vyoma in
association with various corporate
organizations has participated in Aero-
design competitions across the globe and in
various Aero-Expos in India, garnering a good
amount of media attention.

The first autonomous plane of Vyoma
completed its maiden flight.
Salient features of Buraq:
1. Completely made out of balsa wood.
2. Dihedral wing, high payload capacity. 3. Weighs just 2kgs, ready for all
autonomous capabilities.
AUTONOMOUS CAPABILITIES:
1. Return To Launch
2. Way point navigation
3. Auto Stabilize
Drones are the future. They’ll pervade everyday lives in the future. However, control with an
RC is complicated even for experienced pilots because of lack of intuition. Clunky tech = bad
Consumer products
Vyoma looks to provide the solution to this problem. When things are intuitive, they hardly take
time to be learnt. VICon aims to make UAV control more intuitive.
We are currently working on the prototype for intuitive control of UAVs which translates
movement of Human hands about the coordinate axis to movement of aerial vehicle along its
coordinate axes.
Future scope
 Product based development of VICon into a single wearable glove.
 Gesture Based Control of UAVs and their Mechanisms

VYOMA NEWSLETTER | Issue 1 4
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
We at Vyoma indulge ourselves in fun and
recreational activities from time to time.
We explore our sportive side by playing
cricket or football in our free time.
Taking interest in various skill enhancing
activities like kite making, RC boat making
etc is the norm at Vyoma.
KITE MAKING
One of the best ways to relax and have fun.
All team members competed among
themselves in kite making competition.
We had over 5 different kite designs flying in
the air.
PARACHUTE DEPLOYMENT
They say the higher they go the harder they
fall. Well not in our case.
Vyoma’s indigenously designed parachute
deployment system makes sure that the
chances of payload getting damaged gets
harder.
THAT’S ALL FOLKS.
More updates in the
next edition.
REACHING OUT TO THE GODS
We extended our joy of festivities from our
homes to our workshop.
On the occasion of Dasara festival, we
performed Aayudha Pooja to all our tools
and instruments in the workshop.
We invited the faculty of our college to grace
the workshop on this special occasion.
