This document discusses curriculum alignment and consistency in education. It addresses building curriculum-based vocabularies and learning trajectories to improve alignment within and across subjects. Specific examples are provided of how the Dutch curriculum is structured around subject-transcending themes, subjects, cores, and sub-cores. Learning trajectories are proposed to map objectives and content across educational levels. Challenges and possibilities for tools that support consistency and relevance through repositories and improved search capabilities are also discussed.

The document describes the complex process that an IT person would go through to share a video within a company using traditional methods like hard drives and FTP servers. This involves uploading the video, getting approvals, distributing to different teams, ensuring the right codecs are installed, and more. At the end, the person wanting to share the video stops the IT person, realizing there must be an easier way. The document then introduces Wistia as a solution that makes business video sharing easy by allowing users to upload videos in any format and handle the rest.
This Cochrane review evaluated the effects of influenza vaccines in healthy adults. The review included 50 studies with over 70,000 participants. Inactivated influenza vaccines were found to reduce symptomatic influenza by 73% when the vaccine strain matched the circulating strain, and by 44% when matching was incomplete or unknown. Common side effects included soreness at the injection site and muscle aches. Rare side effects like Guillain-Barré syndrome and Bell's palsy were associated with vaccination, occurring in 1-10 cases per million vaccinated. The vaccines had little effect on preventing pneumonia or hospitalization.

This document discusses the changing skills required of journalists in the digital age. It notes new skills like blogging, shooting and editing photos/videos, moderating online discussions, and using various tools to engage audiences. The core of journalism is shifting from objective reporting to facilitating networked conversations and synthesizing the flood of user-generated content and data. Editors must help audiences navigate information overload by adding value through processing, organizing and making content more usable.
This document discusses the evolution of new media from the agricultural age to the current information-communication-media age. It outlines the transitions from Web 1.0 to 2.0 to the emerging Web 3.0, characterized by machine-to-machine interaction and collectively generated content. The document also examines how new media is reshaping individuals, societies, economies, businesses, politics and the future through greater interactivity, digitization, and time-space independence.
News Literacy, Fall 2022: Week 13 LectureSteve Fox
A 1960s presidential debate uncovered that those who listened to the debate on radio thought Nixon won, while those who watched it on television thought Kennedy won. Print journalism can tell stories that don't have great video and require more time, while cable news feels an urgency to always have breaking news even if the stories lack importance. Most Americans still rely on video for news due to advantages like seeing events unfold in real time and developing a shared national experience, but video risks oversimplifying issues and distracting from facts.
Social media, mobile technology, and citizen journalism are converging and transforming traditional news media. Smartphone usage and social sharing of images and videos are enabling everyone to act as reporters by capturing and distributing news. While some see this as threatening traditional media, it is actually increasing total time spent with news. Media companies can embrace this change by utilizing social platforms to source user-generated content and maintain their role as reliable authorities that verify and disseminate news to wide audiences. This convergence of technologies and participatory media is creating new opportunities for both media companies and citizens to connect and evolve the news environment.

This convergence of social, mobile and media presents both challenges and opportunities for the future of journalism.

High performance Serverless Java on AWS- GoTo Amsterdam 2024Vadym Kazulkin
Java is for many years one of the most popular programming languages, but it used to have hard times in the Serverless community. Java is known for its high cold start times and high memory footprint, comparing to other programming languages like Node.js and Python. In this talk I'll look at the general best practices and techniques we can use to decrease memory consumption, cold start times for Java Serverless development on AWS including GraalVM (Native Image) and AWS own offering SnapStart based on Firecracker microVM snapshot and restore and CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint) runtime hooks. I'll also provide a lot of benchmarking on Lambda functions trying out various deployment package sizes, Lambda memory settings, Java compilation options and HTTP (a)synchronous clients and measure their impact on cold and warm start times.

In the realm of cybersecurity, offensive security practices act as a critical shield. By simulating real-world attacks in a controlled environment, these techniques expose vulnerabilities before malicious actors can exploit them. This proactive approach allows manufacturers to identify and fix weaknesses, significantly enhancing system security.
This presentation delves into the development of a system designed to mimic Galileo's Open Service signal using software-defined radio (SDR) technology. We'll begin with a foundational overview of both Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and the intricacies of digital signal processing.
The presentation culminates in a live demonstration. We'll showcase the manipulation of Galileo's Open Service pilot signal, simulating an attack on various software and hardware systems. This practical demonstration serves to highlight the potential consequences of unaddressed vulnerabilities, emphasizing the importance of offensive security practices in safeguarding critical infrastructure.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Essentials of Automations: Exploring Attributes & Automation ParametersSafe Software
Building automations in FME Flow can save time, money, and help businesses scale by eliminating data silos and providing data to stakeholders in real-time. One essential component to orchestrating complex automations is the use of attributes & automation parameters (both formerly known as “keys”). In fact, it’s unlikely you’ll ever build an Automation without using these components, but what exactly are they?
Attributes & automation parameters enable the automation author to pass data values from one automation component to the next. During this webinar, our FME Flow Specialists will cover leveraging the three types of these output attributes & parameters in FME Flow: Event, Custom, and Automation. As a bonus, they’ll also be making use of the Split-Merge Block functionality.
You’ll leave this webinar with a better understanding of how to maximize the potential of automations by making use of attributes & automation parameters, with the ultimate goal of setting your enterprise integration workflows up on autopilot.
