Eton College Forum on the Global Financial Crisistutor2u
The title of this event is ‘No More Business As Usual: How to Avoid Another Financial Crash.’ The 2008 crisis marked a sea-change point. It was a fa ilure on three counts: 1. A failure of oversight from Governments and Central Banks alike, 2. A failure of modeling in not being able to predict the crash and 3. A failure of ideology. Underpinning the crisis was the fundamentally flawed neo-liberal ideologue which has dominated main-stream economic thinking.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

This is Max Tolley. Our top story today, the current economic climate is having a serious effect on modern
day students, with concern expressed about providing for students who are less privileged. We sent our
economic correspondent Patrick Nolan-Rennie to Oldham Sixth Form College to discuss this matter.
Specialist reporter
I visited Oldham Sixth Form College to speak to Bev Beaumont, Assistant Principal of Finance. Her opinion
on the current economic state which affects students in colleges and universities in the Oldham borough.
[Clip of interview]
I also asked her how students could manage their debts whilst at university.

In other news, you may all seem to remember back in secondary we were all dreading P.E lessons, but this
year a lucky few students at Oldham Academy North got to experience the Asian sport that has been
around since 1936. The relatively new sport in Britain is now able to be studied at GCSE grade, in the
Oldham area. We sent our sports reporter, Shenaz Miah, to find out more.
I’m here to speak to Scott Chapman, tutor for P.E at OSFC about the popularity of Kabaddi.

And finally, a Twitter festival or Twestival as its become known is being organised in the town to help
charities achieve their goals. We went out to the streets of Oldham to find out what the locals thought of
the event.
