NASHVILLE, Tennessee (February4, 2014) –The Tennessee Chapterof the HealthInformation
ManagementSystemsSociety(HIMSS) announcedtodaythatitspresident, BrianMoyer,CPHIMS,
FHIMSS has received the 2013 HIMSS ChapterLeaderof the Year Award.The ChapterLeaderof the Year
Awardrecognizes significantleadership,extraordinarycontributionstoHIMSSChapters,the society,and
a commitmenttothe HIT industry. The HIMSSBoard of Directorsapprovedthe selectionof the award
winnersatitsDecember2013 board meetinginOrlando,Fla.
Brian servesasExecutive Vice PresidentandChief InformationOfficerforGAFFEYHealthcare. He isa
serial entrepreneur,havingfoundedandgrownmultiple HealthITcompaniesoverthe past25 years. He
isPresidentof the HIMSSTennessee Chapterandisamemberof the HIMSS ChaptersTaskForce,the
NashvilleTechnologyCouncilBoardof Directorsandthe IT AdvisoryBoardforTreveccaNazarene
University.
Brian hasledthe fast-growingTennessee chapterforthe lastyearand placeda greatdeal of emphasis
on creatingstructure, greaterengagement, accountabilityandmeasurementswithinthe leadership
teamof the chapter. He hosted several leadershipretreats,developedaby-lawsworkinggroup,andled
multiple groupsfocused onchaptergoals.Asa resultof these efforts,the chapterisone of the most
profitable andwell-runchapters,focusedonaccountabilityandstructuredengagements thatledtoa 40
percentgrowthinmembership. UnderBrian'sleadership,acommittedanddedicatedteamof board
membersandvolunteers annuallyproducesthe Summitof the Southeast conference, whichhosts
nearly1000 individualseachyearinNashville,makingitone of the largestHIMSS Chaptereventsinthe
country.
The HIMSS AwardsProgram recognizeslifetime achievement,scholarshipprograms,activitiesor
