installed by NavTech.

The holodeck provides a 3-D, interactive, virtual world in which students are able to become characters

that represent themselves in a virtual world. The holodeckbuilding stands four-stories high and

used in military, government, medicine, psychology, industry and networked entertainment programs,

and are now at the hands of the students at the University of West Florida.

Director of the School of Science and Engineering,Leo terHaar said, “The department may look like it’s

about fancy equipment and exotic labs.” But quickly added, “It’s really about teaching and learning,

scholarship and creativity, service and community.”
