3. Introduction
NewYork City is the biggest city in
the United States. Over 8 million people
live there.
It’s the center of media, art, fashion,
technology, education and entertainment.
NYC consists of 4 parts: the Bronx,
Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten
Island.
There are many famous places: Times
Square, Broadway, Wall Street,
Chinatown, Central Park, The Statue of
Liberty.
6. History of NYC
A long time ago, the territory of NYC was the home of an
Indian tribe called Lenape.
1625 – the Dutch built a small town called New
Amsterdam.Their boss bought the island of Manhattan
for 60 guilders (about $1000).
1664 – the English conquered the city.
7. 18th Century
NYC was very important under British rule.
During the War of Independence, the city was a British
military base.
1776 –The Great Fire of NewYork.
1778 – NYC was the capital of the USA.
8. 19th Century
Many people from other countries
came to live in NYC.
1857 – Central Park was founded.
Brooklyn Bridge was built in 1883.

1904 – the opening of the subway.

1950 - UN Headquarters were built.

the jihadist organization Al-Qaeda crashed two airplanes
into each of the WorldTrade Center towers.
2,996 people died during the attack.
