This document provides instructions for creating a Wordle using pre-determined phrases, frequencies, and colors. It describes copying client template colors into RGB and HEX formats, then copying open-ended responses and frequencies into a table along with the HEX colors. The table is converted to text separated by colons. This prepared text is then pasted into the Wordle website to generate the visualization with the specified phrases, sizes, and colors. The resulting Wordle can be customized and inserted into a PowerPoint presentation along with the phrase counts for verification.

2. There are a few ways to set up Wordles
1. You can enter unadulterated verbatims (unadulterated that is,
except for correcting any spelling errors) and Wordle will “count”
the words and generate a presentation based upon how often each
word appears
2. You can prepare text so that Wordle counts the phrase frequency
by replacing spaces between the words with tildes “~” e.g.
good~overall~response
3. Or, you can provide phrases, frequencies and select colors all at
once
In this presentation, I will demonstrate how to execute #3. The benefit
of using #3 is that you will know all of the client’s colors are used,
there is no additional need to manipulate text or replace spaces with
tildes, and those checking the final product will have an easier time
because they can refer to the open end table.

3. First, to establish colors. WORDLE uses HEX
colors, while we reference RGB colors in order to…
• Determine the colors in hex
format
• Go to: http://www.color-hex.com/
• In the space provided, enter the
abbreviation RGB followed by
the RGB numbers 28, 190, 240,
e.g. RGB 28, 190, 240
• I usually just copy and paste from
slide with the TEMPLATE Colors
• The corresponding HEX code for
the color will be provided, in this
case it is 1cbef0
• Repeat the process for all of the
template colors, and….

• Go to http://www.wordle.net/
• select ADVANCED

10. Copy and paste your block of prepared text into
the 2nd text space
• is prefaced by the words “OR Paste weighted words with hex colors
here”
• Then, enter GO

• At this point you can select the font and Layout (horizontal, vertical,
any which way)
• When it looks the way you want it too, select Open in Window, and
copy, then paste the results into your Powerpoint presentation
