The document discusses tidal energy production from the moon's gravitational pull. Tidal energy has the potential to generate 3000 gigawatts globally but requires a tide height difference of at least 5 meters, found in only 40 sites worldwide. First generation "barrage" tidal power plants work by containing water after high tide and releasing it through turbines at low tide. Second generation designs eliminate the need for barrages and allow energy production on both ebbing and surging tides from tidal stream turbines. While tidal energy has advantages of being renewable, predictable and pollution-free, present technologies are costly to build and maintain and the resource is not fully developed.

Lifting the Corporate Veil. Power Point Presentationseri bangash
"Lifting the Corporate Veil" is a legal concept that refers to the judicial act of disregarding the separate legal personality of a corporation or limited liability company (LLC). Normally, a corporation is considered a legal entity separate from its shareholders or members, meaning that the personal assets of shareholders or members are protected from the liabilities of the corporation. However, there are certain situations where courts may decide to "pierce" or "lift" the corporate veil, holding shareholders or members personally liable for the debts or actions of the corporation.
Here are some common scenarios in which courts might lift the corporate veil:
Fraud or Illegality: If shareholders or members use the corporate structure to perpetrate fraud, evade legal obligations, or engage in illegal activities, courts may disregard the corporate entity and hold those individuals personally liable.
Undercapitalization: If a corporation is formed with insufficient capital to conduct its intended business and meet its foreseeable liabilities, and this lack of capitalization results in harm to creditors or other parties, courts may lift the corporate veil to hold shareholders or members liable.
Failure to Observe Corporate Formalities: Corporations and LLCs are required to observe certain formalities, such as holding regular meetings, maintaining separate financial records, and avoiding commingling of personal and corporate assets. If these formalities are not observed and the corporate structure is used as a mere façade, courts may disregard the corporate entity.
Alter Ego: If there is such a unity of interest and ownership between the corporation and its shareholders or members that the separate personalities of the corporation and the individuals no longer exist, courts may treat the corporation as the alter ego of its owners and hold them personally liable.
Group Enterprises: In some cases, where multiple corporations are closely related or form part of a single economic unit, courts may pierce the corporate veil to achieve equity, particularly if one corporation's actions harm creditors or other stakeholders and the corporate structure is being used to shield culpable parties from liability.

3) Others
4. Changes in Trademark Forms
Reduction in number of forms:
1) In the new Trademark rules the number of forms
has been drastically reduced to 8 from 78
Claim of Usage:
2) Initially the trademark application TM-1
applicable earlier, the applicant was allowed to
claim usage even before the date of filing of
application and it was the prerogative of the
Examiner to call for affidavit of usage.
5. Other Changes:
• Reduction in number of adjournments: Initially, there was
no bar on adjournments but now the parties need to
request for the adjournment along with prescribed fees
and it is further notified that no party shall be given more
than 2 adjournments and each adjournment shall not be
more than 30 days. This will surely expedite the process of
Trademark proceedings.
• Change in Renewal filing: Earlier the applicant was allowed
to file for a renewal of a trademark application only 6
months before the expiry date, however, this has now been
changed to 1 year before the expiry which gives much time
for the applicant to renew the Trademark application
timely.
6. Contd:
• Recognition as a Well-known mark: In previous Trademark
legislation, well known marks were chosen by the court but
in Trademark rules 2017, anyone can apply for recognition
of their brand as well known under rule 124 by payment of
Rs 1 lakh along with the supporting documents, evidences
and statements of case.
• Correction in application will cost you more: Initially the
applicant was able to correct any clerical error in
application by way of filing of TM-16 form, however, now
the fee for any correction request has been increased from
500 Rs to 900 Rs. So be careful about filing of Trademark
Application.
