- this presentation uses data from own research - 4+ years, 5+ universities, 600+ students / millennials existing research sets also 15 minutes is not a lot….so i gotta talk really fast!
- how much time spend on letters? why obviously it depends on topic, kind of letter, language, etc….but in average it takes rather long compared to other forms of communication. therefore we include more words as well. However we don’t send that many letters…as it takes rather long.

- attention span adults: 8 seconds, goldfish 9 seconds - study in 2013 depending on type of attention though. humans are able to refocus luckily (study says for around 20 minutes).
- second screen requires fast switching / thinking switch between devices every 2 - 5 seconds interrupted by ads, friends, tasks….
- Multi-tasking on one device: switch every 19 seconds millennials: 4-8 tabs open on average - study by mozilla
- remember messages? more than 64% of students (millennials) in research said they feel pressure to answer fast because messengers show the other party when a message was read / received.
- speed replies development of new technologies need to adapt reading time for texts: 5 seconds
- in a survey of around >600 students / millennials.
- stats showing amount of messages increases, length decreases thx to cheaper internet connection, more time online.
