New Jersey has a rich history dating back over 10,000 years to the Lenape Native Americans. It played a role in both the American Revolution and World Wars. The state has a diverse climate and terrain, ranging from beaches to mountains. It has a large population and economy, originally driven by mills and industry. New Jersey offers many attractions for visitors, including beaches, universities, state parks, and historical sites that showcase its long history and culture.

Alex Harwell, former UW Masters Student, presented her research on the recovery of KA'QSK, or sweetgrass, at the Nisqually Delta. Sweetgrass is a culturally important plant, so Alex relied on scientific data as well as traditional ecological knowledge.

difference in Climate from Cape May in the South and the
mountains in NorthWest New Jersey. The weather in the winter
can be more than ten degrees Fahrenheit cooler in the extreme
north then the extreme south. The snowfall averages forty to
fifty inches in the northern part of New Jersey when in south
Jersey is averages of only ten to fifteen inches.
