The document is a discussion on LinkedIn among alumni of McGill University about advice for new graduates entering the job market. It contains 12 comments from alumni offering tips which include: networking on LinkedIn and other sites; being persistent and not giving up; keeping an open mind but staying true to your values; never stopping learning; being careful when burning bridges; and remembering your career is just a job and not to bring stress home.
1) The document discusses the importance of networking and increasing one's visibility within an organization through positive engagement rather than gossip.
2) It recommends broadening one's networks across different industries, ages, and locations rather than just within one's own field. Connecting with a diverse range of people can help solve problems that arise.
3) Master networkers surround themselves with people from different backgrounds and areas of expertise who they can learn from and tap into those individuals' own networks when needed.

1. Five common networking mistakes are: not bringing business cards, only networking at formal events, keeping score of favors done, not talking to strangers, and not valuing yourself.
2. Specific tips to avoid these mistakes include always having business cards available, seeing networking as a 24/7 skill not just something done at events, giving help without expectations of return favors, moving out of your comfort zone to talk to new people, and preparing questions to contribute confidently despite less experience.
3. Master networkers view networking as a life skill, treat all contacts with respect, and understand that helping others can indirectly help you through the growth of your overall network.
Gordon Kraft proposes building "Entrepreneur Incubators" around the US to re-educate and retrain unemployed workers, especially from the auto industry, with technical and computer skills. He recommends developing interactive computer-based training courses that can be taken online or using mobile devices. Several commenters agree with the idea and discuss collaborating to develop courseware and retrain workers for other industries like logistics.

It notes that while online communities help young people engage, coordinate, and amplify their campaigns, not all young people are "digital natives" and still need skills, support, and connections to be effective activists. The document suggests organizations looking to engage youth online should listen to where young people are currently participating online and start interactions there.

Do You Know Why Achieving Work/Life Balance is so Hard? We Do! [Survey Results]domain .ME
Being active, engaged and successful is not an easy task. From the moment we open our eyes, until we fall asleep exhausted at night, we seem to confront a never-ending list of urgent tasks: taking out the trash, preparing lunch for our family, rushing to business meetings, checking our email on the fly.
And even when we should be relaxing, we are not. As true representatives of multitasking society we are watching a movie and thinking about what we have left unfinished at work; getting our nails done and nervously tapping our feet, in a constant hurry by default. Ironically, it’s precisely this downtime – most often called ME time – that helps us recharge and face all our responsibilities.
As .ME crew is made of experienced professionals who know all about the challenges of achieving work/life balance, we came to an idea of starting a ME Day movement – a day when we will make time to celebrate our achievements, embrace our uniqueness and put ourselves first. With that in mind, we conducted an informal ME Day Survey that included 753 respondents from the USA. We wanted to see how much time people devote to themselves, to ensure their physical, mental and spiritual well-being!

DevOps aims to solve the problems that arise from deploying and operating software applications. It is difficult because infrastructure issues can occur at any time and require expertise from different domains. Existing collaboration platforms do not fully address the needs of DevOps teams. The document proposes building a platform that leverages principles of continuous partial attention and asynchronous collaboration, as seen on social networks, to allow DevOps teams to more effectively solve problems together across locations and times. Research on remote collaboration and interruptions supports this approach of allowing teams to collectively but flexibly engage with issues as they arise.

5 key differences between Hard skill and Soft skillsRuchiRathor2

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 & 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 💯
In today's dynamic and competitive market, a well-rounded skillset is no longer a luxury - it's a necessity.
While technical expertise (hard skills) is crucial for getting your foot in the door, it's the combination of hard and soft skills that propels you towards long-term success and career advancement. ✨
Think of it like this: Imagine a highly skilled carpenter with a masterful understanding of woodworking (hard skills). But if they struggle to communicate effectively with clients, collaborate with builders, or adapt to project changes (soft skills), their true potential remains untapped. 😐
The synergy between hard and soft skills is what creates true value in the workplace. Strong communication allows you to clearly articulate your technical expertise, while problem-solving skills help you navigate complex challenges alongside your team. 💫
By actively developing both sets of skills, you position yourself as a well-rounded professional who can not only perform tasks efficiently but also contribute meaningfully to a collaborative and dynamic work environment.

Parabolic antenna alignment system with Real-Time Angle Position FeedbackStevenPatrick17
Introduction
Parabolic antennas are a crucial component in many communication systems, including satellite communications, radio telescopes, and television broadcasting. Ensuring these antennas are properly aligned is vital for optimal performance and signal strength. A parabolic antenna alignment system, equipped with real-time angle position feedback and fault tracking, is designed to address this need. This document delves into the components, design, and implementation of such a system, highlighting its significance and applications.
Importance of Parabolic Antenna Alignment
The alignment of a parabolic antenna directly affects its performance. Even minor misalignments can lead to significant signal loss, which can degrade the quality of the received signal or cause communication failures. Proper alignment ensures that the antenna's focal point is accurately directed toward the signal source, maximizing the antenna's gain and efficiency. This precision is especially crucial in applications like satellite communications, where the antenna must track geostationary satellites with high accuracy.
Components of a Parabolic Antenna Alignment System
A parabolic antenna alignment system typically includes the following components:
Parabolic Dish: The primary reflector that collects and focuses incoming signals.
Feedhorn and Low Noise Block (LNB): Positioned at the dish's focal point to receive signals.
Stepper or Servo Motors: Adjust the azimuth (horizontal) and elevation (vertical) angles of the antenna.
Microcontroller (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi): Processes sensor data and controls the motors.
Potentiometers: Provide feedback on the antenna's current angle positions.
Fault Detection Sensors: Monitor for potential faults such as cable discontinuities or LNB failures.
Control Software: Runs on the microcontroller, handling real-time processing and decision-making.
Real-Time Angle Position Feedback
Real-time feedback on the antenna's angle position is essential for maintaining precise alignment. This feedback is typically provided by potentiometers or rotary encoders, which continuously monitor the azimuth and elevation angles. The microcontroller reads this data and adjusts the motors accordingly to keep the antenna aligned with the signal source.
Fault Tracking in Antenna Alignment Systems
Fault tracking is vital for the reliability and performance of the antenna system. Common faults include cable discontinuities, LNB malfunctions, and motor failures. Sensors integrated into the system can detect these faults and either notify the user or initiate corrective actions automatically.
Design and Implementation
1. Parabolic Dish and Feedhorn
The parabolic dish is designed to reflect incoming signals to a focal point where the feedhorn and LNB are located. The dish's size and shape depend on the specific application and frequency range.
2. Motors and Position Control
Stepper motors or servo motors are used to control the azimuth and elevation of

Interesting that this came up because I was at a networking meeting at

When new graduates start their career journey, there is one thing which is
Robert Zackon impossible for them to know; the life experience of their 30's, 40's etc. As we

grow older, it's amazing how our childhood passions become stronger and we

Administration Management
realize that who we are was developed years earlier. Anyone who is older
See all Robert’s activity » knows that the years go by in the blink of an eye, a concept which takes us all
Follow Robert by surprise. We all wish we knew what we know now, earlier. No one can gain
this knowledge by reading a book or taking a course.
With all that said, the best advice for anyone who is starting out is to listen to
their heart and try to figure out what it is saying. This is not an easy task, it
takes a lot of searching from within. Follow your dreams now, because they
will come back again later in life. Don't miss out on this.
