Network Time Sync Solutions
for Security
.
The ability to synchronise security equipment is becoming ever more important.
This is not only for ensuring consistency, but also for evidential purposes.
Digital images captured from CCTV must have legally traceable time and accurate
time and date stamps to be admissible as evidence in court proceedings.
Many existing systems rely on internal PC clocks which drift over a period of time,
becoming increasingly inaccurate.
Other systems use time information available from the Internet, but this allows data
to travel through a firewall, increasing the potential risk of hackers or viruses
obtaining access into the network. Also, there are few or no guarantees that the
information being provided is accurate or reliable.
Meinberg has addressed this by developing systems that provide satellite signals
(e.g. GPS, BEIDOU, GLONASS, etc.) or analogue time code signals (e.g. IRIG-B,
AFNOR, etc.) to the surveillance computer network. This results in a very cost-
effective way to provide legally traceable time.

Optional Time Source GNS - GPS / GLONASS / Galileo / BeiDou Receiver:
The GNSS satellite receiver clock has been designed to provide extremely precise
time to its user. The clock has been developed for applications where conventional
radio controlled clocks can't meet the growing requirements in precision. High
precision available 24 hours a day around the whole world is the main feature of
the new system which receives its information from the satellites of the American
GPS (Global Positioning System), the Russian GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite
System), the European Galileo and the Chinese BeiDou navigation service.
This GNSS receiver can be configured to use up to three GNSS constellations at the
same time: besides GPS and GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo are also available.
The GNSS board has several different optional outputs, including programmable
pulses, modulated / unmodulated time codes and RS232 COM ports, depending
on the hardware configuration.
Satellite receiver for mobile applications:
The GNSS timing board is designed for operating in mobile environments like cars,
trains or airplanes. An optimized active L1 antenna RV-76G with 10 meters coax
cable RG-58 for operation in mobile environment is still available.
The GNSS satellite receiver can determine its position under the following
conditions:
1. an acceleration of up to 5G
2. a speed of up to 500 m/s
3. an altitude of up to 18,000 meters
The variety of inputs/outputs makes this receiver the first choice for a broad
range of applications, including time and frequency synchronization tasks and the
measurement of asynchronous time events.
Technical specifications of the combined GPS / GLONASS receiver:
1. Number of channels: 72
2. Frequency band: L1
