This assessment item relates to course learning outcomes numbers 4 and 6 as stated in the course profile.
This assignment is designed to stimulate critical thinking outside of the classroom by requiring students to write a formal academic report. You will need to follow the AREA process in chapters 2 and 3 of Your Business Degree (COIT20233 textbook) to analyse the assessment task, research relevant information, evaluate the information you find and to write an academic report in which you present your findings or outcomes and make recommendations on future practice. This assessment task will assess your skills in critical thinking, researching information, forming an opinion, academic writing, logical ordering of ideas and your ability to support your arguments with quotes from literature. These objectives will be measured by the ‘closeness of fit’ to meeting the assessment task, assessment requirements and assessment criteria listed below.
Please note that there is a wealth of material available on the Libguide website for this course that you should use to help you gather and evaluate relevant information for writing your report (http://libguides.library.cqu.edu.au/coit20233).
Assessment taskStudents are required to write an academic report as per the format outlined in chapter 5 of the textbook. The report must follow Harvard citation and referencing guidelines. Please note that the prescribed textbook uses APA referencing guidelines. See also the Referencing Style subsection below.
The report is to be based on the following scenario:
Cloud computing is a new information technology (IT) model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage facilities, applications and services for businesses (visit http://www.nist.gov/itl/csd/cloud-102511.cfm for more background details). More and more SMEs (small to medium-sized enterprises) worldwide are adopting Cloud computing to improve their competitive advantages by reducing their IT cost and at the same time increasing IT capability for their businesses. SMEs are considered to be the backbone of the Australian economy, thus not adopting Cloud based services can significantly impact the competitiveness of Australian SMEs to compete globally and may even affect their survival in the future.
You are the ICT manager of an Australian based SME in service industry. Your supervisor has asked you to look at Cloud computing model to minimise the organisation’s IT infrastructure cost and increase its efficiency at the same time. You are required to prepare a report that explores:

Assessment criteria The assessment for this module comprises 100.docxdavezstarr61655
Assessment criteria
The assessment for this module comprises 100% individual coursework and assignment.
Overview
The Assignment requires you to submit an individual 2,000-word essay plus Appendices of 5-12 pages. Failure to use Appendices to provide relevant background and other information, workings and analysis will result in a reduced mark and may result in a fail grade.
The Assignment should contain a reference list, however there should not be a bibliography, meaning that there should not be any references in the reference list not used in the Assignment.
Diagrams, footnotes, tables and references will not be included in the word count. Diagrams, footnotes and tables will only be given reward (in the marking process) if the text of the Assignment refers to them.
Technical requirements
The Assignment must be written in essay format and be word-processed and saved in MS Word or as a pdf.
The Assignment must follow Bradford academic writing conventions for referencing. It must be substantially in the format as provided (including all headings provided, although additional sub-headings may be added).
Assignment aim
The purpose of this assignment is for you to demonstrate your understanding of business ethics and/or sustainability. Each of the assignment has a slightly different focus, however there are opportunities in each assignment to show skills in the application of ethical theories, management of ethical and sustainability issues and stakeholder engagement.
Each of the Assignment options will rely variously on material covered up to Unit 8. All passing papers will need to demonstrate skillful use of materials from Units more relevant to your chosen Assignment, along with relevant articles and research from outside the course materials. Assignments that receive better marks will demonstrate knowledge of materials from all Units and greater depth from outside course materials. .
Background research
Library and Internet sources, as well as internal organisational data should provide the foundation for material for this essay. Engaging in the weekly discussion forums will also help you to write your assignment.
Remember this is not a reflective analysis of the selected organisational issue. Relevant sources of information and literature have to be used effectively to sufficiently justify your analysis and subsequent recommendations. It is important that you read business ethics and sustainability literature including the recommended additional reading materials.
Referencing and appendices
You are asked to prepare a list of references for this assignment. There is often confusion between references and bibliographies and uncertainty over what should and what should not appear in an appendix. Note: there should be no bibliography in the Assignment, only a Reference list.
The appendices should be used to provide research and preparation to provide a basis for the marker to understand the context of your situation and your an.

System Development Life Cycle Research Paper
Purpose of this Assignment
This assignment gives you the opportunity to apply your research skills, analysis, and
critical thinking skills to compare and contrast two different system development life cycle
(SDLC) models. This will provide you an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of
this important IT governance and management tool. This assignment specifically
addresses the following course outcome:
• Identify, define, and explain the concepts of information technology governance and
management.
Assignment
You will conduct some research to learn about the Waterfall Model of SDLC and another
model of your choosing. You will then describe both models and compare and contrast
them. Select one of the SDLC models listed below:
• Spiral Model
• Agile (Extreme Programming) Model
• Evolutionary Prototyping Model
• Iterative and Incremental Model
Research and write a paper that describes the Waterfall Model and your chosen model. Your
descriptions should include each model’s purpose and structure (or characteristics) along
with its strengths and weaknesses. It should describe the types of system development
efforts for which it is most appropriate. Then, compare and contrast your selected model
with the Waterfall Model, covering the criteria shown in Section IV below. Finally, you will
document the conclusions you reached from your research, which may include such things
as which model is "better," when each model should be used, whether one or the other
should not be used, or whether it makes any difference which one is used. The conclusions
are your own and will be assessed according to how well you defend them and how
convincing your arguments are.
Your paper should be structured as follows:
I. Introduction
II. Waterfall Model (description, purpose, structure/characteristics, strengths and
weaknesses)
III. Chosen Model (description, purpose, structure/characteristics, strengths and
weaknesses)
IV. Comparison of the Two Models. Using the table below, choose which model is
better for each of the criteria listed and explain why it is the better choice – enter
your answer in the table column under the appropriate model and leave the
corresponding cell for the other model blank.

Assessment task
Students are required to write an academic report as per the format outlined in chapter 5 of the textbook. The report must follow either the
Harvard citation and referencing guidelines
or
APA referencing style
. Please note that the prescribed textbook uses APA referencing guidelines but the School of Engineering and Technology recommends Harvard style. See also the

subsection below.
The report is to be based on the following case study scenario about Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD).
BYOD refers to the situation where organisations allow their employees to bring their personal mobile devices (such as, laptop computers, tablet computers and smart phones) into the workplace and to use those devices to access the organisations’ Wi-Fi, intranet, organisational information and computer applications. The term BYOD is also used to describe the same practice being applied to students using their personal devices at school or university.
Staff who choose to BYOD argue that it is more convenient for them and makes them more productive in the workplace. Advantages for organisations include the potential for cost savings and increased morale
of their employees.
However, BYOD also brings significant risks. To ensure that confidential organisational information does not end up with their competitors, organisations need to ensure that they have adequate security measures in place. BYOD increases the opportunities for security breaches to occur. For example, family or friends of employees may have access to the devices in the home environment which could allow non-employees to access confidential information. In addition devices may be lost, misplaced or sold (without first removing the sensitive information) which could result in unauthorised access to an organisations’ sensitive data.
Another issue with BYOD is the lack of standardisation. It is hard for technical staff to support a variety of BYODs that all have a range of software applications on them.
You are the ICT manager of a large software development company based in Sydney. Your organisation has a diversified business model that includes mobile application development as well as developing information systems applications for large organisations. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has asked you to research BYOD at your organisation. She is interested in finding out how the use of BYOD could be used to improve its business model both locally and globally over the next five years. She is also concerned about any possible negative impacts on your organisation. You are to write a report to be presented at the next executive meeting. The report should address the following tasks:
1. What are BYODs and how are they currently being used. You should explore a range of applications of BYOD, for example, in areas such as healthcare, education and other software companies.
2. Discuss at least three ways that BYODs could be used to enhance your organisation over the ne.

I. INTRODUCTION
In a company, if data is sent to a wrong destination, the outcome may be fatal for the company. Delayed data may also have dire consequences to the company. To avoid these possibilities, an administrative system is needed to ensure reliable data transfer.
This systems goal is to ensure effective communication between components in the network, and that data transfer is carried out smoothly, ie. Correct data is sent to its correct destination, and at the appropriate time.
Good communication in a company is vital because it contributes alot to its failure or success.
The program will make sure to satisfy the requirements that;
· It will ensure fast transfer of data from one person to another. Data will be sent fast, from one client to the next, or from the server to the client through the sockets set in place to facilitate that.
· It will ensure that data is transferred to its appropriate destination. The destination address will be given while sending data to a particular destination.
· It will have an easy to understand graphical user interface to offer a smooth experience. A GUI will simplify the whole process, and make it easy to manage or supervise.
3
II. AIMS
The system focuses on overseeing data as it travels through the network. The system will be used to transfer data from one node in the network to its appropriate destination. This will ensure that smooth flow of data through the network is achieved.
The system will provide a connection between all the nodes in the network to the server, and to each other, thus enabling reliable data transfer. Data moved will be monitored, and successfully transferred to its destination goal.
Doing this will strengthen the communication infrastructure in the company, contributing to its growth.
This system will be achieved by using sockets to connect all the client nodes to each other, and to the server. This will be used in ensuring that data is efficiently transferred to where it is supposed to, in appropriate time.
4
III. CONCLUSION
In order to achieve this smooth flow of data in the network, this system is needed. Implementing this will ensure strong communication between all the client side components and make sure that data is sent to the right node in the network.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Objectives
Your company is currently investigating the use of Linux. Your manager has asked you to
research the feasibility of using Linux in both the server and workstation environments (from the
operating system point of view). Your manager would like to see an 8- to 10-page paper that
1. compares and contrasts Linux server and Linux workstation OS products between three
separate and distinct Linux distros (i.e., RedHat, SuSe, Ubuntu ); and
2. addresses the specific issues of total cost of ownership, training, support, performance,
reliability, and application availability.
Guidelines
The following is a list of guidelines for your Course Project, due in Week 6.
The Course Project is worth 150 points and is comprised of the following deliverables.
o Week 3: Outline (35 points)

The paper shall only address business requirements and concerns, not personal or home
use of Linux.
The paper shall address three different Linux vendors, along with each vendor’s specific
server and workstation product.
2. Each comparison or contrast item should include each of the three specific vendors—for
both server and workstation products.
The primary emphasis on grading will address comparison and contrast items; however,
you must still provide references and cite your work throughout the paper.
All DeVry University policies are in effect, including the plagiarism policy.
Use each week’s lecture, reading assignments, labs, and discussions as guidance and
supporting information for your paper.
APA formatting is required for your paper.
The paper shall be your individual and original work. This is not a team project.
The paper is intended to be a professional document.

3. The following are best practices in preparing this paper.
Start your research as early as possible, preferably in Week 1.
Use academic and professional journals, magazines, nonbiased websites, and so forth as
the foundation for your references. Extensive use of vendors’ literature for evaluating its
products will usually result in a biased perspective.
Create a functional outline before you begin to write your paper. Use it as your guide
while writing to maintain proper organization and cohesion. And yes, it is okay to refine
your outline as you write your paper.
