Q32. If you were asked to describe the most valuable and thought-provoking components (activities, readings, ideas, or discussions) of this course,
what would you say?
Count Percent
19 100.00%
Count Percent
1 5.26% activities and workshop (Teejay and Olivia) along with the readings and discussions was the
perfect storm and I feel that all were necessary to promote my own personal
growth/understanding.
1 5.26% All the readings were very profound and necessary in the progression of this course. Having
speakers come in was very exciting and helpful. Sitting in circles was great because even if
someone is shy it stretched them to be able to speak and be confident as the days went by.
1 5.26% Although the reading was exhaustive, it was necessary. The personal stories definitely
enhanced everything.
1 5.26% Definitely the reading because they allowed for self-reflection
1 5.26% Discussions - despite some of the quieter moments, I thing I learned a lot from the
conversations. Having each group discuss questions for the entire group was also useful
Journals - processing things in writing was helpful! Small groups - usually, I hate working in
small groups but I think I will miss this component the most
1 5.26% discussions (reading groups) and journal-ing. At the end of the day, it was nice to write out
what I could take away from the class and helped me put together my thoughts.
1 5.26% Discussions were the most valuable component of this course because I was able to be an
active listener while hearing the opinions of others. It was especially useful in seeing
concepts from various perspectives and I'm really grateful for that.
1 5.26% I think the activities were most thought-provoking and really helped me grasp my identity
more.
1 5.26% I think the discussions were the most valuable parts. The reading were great but you can
only learn so much self-reflecting. The discussions allowed me to articulate and form my
thought and to to further digest and process the information
1 5.26% the activities really put everything in perspective when no one would stand or everyone
would stand or having the open discussions and learning all the different students share
their stories, idea, feelings, etc. VERY POWERFUL
1 5.26% The activities that have you look at your own identities in the context of social and political
scenarios. Also, having unstructured discussions with our groups about the readings really
led to some great conversations.
1 5.26% The activities were really interesting and fun which kept me engaged. The readings and
discussions were the most thought provoking because some of them I did not agree with but
tied to keep an open mind and not judge
1 5.26% The activity where we shared a poem, short story , picture that evoked emotion stemming
from our identities
1 5.26% The exercises and specifically the creative one. I had to get out of my head and approach it
from somewhere else.
1 5.26% The meeting we had with the people in the same subordinate group
1 5.26% The most valuable would be the discussions
1 5.26% The readings and discussions! All of the readings were relevant and the discussions were
helpful in debriefing those.
1 5.26% -walls -privilege -biases
1 5.26% What I valued most from this course was hearing all of the personal stories because I felt
they put many of the aspects of identity into perspective
19 Respondents

a safe place

stifled or superficial. With range of knowledge - I learned so much! Challenging without
zapping - the environment was welcoming but we were challenged to think differently
