This document provides an overview and summary of the logistics technology sector. It discusses key investment trends such as major funding rounds for companies like Instacart and DoorDash. The document also summarizes exit outcomes, notable investors, and subsectors within logistics tech such as parcel delivery and freight. Finally, it lists several prominent companies within the sector including unicorns like Instacart and Swiggy as well as acquired companies like Fleetmatics and Intelligrated.
This document describes a new technique called "IRONSQUIRREL" for encrypting browser exploits during delivery to prevent their analysis and leakage. It uses elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman key exchange to encrypt the exploit code between the server and client browser. This makes the exploit non-replayable and difficult for reverse engineers to analyze from network traffic alone. The document provides details on how IRONSQUIRREL works and recommendations to further obstruct analysis through techniques like one-time URLs, anti-debugging, and obfuscation.
The document provides a map of global online travel agencies (OTAs) including basic OTAs, comparing sites, and neo OTAs. It shows the growth trends of different types of OTAs over time in the US/Europe and ASEAN countries. Key details include the oldest and largest OTAs, major exits through IPOs and acquisitions, and the relatively fewer but growing number of OTAs launching in ASEAN countries in recent years with some receiving funding.
This document describes Demetra, an open banking platform created by NTT DATA. Demetra aims to anticipate users' personal and professional needs by offering innovative financial services. It allows banks and financial institutions to integrate new services required by the PSD2 directive, such as payment initiation and account information services. Demetra provides a wide range of APIs and services for customers, merchants, and banks to enable open banking features and digital experiences across mobile and web applications. The platform roadmap outlines ongoing development of additional services through 2018, including blockchain integration, PSD2 compliance, and analytics/personal financial management capabilities.
A decades-old dream is on the verge of coming true. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) will hit the road as early as 2017, when several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and technology companies plan to launch pilot projects or roll out commercial vehicles with varying levels of self-driving capability. Mass adoption of self-driving technology will deliver tremendous economic benefits. But it will also disrupt business as usual for a wide variety of companies, including OEMs, mobility providers, and component makers. The coming AV era raises urgent questions for executives of these companies: What is the cost of these technologies and what are consumers willing to pay for them? How fast will mass markets adopt AVs and how might car sharing and societal shifts impact these introductions? What technological challenges must be overcome to enable fully autonomous driving? Where should OEMs and new entrants focus their R&D investments? And how should players in the AV market address consumer concerns around safety, lack of control, and the risks of faulty technology?
This document discusses the on-demand taxi app business. It provides an overview of the industry, top players like Uber and Lyft, how on-demand taxi apps work by matching riders and drivers, and the benefits of developing an on-demand taxi booking app for businesses. Developing such an app requires research, understanding competitors, determining MVP features, planning the app, and integrating payment and other common features. The total cost to develop basic iOS and Android apps usually starts at around $7,000.

Variable Recurring Payments (VRP): The Latest Open Banking Development in the UKaccenture
VRP (variable recurring payment) is a new Open Banking payment method that allows recurring payments of variable amounts from a bank account. It offers benefits over direct debit like faster settlement and more payment flexibility. VRP can be used for sweeping funds between accounts, subscription payments, bill payments, and more. While initially mandated only for sweeping, VRP has the potential for many other use cases that could generate new revenue streams. Ecosystem players should explore commercial opportunities and work together to develop VRP standards and address risks.

Uber uses dynamic pricing, also called surge pricing, where fares are adjusted upwards during periods of high demand to incentivize more drivers to meet rider demand. This strategy allows Uber to maximize supply and demand but has faced challenges from regulators limiting fare increases and from competitors. While Uber has yet to be profitable, its losses are decreasing as it grows and updates its pricing approach, such as showing quoted prices instead of multipliers, though customers still sometimes object to perceived price increases during surges.

SparcMotors is a startup electric vehicle company that provides its global market of commuters with a personal transportation solution that can conceal itself by taking an alternative form of disguise. We have created small electric vehicles that are able to be folded to conceal themselves as a small piece of luggage or a briefcase. SparcMotors strives to create products that truly lower the overall impact on the environment.
We are currently in the seed funding stage and our mission is to create and provide commuting solutions by the means of personal transportation that allows for fast, efficient, and sustainable commuting while being manufactured in a manor that utilizes organic based materials and new additive processes that minimize the overall environmental impact. Officially founded in January 2015 by Jonathan Peace, a graduate of Industrial and Transportation Design from Art Center College of Design, SparcMotors has been in development since the spring of 2013 with having financial support and sponsorship from several large corporations, which include General Motors, Michelin, HP, Oracle, Autodesk, and Siemens.
SparcMotors is driven to create products that solve problems that are not thought of as problems yet. With products designed for a target market that consists of commuting individuals and employees/staffs of large corporations and government agencies that have to commute to their destination. The products provided are single person electric vehicles that have on-board cargo space roughly the same size as a standard briefcase and can be folded to be concealed as rolling luggage for when the product is being towed, indoors, or stowed for charging. The product is currently in prototype development and final production design phase.
Andrew Awad presented on the connected fitness company Peloton. He discussed Peloton's target demographic of busy millennials, its connected fitness products like the Peloton bike and treadmill that offer live and on-demand classes, and its subscription model. Financially, Peloton had a $8.1 billion IPO in 2019 and sees revenue from both device sales and monthly subscription fees. While Peloton faces competition from companies offering at-home and digital workouts, Andrew believes Peloton will continue growing due to its large user base, celebrity partnerships, and increased interest during the COVID-19 pandemic.

INTERFACE, by apidays - Break up Monoliths and lay them to REST! by Arun Nar...apidays
This document discusses strategies for breaking up monolithic applications and transitioning to microservices. It outlines two main strategies - strangling the monolith by adding new features in microservices while maintaining the monolith, or building a parallel new product. It then provides details on various approaches within these strategies, such as identifying seams to separate components, developing a common governance model, and starting small by extracting simple services before undertaking a larger "big bang" migration. The document emphasizes that architectural design should come before the technical implementation and that a bite-sized iterative approach relying on automation helps reduce risk when defeating the monolith.
