1. NATURAL DISASTERS
A flood is an overflow of water that
submergens land, floods can also occur in
river when flow exceeds the river channel.

2. In October 2011 a
flood damaged a lot of
houses in the city of
Genoa and in the area
of Val di Vara. The
floods occurred after
many hours of heavy
rain and terrify a lot of
people. I t was an
unexpcted occurence.

3. These dramatic floods caused the death of twenty
people, in the town of Brugnato the river was full
of water and it blow away trees, cars, plants and
houses, in few minutes this area was destroyed.

4. In the city of Genoa a lot of shops and supermarkets were damaged.
The last dangerous floods in Genoa occurred in 1970 and caused
the death of 44 person, in the same area of the flood of 2011. It was

5. The day after the floods people from everywhere
went to Genoa and Val di Vara to help the
population to rebuild their houses.

6. After the flooding, schools were closed and
newspapers criticised the local government
because they didn’t prevent the disaster and they
didn’t provide to clean the river.
