National Youth Day is celebrated annually in India on January 12th to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In 1984, the Government of India declared Swami Vivekananda's birthday as National Youth Day to inspire Indian youth with his philosophy and ideals. On this day, various centers of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission celebrate with religious ceremonies, worship, discourses, and songs to honor Swami Vivekananda and his teachings. The day aims to encourage India's youth to become responsible citizens and promote a simple, healthy lifestyle while conserving energy and protecting the environment.
