OBJECTIVES: The National Technology Day aims to remind people of the country’s scientific achievements. This day is to celebrate all those who have contributed to the advancement of science. National Technology Day is celebrated across India on 11 May to commemorate India’s scientific advancement. On 11 May 1998, India successfully tested nuclear bombs in Pokhran. Events are held to celebrate the day and recognize technological advances in multiple areas. National Technology Day honors the efforts of everyone who has contributed to the advancement of our country’s technology. National Technology Day is celebrated by the scientific community every year on May 11, 2022. Everyone will gather to enjoy the event and recognize the accomplishments. Smt. A. Like technology itself, it is a pathway to the future. Today we celebrate the achievements of some of our best scientists and innovators, and their success in shaping technology into usable, commercial products and processes that change the lives of people.” She also stressed on India’s graduation from a centre of jugaad – small, incremental change or essentially a cut-and-paste approach to technology to one that is proud of its frugal and low-cost innovations. The day commemorates the achievements of engineers and scientists in the field of science and technology. During the ongoing pandemic times, the day holds a special significance. Modern technology has emerged as the key to saving human lives today through inventing COVID-19 vaccines or instruments for artificial oxygen for patients counting their breaths.
