2. ABOUT NATIONAL SKILL
FOUNDATION OF INDIA (NSFI)
 National Skills Foundation of India is a not-for-profit Foundation
registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882 and is primarily focused
on the objective of skill building and development of vocational
opportunities for India’s large but relatively “unskilled” .Empower
people for sustainable livelihoods through skill development.
 NSFI is one of the leading organizations in the field of skill
development and capacity building and works on the following
major sectors. NSFI is providing demand driven skill development,
training facilities, career consultation, and course content for
enhancing skill levels of the population.

3. AIM OF NSFI
“Empower people for sustainable
livelihoods through skill development”
 Build knowledge base through research and development leading to policy
formation and/or reforms.
 Address employability and sustainable livelihood concerns.
 Build capacity amongst the urban & rural youth, farmers, small vendors,
women entrepreneurs and workers in unorganized sector through demand
led training programs.
 Integrate and collaborate with the key stakeholders on an ongoing basis to
find meaningful solutions around skill development.
 Provide demand-driven skill development, training facilities, career
consultation, curriculum development in line with industry, etc for
enhancing skill levels of the population.
 Promote agricultural entrepreneurship and support development of Agri-business,
food parks, Agriculture Export Zones.

4.  Enable farmers, small and medium retailers and processors to be part
of the global and domestic supply chains.
 Impart pre and post harvest scientific agricultural practices to
farmers, including global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices).
 Impart training in basic courses of our core sectors, awareness about
different types of services, customer satisfaction, life skills, soft
Skills, personality development.
 Impart knowledge on spot markets, future markets and develop
international marketing linkages in commercial horticulture.
 Facilitate small vendors / processors and farmers to reap the benefits
of modern warehousing, distribution and logistics.
 Enable small rural entrepreneurs to take up distribution and services
as their livelihood through successful business model.
 Create awareness amongst farmers and small entrepreneurs about the
different schemes of the Central and State Governments and assist
them in participating Government Schemes.

6. PAST RESERCH EXERCISE
UNDERTAKEN
 NSFI has completed a base line study on best model on livelihood promotion
for backward districts of Sonbhadra (U.P.) for FICCI. This was highly
acknowledged and henceforth, a skilling project has been undertaken for
implementation. Other researches / publications include:
 Dairy value chain study in Dhaulpur district of Rajasthan for national dairy
development board
 Knowledge report on “Skill development in Indian agriculture” in association
with YES Bank
 Knowledge report on “Revitalizing Indian agriculture – A road map” for
development of agri business in India in association with YES Bank
 Policy recommendations on “Transformational changes in Indian agriculture:

7. CURRENT SCENARIO
Providing demand-driven skill development, training facilities,
career consultation, curriculum development in line with industry,
etc for enhancing skill levels of the population. Training in basic
courses of our core sectors, awareness about different types of
services, customer satisfaction, life skills, soft Skills, personality
development, IT skills, communication skills, work place
expectations & WIRE (Work place Integrity & Related Ethics),
accounting, business development, etc. Imparting pre and post
harvest scientific agricultural practices to farmers, including Global
GAP (Good Agricultural Practices).
Create awareness amongst farmers and small entrepreneurs about the
different schemes of the Central and State Governments and assist
them in participating Government Schemes.

12. MAJOUR ACHIVEMENTS
AND OUTCOMES:
 NSFI organized fourNorth East Connects to showcase the Agriculture and
Allied Sector potential of North East in four metro cities. The conference
focused on Agriculture, Allied Sector, Horticulture, Organic Farming and
Food Processing.Market Linkage NEC.
 NSFI also helped organise 6 Farm produce linkage programs (November
‘11 to March ‘12) in NCR which enabled :Farmers and entrepreneurs of
North East to connect directly to the end consumer.
 NSFI organized one day Seminar at Jammu & Kashmir (April‘13) on
“Awareness on National Mission on Food Processing (NMFP) & Capacity
building of Entrepreneurs.”
 Organized the 4th Indian Horticulture Congress, November 2010 in
association with Horticulture Society of India which is the biggest
conference in Horticulture sector involving Academia, Government of
India, Industry and Farmers.

 Organized Global Agri Connect 2011 – Conference cum Agri Exhibition
with the theme of “Transformational Changes in Indian Agriculture: The
Next Decade”
 Organized Global Agri Connect 2012 – Conference cum Agri Exhibition
with the theme of “High Value Agriculture: A Gateway to Farm Prosperity”
 Organized Global Agri Connect 2013 – Conference cum Agri Exhibition
with the theme of “High Value Agriculture: A Gateway to Farm Prosperity”
 NSFI successfully organized the Krishi Ghosthi for 40,000 farmers over
three days in Global Agri Connect, 2013 and achieved its objective of
bringing together Progressive Farmers.
