A New Jersey educator with more than 20 years of experience, Rita O’Malley most recently served as an educational psychologist and consultant with the Woodbridge School District. A PhD student at Northcentral University since 2015, Rita O’Malley is pursuing a doctoral degree in education. Outside of her academic work, she volunteers with the National Centre for Padre Pio in the USA. Also known as Saint Pius of Pietrelcina, Padre Pio was an Italian Franciscan Capuchin who lived from 1887 to 1968. In 2002, Pope John Paul II canonized him as a Catholic saint in recognition of his exceptional works of charity and love. The National Centre for Padre Pio in the USA, located in Barto, Pennsylvania, invites visitors to pray and honor the saint at various historic and informational sites. Constructed with inspiration from Padre Pio’s friary in San Giovanni Rontondo, Italy, the center features Our Lady of Grace Chapel, an inspiring sanctuary featuring Franciscan artwork and historically accurate Franciscan details. Visitors can also view authentic Padre Pio artifacts such as the bandages that covered his stigmata wounds in the center’s museum and cultural center.
