1) Manapao Elementary School held a 5-day in-service training for teachers from February 6-10, 2023 to provide continuous learning opportunities. 2) Various topics were covered over the 5 days including classroom management, teaching strategies in different subjects, addressing learning difficulties, and wellness programs. 3) Teachers demonstrated best practices and shared instructional materials, while speakers provided informative sessions on interventions, remedial strategies, and bridging learning gaps. 4) The principal concluded that the successful training equipped teachers with knowledge and skills to improve teaching and learning, and that the greatest asset is the personality of teachers.

2023 SCHOOL-BASED IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS’
NARRATIVE REPORT
Every new day is another opportunity of new learning thus, no one is exempted from it
unless you say I don’t!
Teachers are individuals who practice continuous learning. This is the reason why In-
Service Trainings were developed. Manapao Elementary School is one of the schools that
prioritize development for teachers. Hence, Manapao ES held its INSET last February 6-10, 2023.
The first day of INSET started with an opening program. The singing of the Philippine National
Anthem was conducted by Mr. Timmy John L. Orpiana. This was followed by a prayer led by
Mrs. Felipa F. Bismonte. Our school principal Mrs. Celeste E. Rivero, welcomed everyone in the
said training through her opening remarks she gave a short orientation about the background of
the training and she assured everyone who was present in the seminar that each will be equipped
with enough knowledge about the topics prepared by the speakers. She encouraged full
participation of every participant to make this year’s In-Service Training a successful one.
The first topic was “Classroom Management” delivered by our school principal Mrs.
Celeste E. Rivero she discussed that in a flexible learning environment, teachers promote active
learning by creating engaging and effective situations. The second topic was Strategies and
techniques in Teaching Beginning Reading discussed by Mrs. Marivic D. Lopez followed by the
topic Child Development discussed by Mrs. Catherine G. Guasis. Lunch break declared at exactly
12:00 noon and session resumed at 1:30 PM.
The fourth topic for the day was Concept of Numbers shared by Mrs. Regine G. Graza
followed by the last topic Estratehiya sa Pagtuturo ng Wikang Filipino discussed by Mr. Mark
Anthony C. Dubas. The first day was a successful one as the speakers delivered each topic well.
In the second day, the training was started with a prayer, MOL and to boost participant’s
energy, the Kinder grades 1 and 2 teachers, the host and officer of the day’s activities gave an
energizer all participants having fun doing the dance steps following the video showed. After such
preliminaries the session started with the topic Common Math Difficulties discussed by Mrs.
Eloisa D. Penales followed by The Art of questioning shared by Mr. Mark Anthony C. Dubas.
Pagtuturo at Pagkatuto ng Pagsulat sa Baitang 4-6 discussed by Mrs. Felipa F. Bismonte.
Afternoon session began with an energizer led by Ms. Ednelyn Tatualia to awaken the participant’s
sleepy nerves. followed by the topic Teaching Strategies and Techniques in English (4 Pronged
approach) discussed by Mrs. Veronica V. Gavino followed by Mr. Timmy John L. Orpiana and
discussed about Teaching Strategies and Techniques in English (Differentiated Instruction,
Explicit Teaching).
Truly, the second day of the training was packed of informative ideas and activities. It was
a day full of knowledge and encouragement from the resource speakers. As what St. Jerome said
“good. better, best never let it rest ‘til your good is better and your better is best” just go on, explore
more and learn more.
At the third day, the training was continued through preliminary activities, a short prayer
by Mrs. Eloisa D. Penales, an enjoyable MOL and an energizer led by the host and officers of the
day, the grade 3 & 4 teachers.
The first topic Reinforcing Effective Literary Intervention was discussed by Mrs. Veronica
V. Gavino followed by Math Interventions for Struggling Students shared by Mr. Gilbert P. Sto.

2. Tomas after the short break Mr Owenjan D. Laynesa discussed Remedial Reading Strategies and
Techniques. At 12:00 noon we took our lunch break and back at 1:30 pm. The afternoon session
starts with the topic Bridging the Learning Gaps to Improved Teaching and Learning discussed by
Mrs. Marivic D. Lopez followed by the Note Reading and Music Activities discussed by Mr.
Gilbert P. Sto. Tomas. Everyone was actively involved in the workshop and enjoyed every minute
of the day. The third day ended with a fruitful collaboration and sharing of ideas.
The fourth day activity ran smoothly. That was hosted by Grade 4 and 5 teachers. Almost
everybody was already in the school at seven o’clock in the morning and earlier. The day started
with physical fitness to waken up the sleeping muscles of the participants. Morning session is
intended for the demonstration teaching there are 3 teachers who showcase their skills and talent
in Teaching Mrs. Sharon Florenda, Mr. Owenjan D. Laynesa and Mrs Regine G. Nitura are the
demonstration Teachers. In the afternoon session Mrs. Sharon M. Florenda discussed about Wash
in School Program followed by the preparation of Instructional Materials shared by Mrs. Rosalie
B. Fragata.
The fourth day activities were done successfully and the participants going home with a
bunch of useful ideas from our very efficient speaker.
In the fifth and last day, the training was started with a short prayer followed by MOL and
an energizer prepared and hosted by Grade 6 Teachers. The first topic was Teachers Wellness
Program delivered by our Principal Mrs. Celeste E. Rivero. She challenged all the participants to
utilized and apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in the 5 days training and hoped that
every single idea they learned will not die to its natural death. She quoted further that the most
essential ingredient in learning is a great teacher.
It was indeed a fruitful and successful Five-day In-Service Training for all the teachers of
Manapao Elementary School. All together, we learned that if learning materials is designed to be
highly relevant and delivered in context then it is likely to be useful. Education is our passport to
the future, for tomorrow belong to the people who prepare for it, and the greatest asset of every
school is the personality of the teachers.
