I gave a speech about the Giving Tree for the Toastmasters Stortelling Manual, project# 1. This was one of my favorite stroies as a kid and I shared it with my own kids (thanks to a gift from my youngest sister. I gave the speech once at my home club and once at a club in Frankfurt Germany.

Purbararang tried to undermine Purbasari further but Lutung Kasarung transformed into a handsome man, proving himself a better match than Purbararang's fiance to become the new queen.

The boy finds a large, narrow tree in his backyard and carves his name into it. He spends time climbing the tree and sitting under it. A year later, he sees bark on the ground and wonders if he should play on the tree again. When he returns home from school, the tree has fallen down in a storm. Sadly, the boy cries as the tree is removed. He plants a new smaller tree in its place and hopes it will provide happy memories for his kids as well.

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday. He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow…he loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by…the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. "Come and play with me” the tree asked the boy. "I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more” the boy replied.
“I want toys. I need money to buy them.” “Sorry, but I do not have money… but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.” The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited “Come and play with me” the tree said. “I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” “ Sorry, but I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.” So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted. "Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” said the man. "Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.” So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.
Finally, the man returned after many years. "Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you …” the tree said. "No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite" the man replied. "No more trunk for you to climb on” “I am too old for that now” the man said. "I really cannot give you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots” the tree said with tears. "I do not need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years” the man replied. "Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest, Come, come sit down with me and rest.” The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears…

Snow White escapes into the dark forest where she meets three dwarfs. They allow her to stay with them. Meanwhile, the queen devises a plan to poison Snow White with a poisoned apple. She succeeds in poisoning Snow White but the prince's kiss breaks the spell. Snow White and the prince live happily ever after while the queen meets a grim fate.

- 1. A Boy and an Apple Tree
- 2. Once upon a time, there lived a big apple tree and a boy who liked to play around under the apple tree everyday. He was happy to climb up to the top of the tree, eat the fruit, a nap in the shade of the shade leaves. The boy loved the apple tree. Similarly, the apple tree is very love little boy too.
- 3. Time flies. The boy had grown big and no longer playing with the apple tree every day. One day he went to the apple tree. His face looked sad. “Come over here and play with me,” said the apple tree.“I’m not a little kid playing with the tree again,” replied the boy.“I want to have toys, but I’m not having money to buy it.”The tree replied, “Sorry, but I did not have money … but you can take all of my fruit and sell it. You can get the money to buy toys. “ The boy was very happy. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. However, after that the boy never came back. The tree was sad again.
- 4. One day the boy returned again. Tree was so excited.“Come play with me anymore,” said the apple tree.“I do not have the time,” replied the boy.“I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Will you help me? ““Sorry, but I don’t have a house. But you can cut down all of my branches to build your house”, said the apple tree. Then the boy cut all of the branches and twigs that apple tree and left happily.The tree was also felt happy to see the boy happy, but the boy never came back again. The tree was lonely and sad again.
- 5. One hot summer day, the boy returned again. The tree was delighted.“Come and play again with me,” the tree said.“I’m sad,” said the boy.“I’m old and want to live in peace. I want to go on vacation and sailing. Will you give me a boat to cruise? ““Sorry, but I don’t have a boat, but you may cut my trunk and use it to create a ship that you want. Go sailing and have fun. “Later, the boy cut the tree trunk and makes a dream ship.He then went sailing and never again came to the apple tree.
- 6. finally, the boy returned again after all these years later.“I’m sorry my son,” said the apple tree.“I do not have apple for you anymore.”“It’s okay.
