Alex Zhou was introduced to piano at age four and has been playing it passionately ever since, finding it extremely useful for his current work in music production. In middle school, he learned clarinet because it looked fun and versatile, coming to love its charming tone. In grade 7, he took up tenor saxophone after being drawn to its soothing sound in his school band. Additionally, he enjoys composing hip-hop beats as a hobby and uploading them to his YouTube channel.

2. Piano was introduced to me
when I was four, immediately
in love with the crisp, piercing
sound it produced. Ever since
then, I’ve been playing this
instrument; it is a huge part of
my life and to this day, I still
practice with passion.

3. Piano playing proved to be an extremely useful skill for me
currently, as a lot of it is used in music production, in which I
am experimenting with.

4. In Grade 6, I saw many of my
friends join the middle school
and I decided to give it a shot and
try out a new instrument. I picked
the Clarinet as it looked fun and
versatile (for a piano player the
versatility was completely new).
I immediately began to love this
instrument. The way I was able to
blow into it to hear its charming
tone was absolutely captivating.
My clarinet ended up
accompanying me in many school
concerts!

5. After being a part of a band for a
year, I discovered the soothing tone
of the Tenor Saxophone. In grade
7, I decided to adopt this
instrument. Thus, the saxophone
became a new member of my
life.
The Saxophone is now
the main instrument I
play for my high school
band.

6. On the side… I have a hobby of
composing Hip-Hop beats and I
upload the finish product to a
YouTube Channel I created with a
friend!
