The focus of this lesson is reading informational text. Students will use
information from illustrations and words in the text of A Medieval Feast by Aliki
to demonstrate understanding of the text.
Classroom and Student
Factors/Grouping:
Describe the important classroom factors (demographics and environment)
and student factors (IEPs, 504s, ELLs, students with behavior concerns, gifted
learners), and the effect of those factors on planning, teaching, and assessing
students to facilitate learning for all students. This should be limited to 2-3
sentences and the information should inform the differentiation components
of the lesson.
This classroom of thirty students consists of 14 boys and 16 girls. There are four
English language learners, five students with IEPs or 504 plans, and three
students with a gifted classification. Additionally, six students are Tier 2 or 3
RTI for reading and one or two years below their grade level in reading. These
factors affect planning, teaching, and assessing because students with an IEP or
504 plan will need to be accommodated per these plans. Student who are English
language learners, but do not have an IEP, will also need to be taken into
consideration when teaching and assessing.
Whole group instruction for initial reading of the text, followed by small group

iPad in Education - Evaluation and Report 2012 - 2013
This document summarizes an iPad trial conducted at KGS school from November 2012 to February 2013. 11 different projects were implemented across various subject areas to evaluate the impact of iPads on teaching and learning. Student and teacher evaluations found that the majority felt iPads enhanced engagement and the learning process. While computers remain effective, iPads provided new opportunities for creative lessons and flexible learning. The trial met its aims of exploring iPad's role in education and found they can engage students, encourage new teaching methods, and help prepare students for future technology use when integrated thoughtfully into the classroom.

iPad in Education - Evaluation and Report 2012 - 2013
This document summarizes an iPad trial conducted at KGS school from November 2012 to February 2013. 11 different projects were implemented across various subject areas to evaluate the impact of iPads on teaching and learning. Student and teacher evaluations found that the majority felt iPads enhanced engagement and the learning process. While computers remain effective, iPads provided new opportunities for creative lessons and flexible learning. The trial met its aims of exploring iPad's role in education and found they can engage students, encourage new teaching methods, and help prepare students for future technology use when integrated thoughtfully into the classroom.

This document provides information about a 3-lesson unit on descriptive writing for 5th grade students. Lesson 1 focuses on sensory writing and having students create descriptive stories using their five senses. Lesson 2 teaches idioms and has students illustrate their own idiom in a comic or video before writing a short story. Lesson 3 continues practicing descriptive writing skills. The lessons aim to enhance students' creative writing through techniques like sensory details, idioms, and clear descriptions. Formative assessments include group projects, comics/videos, and exit tickets to check understanding of key concepts.

This activity involves students creating quiz questions using relative pronouns and then taking turns posing questions to other student teams. Students are divided into groups and given sheets to make questions about recent lessons or other topics. The questions are then posed to other teams, who can earn points for correct answers. The team with the most points at the end wins a prize. The activity aims to practice using relative pronouns to form questions and answer questions in front of the class.
