My Home Culture Essay
Has My Home Culture Prepared Me for Work Life Culture?
By Drew Jenkins U5880443
Powerful tools include the use of coercion, threats, punishment, and any other means necessary to achieve teamwork. Dr. Clayton Christiansen
describes how it can be used to mold children as well as in a corporation. In my parents' house, this was their choice when my siblings and I were out
of line. It would usually start with a series of threats. When threats were not taken seriously, it would be followed by immediate punishment. Dr.
Christiansen in his HBR article, "How Will You Measure Your Life?" explains that these tools shaped a culture with some significant traits. The three
traits developed from my home culture are dependability, integrity, and perseverance. Being dependable is a greattrait for my work life culture. It was
established through a series of constant responsibility placed on me by my parents. My eldest brother was always at work, and would not get back till
early in the morning. This caused the responsibilities of him to fall to me. In a household of nine you really had to pull your own weight, plus any
excess that could relieve stress off my parents. It was the consistent need to help out with younger siblings that caused a birth of dependence. In other
words, every action I made was no longer just about myself, but for also the...show more content...
Now even though some traits were developed as well. When it comes to whether or not I will be prepared for work life culture. I have to say I'm on
the right track. As Dr. Christiansen said, "Culture, in compelling but unspoken ways, dictates the proven, acceptable methods by which members of
the group address recurrent problems. And culture defines the priority given to different types of problems." So I will have will have to wait and see
how I handle a situation in my work life

Descriptive Essay About My Homeland
"A man without a homeland will have no grave on Earth. And he forbade me to leave." I believe a homeland is a place that we can identify with
and have a special connection or it could be a place you have spent a majority of your time. For example, you live in New York your whole life but
were born in California, you're more likely to call New York your homeland since it is a place you're comfortable and familiar with. This does conclude
that just because you are born somewhere that does not make it automatically your homeland, it's up to that person themself to find that connection
with the place they can call their homeland. This quote made me think about about my homeland and where I consider my homeland. I was born in
Staten Island, New York and I can easily say this place is my homeland. The people here, the culture, and the environment are all things in Staten
Island that I have been accustomed to from growing up and developing here as a man. Your homeland doesn't define you as a person, but those
tendencies from that homeland will always be in you. However, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to identify with anyone else that's not from
Staten Island. This made me think about what it means to be American in the United States. This is a bit different because being a Staten Islander,
i'm still able to identify with people from other states. Therefore, I should try and define what it truly means to be an American. While thinking this
over I came up with four meaningful things, that comes to my mind about living in the land of the free. Firstly, an American to me is anyone that
can see the best things in life come with risks. This means Americans are gamblers in a good way, in order to get to the top you have to be willing to
take the losses along the way and the bumps in the road, if you will. Next, Americans in the worst of times aren't timid and they don't fold, they look to
hope to try and bring us through the tough times. This can be exemplified as Americans not being quitters when things get bad we don't hide, we fight
even harder and use hope to get us over the hump. Another quality of being an American, is their ability to use their own brain and god given gifts to
conquer anything they put

Descriptive Essay On My New House
I walked through my house one more time, saying a silent goodbye to each room, the only rooms I'd ever known. My parents' bedroom, which
contained my favorite hiding spot during our many Hide–and–Seek games–their closet, my sister's bedroom, where I had slept next to my grandma on
the pull–out bed in the years before my sister was born, my own room, with its ceiling of blue sky and yellow stars. The rooms where I had played,
laughed, cried. The street where I learned how to catch a baseball, ride a bike, drive my mini motorcycle. The backyard where my many pets–cats,
dogs, rabbits, had roamed. It was hard to comprehend that I would never live in this house again; seeing the once lively spaces now empty brought
countless memories back to me, overwhelming me with nostalgia. It was difficult to handle my conflicting inner feelings. On one hand, I was sad to
be leaving my childhood home, the keeper of countless secrets and memories, but at the same time, I was yearning to explore my new house and make
new memories there. I was intrigued by many of its characteristics, such as the fact that it was two stories–two story houses had always seemed much
more exciting than my one story house, where everything said and done could be heard and seen from almost every corner. As my mom drove my cat
and me on the twenty minute ride from the city of Antioch to neighboring Brentwood, even my cat's incessant meowing could not keep me from my
thoughts of what I was leaving behind; the only

How is it furnished?

How do you feel about your home?
Answer: my home is situated in a village in the district of patuakhali. It is a home of a two–storied tin–shed building. It faces to the south and looks
very beautiful. It has as many as eight rooms. We use four rooms and bedrooms, One for guests and the other three for the five members of the family.
The other four rooms used as reading room, store–room, drawing from and dining room. There hang a few nice pictures of charming views,
photographs and handiworks on the walls. There are a bathroom, a sanitary latrine and a kitchen at a little distance from the house. There is a
beautiful flower garden in front of the house. There is a big pond besides the kitchen. A few fruit tress have been planted on the three sides of the
pond. It is really very sweet to look into. We are quite happy to live in this house. We feel like saying after the poet,"Home, home, sweet home; there

Smart Home Essay
The use of the Smart Home"
The technology use of the smart home is very helpful in today's world for many reasons.Normally when you step inside your home, the refrigerator
is the first thing you go for. The refrigeration is important in both maintaining the safety and quality of many foods and enabling food to be supplied
and consumed. Sometimes the refrigerator loses its energy that cause food to be rotten, spoil and causes a large amount of smell inside your home.
That also connects to the point when you have to go out and spend plenty of money just to keep the system alive again, a couple of months later it
will be back at the same stage it was when the energy was lost.
Therefore, with the new technology Samsung...show more content...

My Home Essay
Home has been the center piece of my life since I was born. It has been more than just a place for me to come in and lay my head down at night. It
always has been and always will be the safety blanket for my life. It has been the place of several memories over the course of my lifetime;
memories that I will never forget. Inside my home, there are many artifacts that describe me as an individual person and have shaped me into the
man I am today. My home and the artifacts that it withholds have instilled in me the personal values and norms that help me carry myself as a
person, day in and day out. Anytime I hear the word home, memories and stories that my home has given me begin to race through my head like a
runaway train. Home is a place in the world that will no doubt in my mind relate to me at any point in my life. This haven–like dwelling can be
described as an overflowing spring with an abundance of love and support. Throughout my life my mother and father have taught me about roots.
Roots in a sense is basically your home, or the foundation of your life such as where you come from and how you were brought up. Along with my
parents, my home and the things it withholds has had a part in raising me. My home is like an old history textbook that someone would find in their
attic. It is full of old artifacts that could arguably tell you my families, values, culture, and makeup just by looking at them. One specific artifact that is
true and dear to me is an old, almost

My Dream Home

Home Is Where the Heart Is Essay
There was a time in my life that four walls and a roof over my head didn't mean much to me. I am therefore surprised to see how much joy and
fulfillment I have experienced from something I never thought I wanted. The stereotypical American dream of owning a home and raising a family
had never been what I pictured myself doing, let alone finding any type of fulfillment in it. My dreams were to travel the world and try new things;
things that no one had ever achieved before. I wanted to see things I had never imagined and help people on a global scale. It is not to say that these
are no longer the dreams I pursue, but there has been a complete metamorphosis in my ambitions. I find joy in the most simple and ordinary place: my

The exterior of my yard is welcoming and beautifully landscaped with maple trees, hedges, flower beds, stone borders, and a bright white marble
bird bath. I planted all the flowers shortly after we moved in, working hard to create a display that would be colorful throughout the year. The
house has one of the greenest lawns on the street that is meticulously manicured to help add to the overall pride that is taken with the home. My
children enjoy playing in the yard daily; the lush grass and quiet atmosphere of our neighborhood makes playtime an enjoyable event that my
children look forward to. The house has a brick exterior that I am especially thankful for because it is low maintenance and always looks flawless,
which fits my busy lifestyle perfectly. In the back yard I built four raised garden boxes that are each 20 square feet and have a self watering system
installed. I was able to grow a large portion of our own food this last summer, and even had space to grow a few pumpkins that my family carved this
year for Halloween.
Upon entering the house through a bright red heavy wood door, there is a dark green stone tile entryway that I replaced over the summer that
welcomes guests into the living room. When I walk through that door I have a feeling I've never felt before, a feeling of being home. It is not just a
feeling that it is the place to end the day, but a genuine feeling of being surrounded by my favorite place in the

My Favorite Place In My Home
My Favorite Place
There is a room in my home which is full of books and somewhat messy. It is my living room, which may be not quite common. It is where I stay
longest, study, and relax at home. It has accompanied me for approximately ten years and has seen my growth. It makes every day meaningful to me,
and therefore, it is my favorite place without doubt.
My living room is different from an ordinary one. Indeed, most of common furniture of a living room is there. There is just one thing missing. It is
the television, which my family removed when I was in senior high. However, the room also has many elements of a study, thereby it is
multifunctional and special. Stepping into the room, one can see desks for daily study, bookcases, and shelves. Since I love books, books take up
much space of the room. They flow from shelves and bookcases to everywhere you may imagine: on the desks, in the schoolbag I bring to school, and

I can still remember the old days. I used to be fond of intelligence toys and chess games, and let the toys and chess pieces occupy the table. I used to
watch fancy cartoons or scientific educational programs on television with curiosity. I used to read novels or popular science books on the sofa, and
sometimes I was so concentrated that I forgot about the time. So many important incidents once happened there. The table used to be where my mother
taught me basic knowledge and my first academic tutorial took place. The starting point of my learning chemistry of senior high also took place there
when I was almost ten. Moreover, the shabby desk in the room always reminds me of the time when I was busy preparing for the college entrance
examination. Every scar on the desk is telling a story. The pen rushing on the paper, I tried my best to improve myself through all kinds of tests held
by myself. Sweat was in my palms. The process was hard but

Describe My Home
My home, my home sweet home the place where I'm at peace and I can escape from the busy and crazy world. I moved into this house when I was
about 6 or 7 and I have countless of wonderful memories that happened here but also some pretty crummy ones. My house isn't very big, but it
isn't small it's the perfect size for just me and my mom. The walls of my house are a vanilla color, but have become dirty over the years and the
ceiling of it has some water damage because of the few times it rains here. It's also very noisy throughout the day and night because of the busy road
right behind us. There is a numerous amount of cars that go by every day and sometimes they wake us up at at the wee hours of the morning. It's
usually a massive white truck that comes rushing down the road at night, illuminating my darkened room with its blinding orange lights, trembling and
shaking the walls of the old house. Many times its people raising hell and speeding or racing down the road. What I love about my house is the
spectacular view you get when you step into the backyard. The first thing you see is what seems to be a never–ending desert and then you look up and
have an impeccable view of the enormous blue mountain where the tram is located. I love going out there at night because it's very peaceful at times
and you can see all the bright twinkling stars and the glistening lights of the city. It's also very chilling and eerie because of the never–ending desert,

Descriptive Essay On My Home
When I first moved in there was a small crack in my wall, it wasn't so small that it was easily ignored but it wasn't particularly large. It was
supposed to be filled in once I was fully settled into my new room. It never was. Every night I would stare into that crack in the wall, sometimes
only for a few hours, sometimes until I could see the rays of sunshine filtering into my room through my window. Every night as I stared into my
fractured wall I felt the minor gap in my wall stare back at me as I waited for sleep to encompass me. For almost five years, that crack in my wall
was there as a reminder. Reminder for what? A reminder that sometimes there's only so much stress something can take before it begins to crack.
It was a late spring night, so late that it wasn't technically night anymore. I surveyed what was going to be my room for the next few years. It wasn't
entirely spacious, boxes seemed to absorb the room. The faint blaring of music seeped through the walls, I would come to learn over the next few
years that the neighbours were determined to have a drunken celebration at least thrice a week. I was just going to have to live with the noise.
Live. This was my new house, albeit not my home. Home is a place of familiarity, a place of comfort. This was not my home. Turning left, I glanced
at a humble crack in the wall. It wasn't very sizable, much more like a chip than a crack. My papa said he would come and fill it in for me sometime
next week even thought it wasn't bothering me. A small part of me hoped he would forget about it because while this new environment made me very
uncomfortable that small crack put me at ease. That little crack showed that this house was a little worn down, a little broken. I'd be lying if I said that
I didn't feel the same.
Heat was pouring in through the window, which I had opened in the hope of cooling the room down. Summer was truly the worst season, bugs finding
their way into my room and the heat constantly suffocating me. A cold shower wouldn't go amiss. A loud shriek infiltrated the room as my brother
started fighting with my sister. I needed to leave. I left my house that day frustrated and bored. I came back silent. It was still light outside, the sky hadn't

Many things could've woken me up that morning: My own worry and fault for not being able to sleep, the moving trucks constant beeping
reminding me of my soon departure, or the alarm my mom set the night before. Either way I was going to end up going to bed that night the same
way, on the floor of my new house, miles away from my home. I woke with the battle of not knowing whether I was dreaming or if this was reality,
and for a few short seconds before my conscious told me why I was up, I had completely forgotten the day ahead of me. I look around at my once
poster filled walls of bad boy bands and teen movies. My poster board of movie stubs and notes I had passed around with my friends now perfectly
packed up into categorized and clearly labelled containers. I have moved enough in my life to know the drill, though I thought I wouldn't have to
ever recall it again. I have to start packing the week before, and remember to leave the essentials out the night before. On the foot of my bed were
the only things not packed and bound for my new home. I had my hair dryer for my long brown unmanageable hair, makeup, a mirror, two sets of
clothing, and the necklace my grandma gave me before she passed, which was to remind me that home is not a place but the people that I take to those
places. My grandma always knew how much moving for dad's job had affected me, and I really thought this was the last time I had to feel that way.
Earlier that week, my mom came into my room to

Whenever I hear the word home, I immediately think about a small town about an hour northeast of Madison. I was born and raised in this small
town and hope to return to or near it after college. Even though I live in Madison now, home to me is Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. My idea about what
home is has changed over time due to different life events, such as hard times and going to college to continue my education. The one thing that hasn't
changed though is the place that I consider my home. My entire life I lived in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. When I was about two years old, my family
moved out into the country, a move that I don't recall, but have seen pictures of. One of my favorite pictures from the move is of me sitting in a
box full of white packing peanuts, smiling from ear to ear at the camera. The house we moved into in the Hammer Hills neighborhood was and
still is what I consider my home. The first thing that people notice about our house isn't even our house at all. It is the towering pine trees lined up
in two long rows that run the length of our property line in front of our house. In total, there are approximately 24 pine trees. My parents decided to
plant the rows of pine trees to act as a wind block to help with blowing and drifting snow in the winter. The only problem was that it would take
several years for the trees to finally serve their purpose. When they were planted, they were only whips, as my parents call them, just a few inches tall

In life everyone has their own dreams, whether it be about cars, houses, or their career. Most people I know dream to have the biggest and luxurious

white painted doors. The front yard is decorated with beautiful flowers; roses, lilies, violets, dahlias, daisies and much more, my mother usually plant

After dinner, majority of the time everyone goes out or straight to their rooms but occasionally we'll sit in the living room and watch television
together. My living room is probably the coziest place in my house. The walls are partially decorated with pieces of wood. It resembles the interior of
a cottage. There are four black leather couches and a wooden coffee table that sits in the middle. My mother usually makes tea or coffee for us. She'll
also bring out a bowl of sliced fruits, nuts and put it on the coffee table. After watching a movie or soap opera on satellite, everyone goes to their
room and gets ready for bed. In the mornings when I wake up, the first thing I tend to do is step outside to my backyard to get a nice fresh air. My
backyard is fairly big, also one of the main reasons why my parents decided to buy it. There's a little slide door in the dining room that leads to a
dark brown deck. You'll see a green patio table, chairs and a barbecue. Also, in the corner of my backyard you'll see a small portion of the yard

that I can't recall. Both my dad and my mom love to grow organic vegetables and fruits. Around my backyard you'll also see a raspberry bush, pear,

What is Home? Essay
What is home? If one looks in a dictionary the answer would come out to be, "The place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a
family or household." However, for anyone who has had an actual home, they would know that such a term goes much beyond its concrete
description. It is an impassioned aspect filled with values and foundation of nurturing. A home is not just an abode built to live in; in fact, that is
just a definition of a house. Home is a place where one not only feels comfortable, but a place they look forward to opportunely live in every day. A

Family is what makes a house a home; this statement is undeniably precise. A person could have every material entity in the entire world, but it
would mean nothing if he does not have someone to share it with. In other words, home is also semantically related to sharing the happiness, grief,
and material things with one's family. A home gives people a place to care about the people that mean the most to them. It is a place to tell
amusing tales, a good story, or make memorable memories with one another. Furthermore, home is more than a place; it is a feeling. It is a feeling
of contentment and happiness that they share with the ones they love. Moreover, home is when one knows they are with people that can drive them
insane in a second, and the same people can make them happy in a second as well. Home means that no matter what one is going through, no matter
how challenging life gets, there will be someone looking out for them. One knows that a place is their home when they are comfortable enough to
present a true description of themselves, because they know that they will receive definitive acceptance. It is a sanctuary for them where they can do
anything they please and not be judged afterwards. It is where one can share the absurdity of their day without any remorse or repercussions. The
reason why people say that a person only has one true home is because one will

My Home Culture Essay

  • 1. My Home Culture Essay Has My Home Culture Prepared Me for Work Life Culture? By Drew Jenkins U5880443 Powerful tools include the use of coercion, threats, punishment, and any other means necessary to achieve teamwork. Dr. Clayton Christiansen describes how it can be used to mold children as well as in a corporation. In my parents' house, this was their choice when my siblings and I were out of line. It would usually start with a series of threats. When threats were not taken seriously, it would be followed by immediate punishment. Dr. Christiansen in his HBR article, "How Will You Measure Your Life?" explains that these tools shaped a culture with some significant traits. The three traits developed from my home culture are dependability, integrity, and perseverance. Being dependable is a greattrait for my work life culture. It was established through a series of constant responsibility placed on me by my parents. My eldest brother was always at work, and would not get back till early in the morning. This caused the responsibilities of him to fall to me. In a household of nine you really had to pull your own weight, plus any excess that could relieve stress off my parents. It was the consistent need to help out with younger siblings that caused a birth of dependence. In other words, every action I made was no longer just about myself, but for also the...show more content... Now even though some traits were developed as well. When it comes to whether or not I will be prepared for work life culture. I have to say I'm on the right track. As Dr. Christiansen said, "Culture, in compelling but unspoken ways, dictates the proven, acceptable methods by which members of the group address recurrent problems. And culture defines the priority given to different types of problems." So I will have will have to wait and see how I handle a situation in my work life Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Homeland "A man without a homeland will have no grave on Earth. And he forbade me to leave." I believe a homeland is a place that we can identify with and have a special connection or it could be a place you have spent a majority of your time. For example, you live in New York your whole life but were born in California, you're more likely to call New York your homeland since it is a place you're comfortable and familiar with. This does conclude that just because you are born somewhere that does not make it automatically your homeland, it's up to that person themself to find that connection with the place they can call their homeland. This quote made me think about about my homeland and where I consider my homeland. I was born in Staten Island, New York and I can easily say this place is my homeland. The people here, the culture, and the environment are all things in Staten Island that I have been accustomed to from growing up and developing here as a man. Your homeland doesn't define you as a person, but those tendencies from that homeland will always be in you. However, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to identify with anyone else that's not from Staten Island. This made me think about what it means to be American in the United States. This is a bit different because being a Staten Islander, i'm still able to identify with people from other states. Therefore, I should try and define what it truly means to be an American. While thinking this over I came up with four meaningful things, that comes to my mind about living in the land of the free. Firstly, an American to me is anyone that can see the best things in life come with risks. This means Americans are gamblers in a good way, in order to get to the top you have to be willing to take the losses along the way and the bumps in the road, if you will. Next, Americans in the worst of times aren't timid and they don't fold, they look to hope to try and bring us through the tough times. This can be exemplified as Americans not being quitters when things get bad we don't hide, we fight even harder and use hope to get us over the hump. Another quality of being an American, is their ability to use their own brain and god given gifts to conquer anything they put Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Descriptive Essay On My New House I walked through my house one more time, saying a silent goodbye to each room, the only rooms I'd ever known. My parents' bedroom, which contained my favorite hiding spot during our many Hide–and–Seek games–their closet, my sister's bedroom, where I had slept next to my grandma on the pull–out bed in the years before my sister was born, my own room, with its ceiling of blue sky and yellow stars. The rooms where I had played, laughed, cried. The street where I learned how to catch a baseball, ride a bike, drive my mini motorcycle. The backyard where my many pets–cats, dogs, rabbits, had roamed. It was hard to comprehend that I would never live in this house again; seeing the once lively spaces now empty brought countless memories back to me, overwhelming me with nostalgia. It was difficult to handle my conflicting inner feelings. On one hand, I was sad to be leaving my childhood home, the keeper of countless secrets and memories, but at the same time, I was yearning to explore my new house and make new memories there. I was intrigued by many of its characteristics, such as the fact that it was two stories–two story houses had always seemed much more exciting than my one story house, where everything said and done could be heard and seen from almost every corner. As my mom drove my cat and me on the twenty minute ride from the city of Antioch to neighboring Brentwood, even my cat's incessant meowing could not keep me from my thoughts of what I was leaving behind; the only Get more content on HelpWriting.net

How do you feel about your home? Answer: my home is situated in a village in the district of patuakhali. It is a home of a two–storied tin–shed building. It faces to the south and looks very beautiful. It has as many as eight rooms. We use four rooms and bedrooms, One for guests and the other three for the five members of the family. The other four rooms used as reading room, store–room, drawing from and dining room. There hang a few nice pictures of charming views, photographs and handiworks on the walls. There are a bathroom, a sanitary latrine and a kitchen at a little distance from the house. There is a beautiful flower garden in front of the house. There is a big pond besides the kitchen. A few fruit tress have been planted on the three sides of the pond. It is really very sweet to look into. We are quite happy to live in this house. We feel like saying after the poet,"Home, home, sweet home; there is no place like home." Or, My Home...show more content... • 6. Smart Home Essay The use of the Smart Home" The technology use of the smart home is very helpful in today's world for many reasons.Normally when you step inside your home, the refrigerator is the first thing you go for. The refrigeration is important in both maintaining the safety and quality of many foods and enabling food to be supplied and consumed. Sometimes the refrigerator loses its energy that cause food to be rotten, spoil and causes a large amount of smell inside your home. That also connects to the point when you have to go out and spend plenty of money just to keep the system alive again, a couple of months later it will be back at the same stage it was when the energy was lost. Therefore, with the new technology Samsung...show more content... • 7. My Home Essay Home has been the center piece of my life since I was born. It has been more than just a place for me to come in and lay my head down at night. It always has been and always will be the safety blanket for my life. It has been the place of several memories over the course of my lifetime; memories that I will never forget. Inside my home, there are many artifacts that describe me as an individual person and have shaped me into the man I am today. My home and the artifacts that it withholds have instilled in me the personal values and norms that help me carry myself as a person, day in and day out. Anytime I hear the word home, memories and stories that my home has given me begin to race through my head like a runaway train. Home is a place in the world that will no doubt in my mind relate to me at any point in my life. This haven–like dwelling can be described as an overflowing spring with an abundance of love and support. Throughout my life my mother and father have taught me about roots. Roots in a sense is basically your home, or the foundation of your life such as where you come from and how you were brought up. Along with my parents, my home and the things it withholds has had a part in raising me. My home is like an old history textbook that someone would find in their attic. It is full of old artifacts that could arguably tell you my families, values, culture, and makeup just by looking at them. • 8. Home Essay: My Dream Home My Dream Home Home is the place one spends more time in their life and share special moments with family. Where one expects to live permanently carefree and feel protected under the roof of their house. One day I want to have a home that makes me feel well and where I can be safe and happy. The purpose of this essay is to illustrate the decisions I made about designing my future dream house. The house of my dream has to be huge, spacious, which would reflect my personality toward innovations and modern technological advances. I would like my house count as much as possible with green materials that preserve the environment I want my house to be located in a place away from the disturbance of a big city but at the same time close to civilization. My personality and lifestyle would allow me to feel comfortable in such a place like this. Cultural values are not yet seemed to be lost because you can always add a sense of you to your house through decorative aspects. I think one way I would to these without losing the significance of my house style is changing the color of my house. The major distinction between these modern houses is that they are painted white, and I want mine to change a bit by painting with some neutral color such as beige or gray. This would still keep the same format of the house, but will add something unique about me to the house and it would show it to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Home Is Where the Heart Is Essay There was a time in my life that four walls and a roof over my head didn't mean much to me. I am therefore surprised to see how much joy and fulfillment I have experienced from something I never thought I wanted. The stereotypical American dream of owning a home and raising a family had never been what I pictured myself doing, let alone finding any type of fulfillment in it. My dreams were to travel the world and try new things; things that no one had ever achieved before. I wanted to see things I had never imagined and help people on a global scale. It is not to say that these are no longer the dreams I pursue, but there has been a complete metamorphosis in my ambitions. I find joy in the most simple and ordinary place: my home. A...show more content... The exterior of my yard is welcoming and beautifully landscaped with maple trees, hedges, flower beds, stone borders, and a bright white marble bird bath. I planted all the flowers shortly after we moved in, working hard to create a display that would be colorful throughout the year. The house has one of the greenest lawns on the street that is meticulously manicured to help add to the overall pride that is taken with the home. My children enjoy playing in the yard daily; the lush grass and quiet atmosphere of our neighborhood makes playtime an enjoyable event that my children look forward to. The house has a brick exterior that I am especially thankful for because it is low maintenance and always looks flawless, which fits my busy lifestyle perfectly. In the back yard I built four raised garden boxes that are each 20 square feet and have a self watering system installed. I was able to grow a large portion of our own food this last summer, and even had space to grow a few pumpkins that my family carved this year for Halloween. Upon entering the house through a bright red heavy wood door, there is a dark green stone tile entryway that I replaced over the summer that welcomes guests into the living room. When I walk through that door I have a feeling I've never felt before, a feeling of being home. It is where I stay longest, study, and relax at home. It has accompanied me for approximately ten years and has seen my growth. It makes every day meaningful to me, and therefore, it is my favorite place without doubt. My living room is different from an ordinary one. Indeed, most of common furniture of a living room is there. There is just one thing missing. It is the television, which my family removed when I was in senior high. However, the room also has many elements of a study, thereby it is multifunctional and special. Stepping into the room, one can see desks for daily study, bookcases, and shelves. Since I love books, books take up much space of the room. They flow from shelves and bookcases to everywhere you may imagine: on the desks, in the schoolbag I bring to school, and even sometimes...show more content... I can still remember the old days. I used to be fond of intelligence toys and chess games, and let the toys and chess pieces occupy the table. I used to watch fancy cartoons or scientific educational programs on television with curiosity. I used to read novels or popular science books on the sofa, and sometimes I was so concentrated that I forgot about the time. So many important incidents once happened there. The table used to be where my mother taught me basic knowledge and my first academic tutorial took place. The starting point of my learning chemistry of senior high also took place there when I was almost ten. Moreover, the shabby desk in the room always reminds me of the time when I was busy preparing for the college entrance examination. Every scar on the desk is telling a story. The pen rushing on the paper, I tried my best to improve myself through all kinds of tests held by myself. Sweat was in my palms. The process was hard but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Describe My Home My home, my home sweet home the place where I'm at peace and I can escape from the busy and crazy world. I moved into this house when I was about 6 or 7 and I have countless of wonderful memories that happened here but also some pretty crummy ones. My house isn't very big, but it isn't small it's the perfect size for just me and my mom. The walls of my house are a vanilla color, but have become dirty over the years and the ceiling of it has some water damage because of the few times it rains here. It's also very noisy throughout the day and night because of the busy road right behind us. There is a numerous amount of cars that go by every day and sometimes they wake us up at at the wee hours of the morning. It's usually a massive white truck that comes rushing down the road at night, illuminating my darkened room with its blinding orange lights, trembling and shaking the walls of the old house. Many times its people raising hell and speeding or racing down the road. What I love about my house is the spectacular view you get when you step into the backyard. The first thing you see is what seems to be a never–ending desert and then you look up and have an impeccable view of the enormous blue mountain where the tram is located. I love going out there at night because it's very peaceful at times and you can see all the bright twinkling stars and the glistening lights of the city. It's also very chilling and eerie because of the never–ending desert, you never know what you might Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Descriptive Essay On My Home When I first moved in there was a small crack in my wall, it wasn't so small that it was easily ignored but it wasn't particularly large. It was supposed to be filled in once I was fully settled into my new room. It never was. Every night I would stare into that crack in the wall, sometimes only for a few hours, sometimes until I could see the rays of sunshine filtering into my room through my window. Every night as I stared into my fractured wall I felt the minor gap in my wall stare back at me as I waited for sleep to encompass me. For almost five years, that crack in my wall was there as a reminder. Reminder for what? A reminder that sometimes there's only so much stress something can take before it begins to crack. It was a late spring night, so late that it wasn't technically night anymore. I surveyed what was going to be my room for the next few years. It wasn't entirely spacious, boxes seemed to absorb the room. The faint blaring of music seeped through the walls, I would come to learn over the next few years that the neighbours were determined to have a drunken celebration at least thrice a week. I was just going to have to live with the noise. Live. This was my new house, albeit not my home. Home is a place of familiarity, a place of comfort. This was not my home. Turning left, I glanced at a humble crack in the wall. It wasn't very sizable, much more like a chip than a crack. My papa said he would come and fill it in for me sometime next week even thought it wasn't bothering me. A small part of me hoped he would forget about it because while this new environment made me very uncomfortable that small crack put me at ease. That little crack showed that this house was a little worn down, a little broken. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't feel the same. Heat was pouring in through the window, which I had opened in the hope of cooling the room down. Summer was truly the worst season, bugs finding their way into my room and the heat constantly suffocating me. A cold shower wouldn't go amiss. A loud shriek infiltrated the room as my brother started fighting with my sister. I needed to leave. I left my house that day frustrated and bored. I came back silent. It was still light outside, the sky hadn't Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Descriptive Essay About My New Home Many things could've woken me up that morning: My own worry and fault for not being able to sleep, the moving trucks constant beeping reminding me of my soon departure, or the alarm my mom set the night before. Either way I was going to end up going to bed that night the same way, on the floor of my new house, miles away from my home. I woke with the battle of not knowing whether I was dreaming or if this was reality, and for a few short seconds before my conscious told me why I was up, I had completely forgotten the day ahead of me. I look around at my once poster filled walls of bad boy bands and teen movies. My poster board of movie stubs and notes I had passed around with my friends now perfectly packed up into categorized and clearly labelled containers. I have moved enough in my life to know the drill, though I thought I wouldn't have to ever recall it again. I have to start packing the week before, and remember to leave the essentials out the night before. On the foot of my bed were the only things not packed and bound for my new home. I had my hair dryer for my long brown unmanageable hair, makeup, a mirror, two sets of clothing, and the necklace my grandma gave me before she passed, which was to remind me that home is not a place but the people that I take to those places. My grandma always knew how much moving for dad's job had affected me, and I really thought this was the last time I had to feel that way. Earlier that week, my mom came into my room to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Descriptive Essay About My Home Whenever I hear the word home, I immediately think about a small town about an hour northeast of Madison. I was born and raised in this small town and hope to return to or near it after college. Even though I live in Madison now, home to me is Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. My idea about what home is has changed over time due to different life events, such as hard times and going to college to continue my education. The one thing that hasn't changed though is the place that I consider my home. My entire life I lived in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. When I was about two years old, my family moved out into the country, a move that I don't recall, but have seen pictures of. One of my favorite pictures from the move is of me sitting in a box full of white packing peanuts, smiling from ear to ear at the camera. The house we moved into in the Hammer Hills neighborhood was and still is what I consider my home. The first thing that people notice about our house isn't even our house at all. It is the towering pine trees lined up in two long rows that run the length of our property line in front of our house. In total, there are approximately 24 pine trees. My parents decided to plant the rows of pine trees to act as a wind block to help with blowing and drifting snow in the winter. The only problem was that it would take several years for the trees to finally serve their purpose. When they were planted, they were only whips, as my parents call them, just a few inches tall and about the width of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Dream House Essay What I Call Home In life everyone has their own dreams, whether it be about cars, houses, or their career. Most people I know dream to have the biggest and luxurious houses but I was always satisfied with mine. My house is not a tiny apartment nor a huge mansion but a two story, plain brown brick cozy house with white painted doors. The front yard is decorated with beautiful flowers; roses, lilies, violets, dahlias, daisies and much more, my mother usually plant them. She says, "Flowers are a pleasure and perfection of nature, and they give many things to people, and it does not matter if you are rich or poor, they give you a wonderful world which makes you feel happy". It definitely makes her and our neighbors happy. She shares the...show more content... After dinner, majority of the time everyone goes out or straight to their rooms but occasionally we'll sit in the living room and watch television together. My living room is probably the coziest place in my house. The walls are partially decorated with pieces of wood. It resembles the interior of a cottage. There are four black leather couches and a wooden coffee table that sits in the middle. My mother usually makes tea or coffee for us. She'll also bring out a bowl of sliced fruits, nuts and put it on the coffee table. After watching a movie or soap opera on satellite, everyone goes to their room and gets ready for bed. In the mornings when I wake up, the first thing I tend to do is step outside to my backyard to get a nice fresh air. My backyard is fairly big, also one of the main reasons why my parents decided to buy it. There's a little slide door in the dining room that leads to a dark brown deck. You'll see a green patio table, chairs and a barbecue. Also, in the corner of my backyard you'll see a small portion of the yard fenced. That's my mothers garden, where she grows tomatoes, peppers, onions, eggplants, parsley, lettuce, strawberries, cucumbers and many others that I can't recall. Both my dad and my mom love to grow organic vegetables and fruits. Around my backyard you'll also see a raspberry bush, pear, peach, cherry, apricot, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My lake–lot creates the upmost best experience for me to be one with nature and land. Many times I was able to hear the birds chirping, see turtles sun bathing, and other people tubing and skiing behind boats. I enjoy my land so much and appreciate all of the living nature. We need to understand how vital the land is that we live and work on. Although most people enjoy certain places, it is good to balance areas of land to experience how nature works. I believe people will begin to respect and also learn more about who they are once they find places that comfort and calm them. The natural environment is a great resource to do this. The environment includes many different types of categories, trees, flowers, creatures, etc. all of which contribute to the nature we live in. Having the ability to have knowledge of the land you live on, you begin to respect it more and sometimes even let yourself become one with the land. • 19. What is Home? Essay What is home? If one looks in a dictionary the answer would come out to be, "The place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household." However, for anyone who has had an actual home, they would know that such a term goes much beyond its concrete description. It is an impassioned aspect filled with values and foundation of nurturing. A home is not just an abode built to live in; in fact, that is just a definition of a house. A person could have every material entity in the entire world, but it would mean nothing if he does not have someone to share it with. In other words, home is also semantically related to sharing the happiness, grief, and material things with one's family. A home gives people a place to care about the people that mean the most to them. It is a place to tell amusing tales, a good story, or make memorable memories with one another. Furthermore, home is more than a place; it is a feeling. It is a feeling of contentment and happiness that they share with the ones they love. Moreover, home is when one knows they are with people that can drive them insane in a second, and the same people can make them happy in a second as well. Home means that no matter what one is going through, no matter how challenging life gets, there will be someone looking out for them. One knows that a place is their home when they are comfortable enough to present a true description of themselves, because they know that they will receive definitive acceptance. It is a sanctuary for them where they can do anything they please and not be judged afterwards. It is where one can share the absurdity of their day without any remorse or repercussions.
