Low-income students face several barriers in accessing financial aid for college. They are less likely to grow up in an environment that promotes higher education and often lack reliable internet access needed to complete financial aid forms online. Completing the lengthy FAFSA form can also be difficult without sufficient guidance. As a result, many low-income students who could qualify for aid miss out on opportunities because they are unaware of necessary follow-up steps or unable to navigate the financial aid process in time to pay tuition costs. Closing the digital divide will require providing more resources to guide low-income students through each stage of applying for financial assistance.
Pedagogic Enquiry Presentation - Threshold Concepts in Statistics as a Discip...Richard Diamond

Scores in early chapters correlated with later performance, indicating these chapters involve procedural thresholds. The document proposes techniques to help students learn threshold concepts, such as visual simulations and improvised data analysis during class. It examines the pendulum in exam design between multiple choice and questions requiring calculation and interpretation.
