4. C is for Cimbasso A Cimbasso is a brass instrument. It is in the trombone family. A person who play a trombone can play this too since their so alike.

5. D is for Doulophone The Doulophone is a brass is a brass instrument. It is made of metal. It was developed in 2005.

6. E is for Euphonium The Euphonium is a brass instrument. Its name comes from the Greek word Euphonos meaning well sounding. You might see one of these instruments in a marching band.

7. F is for Flute The flute is a woodwind instrument. You might play one of these in band class. The oldest flute ever found was made about 43,000 years ago.

8. G is for Guitar The guitar usually has six string but there are others that have more. There are two types of guitars, Acoustic and Electric. I really like the Electric guitar.

11. J is for Jiohu A Jiohu comes from China. It is a two stringed bow instrument. The open front end of the sound box is covered with snake skin.

12. K is for Kagul The Kagul comes from the Philippines. It is a type of bamboo scraper. Its sound scares away birds.

13. L is for Lute Someone who plays a lute is called a lutenist , lutanist , or lutist . Someone who makes lutes is called a luthier. The strings used to be made out of animal guts and some still are.

14. M is for Maraca Maracas are sometimes called rumba shakers. Are native to Puerto Rico, Cuba, Venezuela and several nations of the Caribbean and Latin America. They are known in Trinidad as shac-shacs.

15. N is for Naqara The naqara is a very large drum. It is a Mongolian war drum. It signaled when an attack is taking place.

16. O is for Octoban Octoban drums are also known as tube toms and quarter toms. Octobans have 15 cm diameter drum shells, and range in length from 280 millimeters to 600 millimeters. The different lengths of the cylinders are what give each drum its distinct tone.

17. P is for Piano It has 36 black keys and 52 white keys for a total of 88 keys. There are several sizes of grand piano. There’s "concert grand" from the "parlor grand" and the smaller "baby grand". In 1863, Henri Fourneaux invented the player piano, which plays itself.

18. Q is for qin The Qin is an ancient musical instrument. It comes from China It is a stringed instrument like the zither you will hear about later on.

19. R is for Ruan The Ruan is a 4 stringed Chinese. It has frets like a guitar. It also has a round hollow body with f holes like a violin.

20. S is for Shakuhachi The Shakuhachi is a bamboo flute with 4 finger holes and a thumb hole. It comes from Japan. It has great flexibility of tone and pitch through half holing and head movements.

21. T is Tambourine There are to nicknames for the Tambourine. Marine and Tambo. The metal jingles are called Zils. If you move your thumb over a tambourine correctly it will jingle really fast.

22. U is for Ukulele The Ukulele was made in the 19 th century. It was made in Hawaii as an interpretation of the guitar. Ukuleles come in four sizes, soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone

23. V is for Violin The Violin is the smallest and highest-pitched instrument in the Violin family. Someone who plays the violin is called a violinist or a fiddler. The strings used to be made of sheep guts.

24. W is for Wind Chimes Modern wind chimes come from the Indian wind bells. Wind Chimes are made of wood or metal. Some people actually use this as an instrument.

25. X is for Xylophone The xylophone is a percussion instrument. The earliest xylophone found was in the 9th Century in Asia. It made of wooden bars of different sizes that are hit by plastic, wooden, or rubber mallets.

26. Y is for Yu The Yu was used in ancient China. Its mostly made of bamboo. It was played in the 3 rd Century during the Han Dynasty.

27. Z is for Zither The Zither is a 12 stringed instrument. A person who plays a Zither is called a Zitherist. The instrument plays a part in one of Johan Strauss the second most famous waltzes, “Tales from the Vienna Woods".
