looks.
• She is the center of attention, the
background is slightly blurred so
she is the main focus of the
image.
• The background is blurred and
the focus on her is sharp.
• The image has been taken in her
dressing room, you can tell by the
mirror in the background and the
assortments of things on the
desk. She’s also wearing dark
coloured make-up, a trait that is
popular in the alternative scene.

colours match her hair colour and keeping it above and
below her hair so it’ll all match up.
• It promotes Halsey by showing off her looks, and the
text “#GirlPower Issue” will bring in many
feminists/womens rights activists.
• It appeals to the target audience by showing her in a
dark/edgier light, the magazine being aimed towards
alternative/hipster teenagers/young adults.
• The photograph tells the story of her being a music
artist, on tour and getting ready to perform her show.
• It increases sales by showing off her beauty and
showing that she stands up for women’s rights with the
title. People will more more drawn to her if she stands
for those kinds of things.
