Ichiro Tsuruta is a Japanese artist born in 1954 in Kumamoto prefecture. He graduated from Tama Art College with a degree in graphic design and initially worked in Western and realistic illustration styles. However, he became interested in concepts of beauty within Japanese tradition and Buddhist art. His illustrations of Japanese women blend European art deco styles with Japanese sensibilities, depicting beauty, elegance, and eroticism.
