- Farming systems in West and Central Africa face many challenges including poor soils, drought, pests and diseases, low mechanization, and climate change. - However, there is also great potential to boost agriculture through exploiting only 10% of irrigable land, empowering the large youth population, and disseminating appropriate technologies. - CORAF is working to advance the use of modern data collection tools and digital platforms to support agricultural research, recommendations, market access, and decision making across the region.

Ben Crissy chose to keep the statistics for his high school basketball team as his senior project in order to explore a potential career as a sports statistician. He worked with the basketball coach to learn how to record stats during games. Crissy found it challenging to watch fast-paced games and record stats at the same time. By the end of the season, he had compiled comprehensive statistics that closely matched those kept by the coach. Through this project, Crissy gained experience that could help him pursue a career in sports statistics.

This course will prepare microfinance practitioners to understand and provide financial and non-financial services to rural and urban youth. The course will introduce participants to best practices for serving youth, help them to understand the differences between rural and urban youth financial service provision, and detail specific products and service delivery models. To ground the information in concrete examples, the training will also involve a live case study component, where participants will be able to engage with representatives of financial institutions in the MENA region that are currently offering financial services to youth.
