Thankfully, there are ways to prescribe and standardize without losing freedom and flexibility. In this talk we will showcase. from a very pragmatic and hands-on point of view, an architectural approach based on real-world project experiences, unleashing the power of Jenkins, Jenkinsfile declarative pipelines, Jenkins libraries, Docker and Kubernetes as the universal runtime platform, for continuously delivering polyglot components at ease.

In this talk, I will show how VA Smalltalk integrates smoothly with these technologies to build enterprise-class scalable and performant systems. I will demonstrate how to take an application from the development environment and prepare it for deployment. I will show how to get started with Docker by building Docker images and running them within isolated containers. Finally, I will create an ARM 64 cluster using Raspberry Pi and a Pine64 IoT devices that will be running a cloud of containers: a Docker Swarm

Testing in a Continuous Delivery Pipeline: Faster, Better, Cheaper
This document provides an overview of testing in a continuous delivery pipeline presented by Gene Gotimer of Coveros, Inc. It discusses balancing early testing with rapid feedback and avoiding late surprises. Web testing continues to get much more difficult due to: increasing use of open technologies (HTML, JavaScript, and CSS) and web components in apps; lengthening the approval processes for plugins; and Chrome, Mozilla, and Edge browsers blocking specific APIs. On the mobile front, Apple, Google, and Microsoft are making it easier for developers to build cross-platform apps, resulting in more to test in less time. With releases such as Windows 10, the lines between desktop and mobile continue to blur. Nikhil Kaul presents an overview of recent technological trends and discusses why they necessitate an alteration in existing agile testing practices. He shares how the transition to technologies like React and React Native is causing the worlds of mobile and web testing to collide. Nikhil shows how, by employing reusability practices and following a modular test design, testers can better prepare for these developments.
Defining DevSecOps
Today everybody wants to deploy the app and infrastructure faster without any disputes. An Even, Agile framework can help to deploy faster in real-time. But Continuous Innovation may conflict with stability and security. Without security at every stage, DevOps merely introduces vulnerabilities into application quickly. To resolve such conflict, the gap in recursive feedback loops need to be eliminated. Mostly, teams are not effectively working in a collaboration and interacting with each other smoothly. This results in gaps and produce problems with code development and quality, meaning slower delivery plans and serious vulnerabilities that create security risk at most. Fortunately, these shortcomings can be addressed very well, as developers/testers are set to launch off into the DevSecOps world or via adopting rugged DevOps model.
Security Testing for Containerized Applications

DevOps describes the culture of communication and collaboration between IT Development and IT Operations departments. Usually this covers system setup, application deployment and all the surrounding tools like CI, metrics and alerting. A core element has always been IT automation using configuration management and CI/CD. But how do we do DevOps in a containerized world? Do we still need configuration management? Is there still collaboration possible? Or iare containers the DevOps killer? In my talk I draw a picture on responsibilities, does and don’ts when it comes to developers and operations working within a container runtime platform. I want to show where we still have DevOps and where we pass responsibilities to a single department only and what kind of security borders we have at hand to work separately but with trust.

Enterprise CI as-a-Service using Jenkins

DevOps describes the culture of communication and collaboration between IT Development and IT Operations departments. Usually this covers system setup, application deployment and all the surrounding tools like CI, metrics and alerting. A core element has always been IT automation using configuration management and CI/CD. But how do we do DevOps in a containerized world? Do we still need configuration management? Is there still collaboration possible? Or iare containers the DevOps killer? In my talk I draw a picture on responsibilities, does and don’ts when it comes to developers and operations working within a container runtime platform. I want to show where we still have DevOps and where we pass responsibilities to a single department only and what kind of security borders we have at hand to work separately but with trust.

Single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi are cheap, small, and cute, but they have also shown that they are powerful enough to drive interesting ideas at a fraction of the cost of other, more “traditional” hardware solutions. This session covers how Java ME and Java SE technologies can power solutions for managing open spaces (such as museums, department stores, hypermarkets, airports, train stations, and offices) in a cost-effective manner. Combining Java, the Raspberry Pi, and Bluetooth LE and other sensors makes it easy to build a platform to track personal devices as they are carried through an area and analyze movement patterns, hot zones, and real-time 3-D information to help drive better visitor/customer/user interactions.

Abstract: Integrated Development Environments are at the neuralgic centre of developer activities. For many of us it’s unconceivable to work in complex developments leveraging multiple heterogeneous tools for design, build and test activities without the IDE connecting them all.
IDEs are powerful tools, capable of handling many types of tasks. In many cases, IDEs are perceived as a commodity but this is a naïve approach that ignores the many brilliant features that IDEs can be used for: debugging, code generation, test automation, version control, quality assurance, task & issue management, etc.
During this talk, participants will get an overview of what IDEs mean today, for the newbie, the enterprise and the hard-core developer, will get introduced to key IDE features that every one of us should be using, and will participate on an open discussion about what next-generation IDEs should look like.

Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code Analysis
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.
