Multigrade teaching has been an integral part of the Philippine education system for decades, with close to a third of public elementary schools implementing some form of multigrade instruction as of 2009. The multigrade program aims to provide access to education for students in remote areas with small enrollments. There are two types of multigrade schools based on class structure and grade levels offered. Laws have supported the multigrade program since 1993 to improve access through combination classrooms. The program provides benefits like teacher training, materials, and infrastructure to sustain education quality and inclusion.
