BRIEF HISTORY
THE BIG IDEA
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Lavender Scented Hand
Soap. Similar principles could also be applied to
other Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products.
Educated women, 35-44 years old, who believe in
using organic cleaning products with few chemicals.
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day was started by the daughter
of a practical homemaking mom of nine kids.
This daughter wanted to create cleaning products
that smelled nice, but that weren’t full of harsh
chemicals.
This product redesign of the lavender scented
hand soap was inspired by a bathroom in my own
mother’s bathroom. I used the bathroom one day
and as I was using the Mrs. Meyer’s Honeysuckle
scented hand soap, I realized that if the design was
less wordy and busy, the whole bathroom would
look and feel better.
The slogan of Mrs. Meyers Clean Day is, “smells
like a garden. Cleans like the dickens.” This was the
perfect opportunity for the brand to showcase their
beliefs! According to Simon Sinek, “people don’t buy
what you do, they buy why you do it.”
By creating a more minimalistic design, this
aromatherapeutic lavender handsoap is better able
to do it’s job of relaxing, soothing, and relieving
fatigue.

5. LOGO
The design of the logo shouldn’t change. There should
never be a drop shadow of any kind associated with
the logo. The color of the logo depends on the scent
of the product in question.
The color logo should be used whenever possible.
The black and white logos should be used out of
necessity only. The Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day YouTube
Channel branding watermark is seen below. The
opacity of this white logo is set at 90 % opacity.
