Mr. Nobody is a mischievous character that plays pranks and causes minor disruptions in people's homes. The poem describes how Mr. Nobody breaks plates, tears books, leaves doors and blinds open, scatters pins, and tracks mud inside. While no one has seen his face, Mr. Nobody is blamed for the various annoyances and messes that occur without explanation. The poem suggests taking responsibility for oneself rather than blaming unnamed others.

man’ by the name of Mr. Nobody who is

quietly in everybody’s house.
• We have never seen his face but if things
go wrong, it will definitely be the work of
Mr.Nobody.
• He is the one who breaks the plates, ‘tears
our books’, and ‘leaves the door ajar’

and leaves the blinds open; as a result the
curtains will fade.
