2. SELECTION CRITERIA:
 Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Trade Certificate or Certificate of Competence relating to Engineering and/or
Mining
- Training / diploma
 Experience:
- At least 5 years experience working in a mining / engineering environment
- At least 2 - 3 years training / facilitation experience in a mining environment
- Trackless / Skinking experience will be advantagouos

3.1. Work Description

The Training Officer is responsible for the facilitation of learning programmes to
employees.
The Site Training Officer has to ensure that the development and facilitation of
learning programmes are aligned to Outcomes Based Education principles and
methodologies of Unit Standards. An important aspect of this role is the ongoing and
accurate assessment of learners against the requirements necessary to demonstrate
competence against pre-determined assessment criteria. It is the responsibility of this
role incumbent to proactively identify learning barriers, provide ongoing feedback and
actively coach learners towards the achievement of required competency levels to
support safety amd productivity requirements back in the workplace.
A critical component of the role is the completion of documentation in compliance with
group requirements for purposes of maintaining the management information system
and accurate Skills Development reporting as well as quality ensurance..Support,
conduact and implement group training initiatives.

- Ensure that there are sufficient training resources
- Arrange stationery for learners and ensure that it
is returned after the training session
- Ensure that there are sufficient learner guides for
learners to work with as well as assessment
forms that learners will need to complete / e-
learning equipment and functionality

- Provide feedback to each learner on the
assessment outcomes
- Ensure that feedback is objective, supportive and
encouraging
- Provide coaching in cases of ‘NYC’ learner
ratings to assist achievement of a ‘C’ rating
- Allow for expanded opportunities with regards to
re-assessment
- Ensure that all assessment documentation is
completed according to required standards
 Housekeeping maintenance:
- Ensure that the Data Capturer receives the
necessary documentation for capture onto

relevant systems (i.e. National Database)
- Compile accurate Training reports
- File documents as necessary
- Collate documentation required for internal
moderation
