Capital Improvement Program (CIP) & Short Term Work
Program (STWP)
Purpose
The Georgia Planning Act - 1989
• The State requires that the City of Atlanta have an adopted Capital
Improvements Program (CIP) and Short Term Work Program (STWP):
To maintain Qualified Local Government status
needed for some state & regional funding
To be able to collect Impact fees
• CIP-STWP must be reviewed by the Atlanta Regional Commission and
the GA Department of Community Affairs and adopted by the City of
Atlanta by October 31, annually.
