- Hello everyone, I am pleased to be with you today to present Les libraires and one specific marketing project that aims at building better customer relationship online.
- Our group of booksellers started cooperating in 1998 by creating and publishing Les libraires magazine. Our booksellers are content contributors and their bookstores is the main distribution network. We also make it available in public libraries.
- In 2007, our booksellers saw the e-Commerce coming and they faced the growing power of bookstore chains. So, in addition of the magazine, they have founded a cooperative launched a first e-Commerce platform.
- leslibraires.ca is the 3rd generation of our website. When the Pandemic started, we had been building our model over a decade.
- Each of our independent bookstores has his own brick and mortar store and a unique brand but they all together sell online through a single platform branded leslibraires.ca.
- In brief : when the customer looks for books, our website takes into account the stocks as well as the location of the customer in order to propose the store that can fulfil his order the faster.
- When you shop in person, the key differentiator for independent bookstores is personnalised service and good recommandations. Our daily challenge is to extend this on the Web.
- Of course you know the Pandemic changed our business model. E-Commerce went from 5% of our bookstores business to up to 20%-25%. It was crucial to be able to develop customer intelligence to make the most out of all those 200 000 news accounts have been created since March 2020.
- We had been working on a newsletter project that allows the client to customize it according to its favorite book categories
- and either from Quebec publishers, Outside Quebec publishers, or a mix of both. We also synched all the website transactions to the email marketing platform so we can take into account past orders for further personalised recommendations.
- The ultimate level of personalization we wanted to reach was that the newsletter would be sent by your favorite bookstore, if you have one because you are a returning client.
- You see on screen a newsletter sent on the behalf of la Librairie Pantoute through leslibraires.ca. And la Librairie Pantoute can add its own weekly of monthly suggestions to the picks my content team has done to feed all categories of the multiple versions of our newsletter.
- This was a quick look at of one of the means we have to make the online “shop local” experience feels like clients are dealing with community bookstores rather than with a website.
