At lunch on Friday,natasha gets a call requesting head sets for translation..it wasn’t budgeted…Nicoles says we have to do it. We’ll find a way
One of the story tellers signs in with the help of a translator
People start to arrive…we’d asked Natasha at lunch..how many will mean success….she hopes for 40..but says could be as little as 25…it has started to rain..this may lower the numbers
Making decisions about what music to play

Introducing the event and explaining the petition..in two languages
People start to arrive in waves…more chairs are brought in
The event starts out with a line dance
The crowed is now at over 100 people
Story tellers introduce themselves and their stories
The stories are screened
The crowd is rapt
All the council members invited show up..one who had said no…when he scheduled changed..called to see if he could still comeThey watch the stories
The four council members and one Parks staff person on stage for the panel
They each get five minutes

The two asks that each council person is asked to address
The crowd is asked to write in questions
Afterwards all of the council members stay and talk to community members…3 agree to be interviewedHigh lights…Moderate- I’ve lived her 20 years..never seen anything like like this…4 council members and an audiennce of over 100.Council member asks audience..who is registered to vote. Second time…question is asked more slowly..twice as many people raiser their hands..their is spontaneous applauce.One of the story tellers says a council member approached him to talk about his story and wanted more information.
