The Geats built a tall tower as a monument for Beowulf after his death, as he had requested, so that sailors could see it from far away. They worked on it for ten days and sealed Beowulf's ashes inside its walls. They also buried the treasures Beowulf and Wiglaf had taken from the dragon in the ground near the tower. Twelve of Beowulf's bravest warriors then rode around the tower, telling stories of Beowulf's greatness and glory to mourn their dead king.
