Motivation is what drives people to act. Teachers can motivate students intrinsically by tapping into their natural curiosity and making lessons interesting, and extrinsically through rewards and grades. There are two main types of motivation - intrinsic motivation comes from within and finding tasks rewarding or enjoyable, while extrinsic motivation comes from outside rewards or punishments.
