MORSE CODE
1. Morse Code is a detailed system of dots, dashes, and spaces used to
represent numbers, punctuation, and letters of the alphabet. It is used both as
a code and a way to communicate without the ability or need to use actual
characters.
2. The main benefit of knowing Morse code is the ability to send messages over
long distances (hundreds or thousands of miles) on a relatively low amount of
power. In fact, CW (Morse code) signals can be sent over much longer
distances, and at much lower power than typical voice messages require.
3. Morse Code is most prevalent in Aviation and Aeronautical fields since radio
navigational aids such as VOR's and NDB's still identify in Morse Code. The US
Navy and Coast Guard still use signal lamps to communicate via Morse Code.
4. The Morse system will be replaced by a satellite link called the Global Maritime
Distress and Safety System.
5. Is Morse code Illegal?
Yes, Morse code is not illegal. (Using it on somewhere on the electromagnetic
spectrum might be illegal, depending on the frequency, if you do not have the
appropriate license)
Is Morse code still used?
Because in International Morse Code, "S" is three dots and "O" is three dashes. ...
The Morse code alphabet has been in place since the late 19th century and is still
used today, despite our digitally dominated communications
When did people stop using Morse code?
(The American telegraph industry never abandoned the original Morse Code, and
so its use continued until the spread of teleprinters in the 1920s and '30s.)
International Morse Code was used in World War II and in the Korean and Vietnam
wars
