Abs Workout Research Paper
Abs workout and exercise routines has been researched and tested by many fitness experts and
bodybuilders. The following abs workout routine has shown to be the best in producing strength,
stability and most of all a fantastic looking stomach. It does this by allowing the twitch fibres and
neurones in the abdominal and oblique muscles to develop faster than any other routine. Below
are the ab exercises going from easiest to hardest and the explanation of how to properly execute
the movement. This could be done by men and women. Women should just halve their reps:
Normal sit up: 1. Lie on your back on the floor and hook your toes under a heavy piece of
furniture. Even better, use an ab board and hook your toes under the ankle constraints.... Show more

starting point. 6. Perform the sit up again but this time twist to the right, touching you right knee
with left shoulder. 7. Hold the upright position for a second and reverse the movement slowly
until reaching the starting point. 8. Resistance may be added by varying the degree of incline if
you are using an ab bench or by holding a weighed barbell plate behind your head. Advanced
athletes may want to do both! 9. Continue these six pack abs workout reps right and left until the
end of the set. Crunches: 1. Lie flat on your back and place your calves on a flat bench seat. Your
hamstrings should be perpendicular to the floor. 2. Place your hands behind your head with
fingers interlaced together. 3. Perform the following movements simultaneously: a. Pull your
hips from the floor using your lower abdominal muscles. b. Raise your shoulders and back from
the floor usingyour upper abdominal muscles c. Force your shoulders in moving them toward
your hips d. exhale hard 4. Hold the contracted position for a slow count of 1 3seconds. 5. Keep
repeating this movement for stated reps. Leg raises: 1. Lie flat on your back on the floor or exercise

Toy Store And Gender Project
Toy Store and Gender Project On Saturday, the tenth of September 2016 I went to Target at 5pm
with my roommates. As I walk to the toy aisle I saw parent with their young children. The store
was busy but not crowded their where about five to ten families at the toy section. The adults in the
toy section with children or without where mostly female. Target had multiple aisles for children s
toys it was divided pretty evenly between girls and boys toys with one or two aisles for newborns.
The newborn section uses primary colors in its designs of toys and is not as gender specific than the
other aisles. This idea stops as soon as the toys age range increases. The aisles amid toward the
girls filled with pinks and purple colors. The toys geared toward girls are generally dolls,
princess, fairies and animals. Then boy aisles are next and are geared to super heroes, rescue
squads, trucks, and first responders like policemen. The constant colors seen are reds, blues and
greens. The colors in the aisle reflect the socially constructed idea that colors go with genders.
The order of the aisles is as following infants, girls, and boys then comes sports equipment. The
social construct of sports is more geared towards boys and girls should stay home and care for
homely topics. Target ordered their aisles is a way that expresses societies ideas of gender; in that
girls should be closer to the home maker thing like learning to car for babies with baby dolls and

Powder by Tobias Wolff Analysis Essay
Powder
Powder is a story written by Tobias Wolff in 1996 staged in the mid to late 1950 s about a boy
and his father skiing at Mount Baker on Christmas Eve and what it takes them to get back home in
time for dinner. The father and his wife are on the edge of breaking up, although she is still angry
about him taking their son to see Telonious Monk she lets them go. He promises hand over heart to
keep him safe during the Mount Baker ski trip and get him home on time. Through the story the
father is responsible in what he feels what is best for his son.
Although it may be considered improper today for minors to go to a night club, in the 1950 s it
was very common for minors to accompany their guardians when going to the bar. Thelonious ...

The father is responsible in what he feels is best for his son by taking him to one of the top artists
of the age, speaking with confidence in everything that he does. He did everything that was

Anti Gun Policy
Gun policy is unlike any other form of public policy. The topic is rich in content, stemming
economics, history, political science, law, governments just to name a few of the disciplines.
Unlike may forms of public policy, most everyone seems to have a set opinion when it comes to
policies regarding guns. Many people focus on a desire to regulate guncommerce, possession, and
use, with most policy proposals engendering intense controversy. America is distinct from other
advanced nations because it is one of the only countries wherein the right to bear arms is
constitutionally protected. America s relationship with guns, by the numbers, is unique in a tragic
way. On an average day, 93 Americans are killed with guns and American s gun homicide

While the constitution does guarantee a right to bear arms it is still open to interpretation as to
whether it the guarantee is in place to protect private property or to be a part of a militia
protecting the USA. Either way, unlike most other nations, there is a long history within the US
that goes back to the founding of the country and like freedom of speech, the right to bear arms is
a passionate part of the ethos of the country. Therefore any attempt to regulate or denigrate that
right will be seen by some as an attack on the constitution. The most practical way to balance this
right with the practicality of today s weapons, which are much more lethal than a musket of the
1700 s, is to regulate the accessories such as bullet types, magazine sizes etc. or regulate the
process of obtaining a weapon through closing the loopholes that currently exist in the law
background checks, waiting periods, or restrictions for mentally ill or previous violent

The Woman In The Snow Short Story
No matter who we are, no matter how successful, no matter what our situation, compassion is
something we need to receive and give, author Catherine Pulsifer said. Patricia McKissack
wanted to show this theme in her short story, The Woman in the Snow by using her character, a
black mother named Eula Mae Daniels. In the beginning of the story, a racist bus driver spots
her struggling through the snow, holding her sick baby and begging him to give her a ride,
even offering him her wedding ring. He refuses and drives off without her because she does not
have money to pay for the ride. As the story progresses, she is found dead the next morning and
begins to haunt the route, killing the bus driver in a crash, continuing to haunt the route until all
drivers refuse to take it. This theme begins to develop when Ray Hammond, the first black metro
driver, sees Eula Mae on the route and offers a ride for free instead of denying her one, so she
thanked him and gave him a smile before disappearing into the swirling snow. Compassion is
always important. The author was showing that when you show compassion instead of hate to
others, they will return love instead of anger. First, Grady, the bus driver, showed hate and
prejudice towards people of color. The text reads But Grady had his own reason for hating the
route. The Hall Street Express serviced black domestics who rode out to the fashionable west end
in the mornings and back down to the lower east side in the evenings. This

Warcraft Conflicts
World of Warcraft is a virtual world in which players must deal with various dangerous situations in
a variety of hazardous environments in order to survive. A player navigates a character exploring
various terrains, slaying enemies, completing quests, and networking with other players and non
player characters. In addition, open player versus player combat is a societal norm in which
factions attack opposing factions at any given time. Throughout the game a character will develop
an identity by communicating and interacting with the various factions present in game. While, at
the same time creating numerous enemies in the effort to compete for diminishing resources which
in turn increases the potential need for war. World of Warcraft

A player must demonstrate initiative to gain the trust and support of a tribe. Though efforts against
them can prove counteractive, taking away a tribe s support and just the basis of being aligned to
one tribe over another can create this issue. This concept is put forth every day, in the principal of
creating mutual relationships in the pursuit of personal gain and can be viewed on multiple levels
ranging from communities as large as countries, to smaller interactions between business s. A
character in the World of Warcraft must complete various tasks and quests for tribes, growing
their reputation from neutral all the way to exalted within a particular tribe. On the other hand,
assisting rival factions or enemies of a tribe will make you lose reputation, eventually becoming
hated by them. The concept of the enemy of my enemy is my friend is huge in the complex
dynamics holding the world together. This concept is best shown in everyday life when nations in
the world put forth an effort, together with mutual self interest, to crush an opposition and achieve
the common goal of the collective group. The World of Warcraft exists as a fragile entity in which
value of power is sought out embracing the need for war in

The term socialist has been thrown around quite a bit in the past few years. Not since the cold war
has the term garnered so much attention in the press and from politicians. But when you look at
countries who actually have a socialist economic structure, you can see some similarities to the
United States but there are some really stark differences. Below, you will see some of the most
socialistic nations in the world today: China Denmark Finland Netherlands Canada Sweden Norway
Ireland New Zealand Belgium Despite popular myths, there is very little connection between
economic performance and welfare expenditure. Many of the countries on this list are proof of that,
such as Denmark and Finland. Even though both countries are... Show more content on

The most realistic way to devise a list of Socialist countries is to base it upon which nations have
substantial amounts of state run industry, numerous govt. social programs, or other traits which
make them actually Socialist. The following is a list of such countries with reasons for
including them. Keep in mind that this information is as of 2006, some countries may
eventually need to be added or removed from the list. Cuba: Cuba is one of the most Socialist
nations, as it has a mostly state run economy, universal healthcare, government paid education at
all levels, and a number of of social programs. It does not have a stock exchange. North Korea:
The same is true of North Korea, which has an almost entirely state run economy, as well as the
same social programs mentioned for Cuba. Like Cuba, North Korea does not have a stock
exchange. Venezuela: Economy has more private ownership, but the government social programs
are quite extensive and the foreign policy is very left wing. Cuban doctors and teachers have been
brought to Venezuela to provide some medical and educational services. China: A substantial part
of the economy is still state run, although there are not as many social programs as there once were
and universal healthcare has been eliminated. Still has a Socialist type foreign policy, for the most
part. Vietnam: A significant part of the economy is state run. Close ties with Cuba, Venezuela,

How Did The Light Bulb Impact Society
What do you think had the biggest impact on society? In my opinion I strongly believe that the
light bulb has had the greatest impact on society. Some people say that the light bulb does not last
that long for the price it costs yeah but, the light bulb was a long history of impact on society and it
also affects us today. Most importantly the lightbulb makes society better in many ways. Like it
uses less energy here s an example in the average home light bulbs and small appliances use
anywhere between 15 20 amps of electricity. That s not that much cause the dishwasher uses about
1400 amps that s insane and lights are almost always on.
First of all the light bulb has a long history first it was created in 1879 that was 138 years ago! The

First of all city s started to buy light bulbs helped people see late at night so they can stay outside
later or they can see where they are going so they do not get lost and it helped people with work
and just being inside like it helped people see what they were doing inside so they did not eat
raw meat and die or like old food like bread or meat. That really helped them also the lightbulb
helped people see when they were working late like you couldn t goo and sell or buy groceries
late at night because no one can see anything inside the sun wasn t giving the light because it was
the night time. Lightbulbs are also used in cars like the headlights in you re car or you re
parents cars and if lightbulbs were never invented the cars would not have lights on the so they
would only have to drive during the day in clear weather like if there is really thick fog they
wouldn t be able to drive because without the lights in the car they could only drive in clear days
like if there was no fog or it was really dark outside if it was dark they would not see where they
were going and then they could crash into something without the lights on the front of their car.
And also the lights on the back that show when they are reversing or stooping cause the other cars
might not know that you are backing up or stopping so they could keep going and then they would
run into the back of your car.
So that s why in my opinion I strongly believe that the lightbulb had the greatest impact on society.
Cause it has a long history being created in 1879. Also it effects our lives today. And how it makes

Nuclear Atomic Facilities And International Security
INTRODUCTION
Since 2002, when the international community discovered the undeclared nuclear facilities and the
magnitude of the Islamic Republic of Iran s nuclear programme, several international players and
Western countries have focused their efforts on hindering its nuclear agenda. Although the Iranian
government has always stressed its civilian objectives, the programme has been considered an
important challenge to the non proliferation regime and international security.
Accordingly, there has been an extensive debate among scholars and policymakers about the
consequences of a nuclear Iran, ranging from claims that it will destabilise the region to a more
optimistic view that it will ensure a nuclear balance. This essay will argue ... Show more content on

In order to address the impact of a nuclear armed Iran in the ME, this essay will be divided into
three sections. Firstly, the genesis of the nuclear programme and its main drivers will be analysed.
The second section will examine the strategies applied by the international community to counter
Iranian nuclear ambitions. Finally, it will discuss the possible consequences of a nuclear Iran,
specifically, the theoretical debate, the lack of incentives for a nuclear domino, with special
reference to Israel and others key countries and, lastly, the factors which could lead to a deepening
of the current regional instability.
IRAN S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS
The origins of the Iranian nuclear programme are found in the Shah regime, and can be dated back
to 1957 when the government signed a nuclear cooperation agreement initially with the United
States (USA), and subsequently with Germany and France. Henceforth, the regime was able to
develop a structure to support a programme, which produced knowledge and trained human
capital. The arrival of the revolution halted Tehran s nuclear aspirations for two key reasons: the
suspension of nuclear assistance from the West, and an alleged contradiction of the policy with the
new regime. Later, however, the eight year war against Iraq, acted as a strong motivator for the
regime to resume the programme. As Kayhan Barzegar stress, Iran s

Statement of Specific Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the personal learning plan I want to demonstrate mastery with my team
learning and mental model aspects. With team learning I want to create sincerity and
professionalism. Using improved discipline to accept criticism and disagreement by using dialogue
to come up with the best solution to the situation. Concerning mental models I want to be better
prepared to accept people for who they are, instead of referencing influences from my past.
Learning Resources and Strategies
I will use the following Resources to go about accomplishing each objective. To increase my
effectiveness in team learning, I can begin with reading and getting a better understanding of The
7 Habits of Highly Effective People written by Stephen Covey. For example, in the fifth habit,
Covey considers ways for effective communication. Coveys fifth habit concentrates on seeking first
to understand, but in today s world, people expect to be understood first instead. It seems the
majority of people have a reply before even giving a thought to understanding what is being said.
To be an effective leader in team learning I must get into my employees frame of mind and think

team learning weakness, will be to use smaller, more diverse groups. This

Importance Of Ethics On Accounting And Business At Large
The Importance of Ethics in Accounting Zachary J. Blake ACCT 302 B01 LUO 06OCT14 The
Importance of Ethics in Accounting Abstract: Ethics are of the utmost concern within accounting
and business at large. Ethics are the standard by which we make moral choices and decisions in our
lives. In business and accounting, ethics give external users such as stakeholders, venture
capitalists, and others a measure by which they can weigh financial statements and information to
see if they are accurately portrayed. There are many different standards which govern the ethics of
the accounting profession such as United States GAAP and European IFRS. Legislation, such as
the Sarbanes Oxley Act, has been passed to ensure that these ethics are maintained. Introduction:
Ethics are the backbone of the accounting profession and are a subject of utmost importance within
the field of business. Ethics within the accounting profession ensure that financial information is
presented truthfully. Accounting ethics deals with specific questions on whether a given business
practices is acceptable or not. To this end, many standards, principles and agencies such as FASB,
GAAP, IASB, IFRS, and the Securities and Exchange Commission have been formed to codify
and enforce these ethics. There has also been an increasing desire within the general public for
transparency within publically held firms largely due to recent corporate scandals and the general
power large corporations wield over society (MelГ©,

Synthetic Biology Therapies And Treatment Of Infectious...
To begin, synbio technology is becoming a necessity in the biomedicine and pharmaceutical
industry. Synthetic biology therapies has been developed for the treatment of infectious diseases
and cancer, as well as approaches in vaccine development (Ruder et al., 2011). As Ruder et al.
(2011) have discovered, effective synthetic biologytherapies can been rationally designed and
constructed to alter mechanisms underlying disease and related biological processes. In the process
of developing synthetic biologyfor prevention of infection, bacteriophages have been manipulated
to attack bacterial strains by disrupting antibiotic defense mechanisms. The development of these
synthetic biology therapies is essential in preventing widespread of diseases which may be
unstoppable using other means. In the case of cancer treatment, synthetic biology plays an even
more important role. Despite the success of modern cancer therapies, the major therapeutic
interventions surgery, radiation and chemotherapy still causes considerable damage to healthy
tissues in cancer patients. In this aspect, synthetic biology is no longer merely an alternative, but
more of a necessity as we need new cancer treatments that precisely distinguish between diseases
and healthy cells (Ruder et al., 2011). With synthetic biology, synbiologists are able to engineer
bacteria to target and invade only cancer cells, programming the invasion to occur only in specific
vivo conditions, as well as engineering bacteria

Ideas Revealed Within My Last Duchess
Ideas Revealed within My Last Duchess In Robert Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the author
writes of a Duke who seems to admit to murdering his last duchess. The poem starts with the Duke
introducing the painting of his last duchess to an emissary. He goes on to claim that she was
unfaithful and believes that she was flirting with the artist of her portrait. The Duke insists that he
should be the only one that has her attention. Throughout the poem, the Duke s ego is revealed and
he implies that he executed his own wife (Browning 1016 1017). My Last Duchessis filled with
ambiguous claims which calls the reader to examine every possibility. This is difficult
considering there is only one speaker, the Duke, in the poem. The three things that are
discovered when a reader dives deeper into Browning s poem, My Last Duchess , are the
dysfunction of the Duke and Duchess relationship, the reason for the Duke s vanity, and the
misrepresented Duchess. Throughout the poem, many hints and clues are given that show
dysfunction in the Duke s and Duchess relationship. The Duke and Duchess have a failing
relationship because of childlessness and lack of communication (Hawlin 146). Browning s
Duke is based off of the real Duke of Ferrara who never had any children (Gardner Duke 169).
Not only as a man but as a duke with a age old family name, not providing an heir would be
shaming. If the Duchess is fooling around , Gardner claims that the Duke reveals his impotence

Solar Electric Energy Systems
Introduction: The term photo means light and voltaic mean electricity. A photovoltaic (PV) cell
is also known as solar cell. Even though, photovoltaic effect was observed in 1839 by the French
scientist Edmund Becquerel, it was not fully comprehensible until the development of quantum
theory of light and solid state physics in early to middle 1900s. Since its first commercial use in
powering orbital satellites of the US space programs in the 1950s. While most PV cells in use
today are silicon based, cells made of other semiconductor materials are expected to surpass
silicon PV cells in performance and cost and become viable competitors in the PV marketplace
A photovoltaic cell is a semiconductor diode that converts visible light into direct current. Some
Photovoltaic cells are an integral part of solar electric energy systems, which are becoming
increasingly important as alternative sources of utility power. The first PV cells were made of
silicon combined, or doped, with other elements to affect the behavior of electrons or holes.
Having similar characteristics material, such as copper indium diselenide (CIS), cadmium
telluride (CdTe), and gallium arsenide (GaAs), have been developed for alternative use in PV
cells. There are two basic types of semiconductor material, called positive (or P type) and
negative (or N type). In a PV cell, flat pieces of these materials are placed together, and the
physical boundary between them is called the P N junction. The device is

Obergefell Vs Hodges
As a general rule, constitutional law examination differs depending on the nature of the right that
is being asserted in a case. In the Constitution people have various rights such as freedom of
speech, freedom of religion, etc. Other rights in the Constitution are not presented in the
Constitution, but they are arguably stated within its context. In this paper I will agree that the
Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges was right in affirming the equal rights of same sex
couples based on the due process clause of the fourteenth amendment. The Court s ruling in this
case has an effect on the legal rights of children of same sex couples, the rights of people who

Hodges concluded that the right to marry is a fundamental right inherent in the liberty of a person
protected by the Constitution. The Court has long afforded the right to marry constitutional
protection. But the standard test for identifying a fundamental right under the Due Process Clause
is that the right must be deeply rooted in this Nation s history and tradition (Washington Post) .
However, the majority opinion went further to find that the liberties implied within the Fourteenth
Amendment Due Process Clause have stretched to certain personal choices central to a person s
dignity and autonomy, including their intimate choices that define personal identity and beliefs
(Washington Post) . Using this idea, the majority opinion concluded that the liberty interest to
marry extends to same sex couples. The ruling has helped gay rights advocates fight more than a
hundred and fifteen pieces of legislation that were introduced in state legislatures that were
targeting gay people. The majority opinion agreed that the Constitution contemplates that
democracy is the appropriate process for change. In addition to clearing the way for same sex
marriage nationwide, Friday s decision may help end discrimination against gays and lesbians in
other matters, such as adoption and custody rights, legal experts say (LATimes) . Gay couples can
now have no problem matters when wanting to start a family because of the great decision made by
the Supreme Court. Justice Kennedy s majority opinion in the United States v. Windsor, which
struck down a federal law denying benefits to married same sex couples, and exactly twelve years
after his majority opinion in Lawrence v. Texas, which struck down laws making gay sex a crime.

predominant sexually transmissible infections during 2010 were Chlamydia and syphilis. It has
been established that the 15 to 29 year age group have the highest rates of infection and this is
continually increasing (Wilkins amp; Mak 2005). Research carried out by Stancombe Research

rates of infection of STIs but also have limited knowledge of correct safe sex practice. These
findings brought to the forefront that the awareness of STIs was extremely low, particularly
amongst the younger population bringing to attention that education about the harm associated
with STIs was and is crucial, along with informed structural strategies that help reduce the risks, if
changing beliefs and attitudes in regards to improved sexual health are to be achieved.
Undiagnosed and untreated sexually transmissible infections (STIs) have negative health outcomes

Laertes Poison In Hamlet
The image is of a bottle of poison with skull and crossbones on it. This connects with the character
Laertes, as he used poison in his attempt at revenge. The reason for the revenge is that Hamlet
killed Polonius and Laertes wants to avenge his father s wrongful death. Laertes challenges Hamlet
to a fencing match, which would most likely not be lethal, but he dips the end of his blade in
poison. During the match Laertes stabs Hamletwith the poisoned blade. Hamlet picks up the blade
soon after he is stabbed and uses it on Laertes. This leads to both of their deaths, but they do not
die angry at each other as Laertes asks for forgiveness and tells Hamlet that Claudius is tell blame.
This allows Hamlet to avenge he own father s death before

Stereotypes In Mean Girls
Stereotypically, men and women have very different roles in the eyes of society. Gender roles and
stereotypes have a history in religious, political, legal and economic systems. In reality, men and
women are more alike than most people assume. Throughout the world there are struggles with
identity, power, and violenceoccurring everyday between both men and women. The film Mean
Girls, directed by Mark Walters, follows a young girl, Cady s, transition from being home schooled
to public high school. Cady enters the school s group of mean girls, otherwise known as the plastics
, which consists of Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith. Throughout the film each
character struggles with their true identity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to the stereotype of physical appearance connected to identity, appearance is also
connected to power among the girls in Mean Girls. Because of the role appearance plays in one s
identity and power, Regina George in Mean Girls pays close attention to her appearance. While
watching Regina and her friends attend their P.E. class, Janis and Damian explain Regina George to
Cady.
JANIS: Regina George. How do I even begin to explain Regina George?
RANDOM COMMENTS ABOUT REGINA: Regina George is flawless. She has two Fendi bags
and a silver Lexus. I hear her hair is insured for $10,000. I hear she does car commercials in
Japan. Her favorite movie is Varsity Blues. One time she met John Stamos on a plane. And he told
her she was pretty. One time she punched me in the face. It was awesome.
Regina s flawless appearance established her power among other girls. Among high school girls,
power is stereotypically established through looks. As shown in Mean Girls, girls will look up
the person they feel has the ideal appearance. The random comments said about Regina indicate
that she is idolized by many of the girls attending North Shore High School. Other girls know
everything about her, because they want to be just like her. This entrenches Regina s position at
the school. In contrast to Regina and other girls from Mean Girls, the boys on the island use fear
to establish power. There are

Inner-City Community Analysis
The Baltimore city community, where I serve, is predominantly a residential neighborhood in
Baltimore, MD. Over the course of the last few years, Baltimore has earned the title of having one
of the highest homicide rates in the nation. Despite the vortex of crime and violence, there are
many contributing factors that continue to feed the murder epidemic. These factors include drugs,
educational limitations, sustainable employment, increase gap affiliation and environmental
inequities.
The is the constant reality of many inner city residents who have been cast away and left out. The
have been considered as worthless and beyond help, often labeled as troublemakers, thugs and
those people . We see the increase in crime and violence in these inner city communities and
automatically jump to places of judgement and condemnation, yet we never take the time to
evaluate the contributing factors to why they do what they do: lack of education, generational
strongholds, cultural cycles, poverty, lack of health care and so much more. Many of them feel
like they are in a fight for survival where it is kill or be killed, in a place where power and
authority is connected to fear and violence. Even these individuals need the love, mercy and
compassion as God has commanded. The only way to bring about change, there must be a change

Katha Pollitt What s Wrong With Gay Marriage
Gay Marriage
Katha Pollitt s, What s Wrong with Gay Marriage, is an article about why Gay Marriage should be
accepted without question. Pollitt views what social conservatives (530) have to say about
marriage, and how their belief that marriage is all about procreation isn t persuasive to those
outside of the right wing think tank, Catholic marriage tribunal, or ultra Orthodox rabbi court.
(Pollitt 530). Pollitt tells her readers to scratch procreation and then examines the theory that,
marriage is the way women domesticate men. Continuing with well known right winger George

The Events And Encounters I Experienced On My Practicum
Introduction The purpose of the following report is to discuss the events and encounters I
experienced on my practicum. I completed my practicum with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement,
based out of Lethbridge, AB. I completed five, eight hour shifts, totaling to 40 hours. I had the
opportunity to ride along with two different peace officers. This allowed me to see two different
perspectives and ways of thinking with regards to the commercial vehiclejob. I completed by
practicum on the following dates and times: January 22, (2016) 1400 2200. January 23, 24
(2016) 1000 1800, and February 6, 7 (2016) 0700 1500. For the duration of my practicum we
patrolled many different areas and counties. We were not restricted to a small district and had
freedom to move about the Lethbridge district as we saw necessary.
Communication
I observed many different styles of verbal and non verbal communication throughout my
practicum. On one of the very first traffic stops myself and John Remus, the officer I rode along
with, made was due to a license plate not being visible. I noticed some key aspects of non verbal
communication. Upon approaching the window of a large semi truck we were met with a young
man who was clearly nervous and unaware of the reason for the stop. John stepped up onto the
running board of the semi and introduced himself and his occupation. John then notified the young
man of the reason for the stop and asked for the license and registration for the truck. John s

Why Is Area 51 Controversial
Area 51, one of the United States more controversial sites. The reason for Area 51 being so
controversial? People claim that the United States government is hiding away aliens and ufo is
in the base. The evidence that the people claim to prove this fact is that the base is full of secrets
and very few people know what s going inside. There have also been ufo sightings and random
lights that are happening in the night. To understand the secrecy and mystery of these base we
have to go all the way back until the base was founded.
The base was first reported as actually existing in, 2013 (Blitz). The problem with this statement?
The American public knew about this site a long time before this confirmation was released which
creates skepticism. Also, no one knows what the base is working on at the moment. The fact that no
one knows what s going on inside the base gets people mad since they are using taxpayer s money
to fund the base. Another reason that fuels the argument is the extreme security that the
government employs on Area 51, cameras see every angle, on the distant ... Show more content on

What Are The Siblings Role In Fairytales
The connections that people have with their siblings is a complicated one. Some see their
counterparts as close friends that they can count on, but some lack the family vibe that people
would expect from relatives. In fairytales, siblings play many roles to progress the stories in ways
that make them interesting, exciting, and surprising. How do authors incorporate the siblings into
their stories? Are the siblings roles as important as the main character? If the siblings were not in
the story would the outcome be different? Do the roles of the siblings represent something other
than just a familymember? This paper will examine the role that siblings play in fairytales. In the

These two daughters however were different than Cinderella. They thought the stepdaughter
should have to work for her place in the family, ironically from the same situation that Cinderella
was in. One day the father left for the fair one day. Cinderella wanted the branch that first
brushed her father s head on his journey. The other two daughters after hearing what Cinderella
asked for were very greedy asking for much more than just a branch off a tree. This expands on
the point that beauty is not always a material aspect of a person. Soon after the king announced
for all the girls of the kingdom to come so his son could pick a bride. The step sisters were
excited and were anxious to win the princes heart. The Stepsisters commanded that their second
class sibling pretty them up to meet the prince. In this story the main character is taken advantage

wishes for Cinderella to pamper them. This lesson is obvious, but is there a deeper meaning to the
story? Perhaps the author wants to teach all of us that although you may not be the one receiving
credit for something. You will still be rewarded for your efforts to achieving the goal. This relates to

Evaluation Of The Clinical Reasoning Cycle
The clinical reasoning process provides a template for health professionals to use as a tool when
caring for individuals. It allows an individual to be cared for in their own way, focusing on their
own needs. The purpose of this essay is to present a comprehensive discussion and justification
identifying two care priorities in relation to Jessica s case using the Levett Jones Clinical
Reasoning Cycle while providing a critical analysis and justification of the care priorities. Two
care priorities that are evident in Jessica s situation are her desire to fall pregnancy while
suffering from epilepsy, and Jessica s non compliance to her diabetes management. The clinical
reasoning cycle is a practice based form of reasoning requiring a background of evidence, research
and scientific based knowledge. The nurse must distinguish relevant contextual knowledge and
skills and apply them to the particular person they are caring for. Jessica needs to be cared for
according to her own individual situation, rather than a generic treatment that people will similar
conditions may receive. The ability to identify gaps in personal knowledge and skills and address
these is also a crucial aspect of clinical reasoning. The clinical reasoning process includes collecting
cues, processing the information, coming to an understanding of a patient, problem or situation,
planning and implementing interventions, evaluating outcomes and reflecting on and learning

Reactions And Reactions Of Redox Reactions
Introduction:
Without the millions of chemical reactions that occur every day, life would be completely different.
An important class of common reactions includes those which involve the simultaneous transfer of
electrons between chemicals, commonly referred to as redox reactions or oxidation reduction
reactions. Redox reactions are whole reactions composed of two different half reactions known as
oxidation (where electrons are lost) and reduction (where electrons are gained) (Chemguide, 2013).
When there is an increase in the oxidation state, the reaction is oxidation; when there is a decrease,
it is reduction. Oxidation cannot possibly occur without an affiliated reduction, and vice versa.
Redox reactions are notated as such:
Cu(s) пѓ Cu2+ + 2e
In the half reaction above, a copper ion (with a plus 2 charge) is formed from the oxidation of
solid copper (with no charge). The e in the equation is an electron which is free to reduce other
chemical atoms, such as in the half reaction:
2Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ 2Ag(s)
Two electrons are added to the two silver ions in this half reaction, in order to produce a solid
silver. These two half reactions can be combined to form a redox equation as follows:
Cu(s) пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2e
2 Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ 2Ag(s)
Cu(s) + 2Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2Ag(s) + 2e

Compare And Contrast Jesus Sermon On The Mount
And Still Is Our s Today
While Matthew and Luke both describe Jesus Sermon on the Mount, each writer emphasizes
different themes of Jesus teaching and gives different messages to their respective audiences.
Matthew, likely writing for a Jewish audience, highlights how Jesus message resonated with the
poor, how his teaching was not intended to abolish the established religious law, and how Jesus
followers should live by the spirit of the law. Unlike Matthew, Luke wrote to a predominantly
Gentile audience and in his account of Jesus s speech emphasizes that Jesus teaching calls to the
poor, asks people to actively do good, and highlights the hypocrisy in his audience. In comparison,
Matthew connects Jesus teaching to the Jewish religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A prominent part of Luke s account focuses on the poor. Similar to Matthew, Luke s account
directly states the piety of the poor but his account continues to scorn the rich. Luke s gospel, in
a very direct way, blesses the poor and damns the rich. Luke writes, Blessed are you who are
hungry now, for you will be filled, and directly contrasts this statement later when he writes, Woe
to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. (Luke 6:21, Luke 6:25). Luke s account of Jesus
speech emphasises that his audience, Jesus followers, should not only love pious people, but
rather they should also love impious people. After he describes people who love and lend for
personal gain, Jesus explains that a person should love sinners and others who hate them, not just
those who benefit the person themself: But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting
nothing in return (Luke 6:35). Luke calls his audience to love everyone and challenges them to
collaborate with their enemies. Later in Luke s account, he notes how his audience identifies the
faults in others before they examine themselves. He calls his audience to purify themselves before
helping others in order to avoid hypocrisy and uses a parable to illustrate this

His body, like his mind, had turned on him; it was his enemy. (Momaday 89) From a very young

the House Made of Dawn by M. Scott Momaday, Abel shows signs of having slow cognitive skills,

Abel has never had things easy, from the very beginning Abel was exiled because his father was
not part of the tribe. Abel grew up in a tribe that did not accept him because of his mother s actions.

Ultimately, this is the first truly mature thing we see Abel do as he sits with his dying

Abel sprang into action and immediately dressed him up for the funereal and ran to go get the

is self centered and bases his responses to himself and to the outside world on his own unique
perceptions. This is exactly what Abel did. He thought this is what he should do. He had to get
it taken care of instantly. When the priest tells Abel they will take care of it later Abel is
extremely upset by this and immediately takes off running. Running can be viewed as a way for
Abel to relieve tension as people with Autism must do. Furthermore, many believe Abel s jumpy

Cost Effectiveness Analysis
Cost effectiveness analysis (CEA) is the most used technique for evaluating health interventions. In
this type of analysis, the basic question is asked, How much health benefit do we get for our
money? The purpose of the CEA is to help decision makers allocate health care resources
efficiently. In a CEA, the analyst expresses health benefits in unit of health outcome (e.g., life
saved) and the costsin dollars. They calculate a costeffectiveness ratio: the ratio of dollars expended
to health outcome obtained. The analyst compares one intervention with another, so they calculate
cost effectiveness as the difference in cost between two interventions, divided by the difference in
health benefit obtained. For example, in a study that assessed the cost effectiveness of testing
cholesterol levels in children, compared with not testing, the cost effectiveness ratio would be:

A characteristic feature of CBA is that it expressed in dollar terms, all the benefits and costs
associated with an initiative so that they can be directly compared. Policies and programs, whose
benefits outweigh their costs, generate net benefits. Compared with CEA, CBA allows you to
compare initiatives that have different purposes such as an improvement in program participants
reading scores because the outcomes have been monetized. Costs and benefits are measured over a
long term horizon, and future dollars are discounted to reflect the time value of money, that is, the
concept of money is worth more in the present than in the future. The result of a cost benefit
analysis is presented as a benefit cost ratio that indicates the benefit received for every dollar
invested, providing a bottom line summary of the net benefit to society (Cost Benefit Knowledge

he drew his last breath struck and killed Ruadon. This sent both families into utter sadness and
despair. It is said that Bridget let out a cry of sorrow so heart wrenching, everyone could hear.
This event, however, unified Bridget s role as a Goddess of peace and Unity. The two families
stopped fighting after this event. Eventually the love and respect for the Goddess Bridget
brought unity to the Celts who were spread throughout Europe. In the Christian era, 19 nuns at
Kildare tended a perpetual flame for Saint Bridget, which is widely believed to be a continuation
of a pre Christian practice of women tending a flame ion her honour. At her most famous shrine
near Kildare, Bridget taught humans hot to gather and use herbs for their healing properties. She
also taught humans hoe to care for their animals and livestock and how to forge iron into tools.
This shrine is believed to have been an ancient college of priestesses who were committed to 30
years of service, after which they were free to leave and marry. As a Goddess of childbirth and the

Long Beach Appraisal
Everyone involved in selling and buying of real estate in Long Beach has some unconditional
interest in appraisals. The result of an appraisal has something or the other to do with what the
buyer, seller, realtor, and lender are expecting out of the sale. If a property has been valued quite
low by the appraiser, the seller would then be needed to lower the market price he or she had set.
If we consider a Realtor in this case, it would mean a significant dip in commission. On the other
hand, a high valuation of a property may result in the buyer having to pay a lot more than its true
worth. In this situation, a realtor may receive high or low commission, depending on the final
selling/buying price of the property. With these situations, you... Show more content on

If you are considering to hire someone to do this job, you should make sure that you approach a
local appraiser, having a number of appraisal years in his locker. If you reach someone who has
recently received the license, you may have to bear some frustrations in getting what you
expect. However, an experienced appraiser will save you from having sleepless nights. This is
why you should always work with an appraiser who comes with all the credentials. The appraiser
may be hired, either by the buyer or the seller; for different reasons, of course. A buyer would
hire an appraiser to have an accurate assessment of property, its price, and mortgage options. On
the other hand, a seller would do the hiring to know the value of his or her property. Based on
the valuation and the areas of improvement, the seller can make amendments to his or her
property, if viable. This will help the seller in coming up to a maximum price that he or she can
get after selling his or her property. The seller would work to get the most of his or her property
and the buyer would look to pay as least as possible. In all of this, it is very important not to
forget the real reason why appraisals are done. An appraisal report features many things, most of
which are very hard to understand for a common buyer or seller. Good appraisers will ensure that
they go that extra mile and make buyers or sellers understand things that

With Friends Like These Dorothy Rowe Summary
Dorothy Rowe explores the nature of how friendships reflect our own natures in her essay With
Friends Like These... Despite powerful concepts such as validation, and jealousy, whirlpool is
the prime piece of diction. The imagery of a deadly whirlpool illustrates the central notion of
how friendships can either relate peacefully to our own sense of selves or shatter our ideas of
who we believe to be our friends. Rowe states, Early in our life our own stream of conscious and
unconscious constructions create, like a real stream, a kind of whirlpool that quickly becomes our
most precious possession, that is, our sense of being a person... Rowe takes a pessimistic approach
to the examination of friendshipby utilizing such a strong metaphor

Music in Greek Theatre and Religion
Music was a large part of everyday life in Ancient Greece. The people thought of music as a gift
from their gods, associating different instruments with specific gods. Their term for music was not
limited strictly to vocal and instrumental melody, but referred to dance, lyrics, and even poetry
reading. Music was brought into many facets of life for Ancient Greek citizens, from weddings and
funerals, to banquets and religious festivals. Education and Drama were also parts of Ancient
Greek life to which music was integral.
Many of the instruments used in Ancient Greek music were thought to be created by the gods.
The lyre by Hermes, the aulos by Athena, and the panpipes by Pan. The nine muses personified
the various aspects of music in the broader sense of the term. Calliope represented epic poetry and
rhetoric, Cleo s domain was history, Erato signified singing, Euterpe represented lyric poetry,
Melpomene s significance was in singing tragedy, Polymnia s domain was hymns to the pantheon
and to Greek heroes, Terpsichore delighted in dancing, Thalia signified comedy, and lastly Urania
represented astronomy. The nine muses were born daughters of Zeusand the titan Mnemosyne after
the two copulated for nine consecutive nights. Apollo led a chorus comprised of the nine muses, and
they are often associated with him.
The auloi were primarily used in worship of Dionysos, the Greek god of wine,

students whose first language is English, Therefore teachers do not talk clearly or slowly as all

We measured the skulls of Homo erectus, Australopithecus, Homo habilis, and Neanderthals species
by measuring the widths, heights, and length of their craniums and the diameter of the eye socket
(orbit height). We used measuring tape and calipers to measure these skulls by adjusting the
calipers to a fast, for taking a precise measurement of the skull s width, height, and length. We did
not include the fins of some of these skulls when measuring the width; because these will make the
measurements and the Encephalization Quotient (EQ) inaccurate. After we had got the precise
measurement of each one of them at a time, we used a tape measure to gauge the distance between
the ends of the caliper and recorded all the measurements on the data sheet... Show more content on

underneath all of that rage sort of fashion, he exposes Southie s grave and serious problems, all
the while maintaining that it was the best place in the whole world. We tend to marginalize the
poor, the destitute, the food stamp and welfare recipients among us. We like to pretend that they
are not there, much like the residents of Southie liked to pretend that the violence and anger and
tragedy in Southie weren t there. We like to try to compartmentalize this part of our own society,
this very real set of people who still live in our towns. Who mourn their dead at our churches,
who lower them into the ground in our cemeteries, who hand food stamps to the cashier at our
grocery stores. We have all been guilty of it. How could we not be? How could we really grasp,
realize, come to terms with, comprehend such an alien life? Michael Patrick MacDonald is our
translator. He relays the past as Southie has written it on his heart. He hands it to us in a language
we might better understand. MacDonald opens the door and invites us to sit down at his Southie

South Korea s Legal Tradition
The next nation that will be discussed is South Korea, whose legal tradition finds its origins
from Japan, but is now becoming more American in nature due to increased globalization. Korea
s legal tradition was first established 4,300 ago when the Gojoseon dynasty created its own
statutory law, heavily influenced by Confucianism and China s legal system (SpringerLink and
Yŏn guwŏn 2). (note that during the retelling of South Korea s history, the nation will be
referred to as Korea until the point at which it became separated into Northern and Southern
territories). Korea maintained this particular legal tradition, and aspects of a uniquely Korean
brand of Confucianism, until the 19th century. In 1894, the internally induced Kabo Reforms
aimed to modernize the whole of Korea in terms of legal and administrative systems, culture,
economy, and more ( Emergence of a Modern Society ). The Kabo Reforms resulted in a legal
system that closely resembled Japan s system, which followed a civil legal tradition that was
heavily influenced by Germany. Korea s transformation towards a Japanese civil law system was
further intensified and completed when it became a colony of Japan in 1910. Following the defeat
of Japan during World War Two, Korea gained its independence in 1945, only for the southern half
of the nation to fall under American occupation until 1948, while the northern half was occupied by
Soviet Russia (SpringerLink and Yŏn guwŏn 5). Now dubbed as South Korea, the

Attica Prison Riot and Prison Reform
We live in a society today filled with crime and fear. We are told not to go out after a certain
hour, always move in groups, and even at times advised to carry a weapon on ourselves. There is
only one thing that gives us piece of mind in this new and frightening world we live in: the
American penal system. We are taught when growing up to believe that all of the bad people in
the world are locked up, far out of sight and that we are out of reach of their dangerous grasp.
Furthermore, the murderers and rapists we watch on television, we believe once are caught are to
be forgotten and never worried about again. We wish on them the most horrible fates and to rot in

This led to stagflation and high unemployment. This stagflation let to the discomfort and discontent
in the prison system. Prisons felt the effects of this oil shortage as well and led to their want to
further voice their opinions. But, as if theses conditions weren t bad enough, we were also going
through a political reform as well as dealing with the end of the Great Society era. Things were
bad both inside and outside prison walls. Prisoners heard about the incredibly horrific conditions
outside of their walls and believed that they should be allowed to do, or at least say something
about it.
Conditions inside the prison were no better. For starters, many of the prisoners were those who
had committed menial crimes. Worse so, many were war heroes, back from Vietnam who couldn
t find a job and thus had to go about other illegal means to stay alive, and thus were thrown in
prison. Attica prison in particular was famous at the time among prisoners for having the most
horrific treatment of their inmates. Guards did whatever they could both legally and illegally to
keep their prisoners in perpetual fear and discomfort. The prisoners were not just treated like
children, but as animals. The one thing prisoners treasure the most is their contact with the outside
world. It keeps them sane and allows them to remain in some type of contact both with their
families as well as with what is going on outside the prison walls. But, guards did whatever

Introduction The Wawa Food Market chain is a privately held company that offers built to order

economy as well as the Canadian citizens would benefit in more ways than one from these
openings. Canada s middle class is the richest among other big nations. Since 2000, median income
in Canadahas grown 19.7%, compared to the 0.3% growth in the United States. Since Canada has
taken aggressive steps to raise their citizens take home pay, they need to spend that extra earned
income to keep the economy flowing in a positive direction.

Wawa has been seen as having a weak cost structure and having a lack of presence online as two
of their main weaknesses. The one thing you have to consider while talking about cost structure
is the quality of the product. Although Wawa is seen as having higher prices they also provide
food and services that go far beyond any top competitor in the market. A weak online presence is
not good for a company because it results in lost opportunities. Online marketing is a huge part of
business these days, and Wawa s lack thereof may be the cause of no knowledge about the store in
Canada. Social media and online advertisement goes a long way with how prevalent people are on
computers.
The online market offers Wawa great opportunity for expansion. The amazing thing about the
online market is that you can advertise to a much wider group of people for less expense than
alternate ways. This would be a great way to spread awareness of the company before
transitioning into a new economy where Wawa is unknown. Another great opportunity that has
come with the upbringing of new technology is mobile shopping. Being able to shop on a mobile
phone or laptop and have your products delivered is as convenient as a convenient store will ever
get. This tactic by grocery and convenient stores has grown in popularity and attracts clients that do
not have time to travel to the store.
Threats involve stores that already play a large role in Canada such as Mac s, Hess

Essay The Minimum Wage For Restaurant Workers Must Be Raised

The restaurant server is one of the most popular jobs in the country and according to the National
Restaurant Association, currently, 1 in 12 Americans work in the restaurant industry and about 50
percent of all adults have worked in the industry at some point during their lives. The industry is

volume of customers. But during the period between the lunch and dinner rushes and the period
after the dinner rush, generally, restaurants receive a lot fewer customers, which is something I can
attest to having worked in a restaurant this past summer. During these down periods, servers are not

In addition, restaurant business is very dependent on the time of the year. While these seasonal

in touristy regions have a tourist season, in which restaurants are usually busy, but during the rest of
the year, business declines. In terms of server wages at these restaurants, they are much higher
during the tourist season, but servers often struggle to makes ends meet during the longer offseason.
From a personal experience of working in a restaurant located in a touristy town, I found these
fluctuations in business to be a reality. I worked in a restaurant in Williamstown, Massachusetts,
which gets very busy in the summer due to a renowned theater festival. During the summer, the

Methods to Motivate Employees
Methods to Motivate Employees Barbara Snow HCS/325 August 20, 2012 Dr. Robert Perdiue
Motivational Methods Health care organizations in recent decades have found they must do more
with fewer resources, in particular fewer human resources. Economic instability in the United States
coupled with governmental changes in health care reimbursement structures have compelled
considerable reductions in force in health care organizations and in some instances elimination of
services previously provided. In this economic environment, dedicated and motivated employees in
health care facilities are the most valuable resources of the organization. However, for employees

Employees must be allowed actively to participate in problem solving and process improvements to
be engaged with moving the department forward. When it comes to personal growth, people need
to feel that they are advancing toward their career objectives and are learning and contributing new
ideas. To feel engaged at work, they need to feel that their manager cares about their own personal
growth and advancement, Kruse (2012). The concept of teamwork and personal growth has been
successful in many organizations and has been proven to improve employee job satisfaction.
Having open and honest communication with individuals and teams is another method of
motivating employees. In order for employees to be engaged in achieving departmental goals they
must feel as though they are appreciated and their thoughts and ideas are valued. A manager must
have effective communication skills with staff to build these relationships. According to Kruse
(2012), communication is critical because it forms the backbone for all other engagement efforts. It
is important for managers to create a system of two way communication and not just a method of
broadcasting information as found in many organizations. Suggestion for effective communication
include: being an active listener, using a variety of personal communication tactics, communicate

The adults in the toy section with children or without where mostly female. Target had multiple aisles for children s toys it was divided pretty evenly between girls and boys toys with one or two aisles for newborns. The newborn section uses primary colors in its designs of toys and is not as gender specific than the other aisles. This idea stops as soon as the toys age range increases. The aisles amid toward the girls filled with pinks and purple colors. The toys geared toward girls are generally dolls, princess, fairies and animals. Then boy aisles are next and are geared to super heroes, rescue squads, trucks, and first responders like policemen. The constant colors seen are reds, blues and greens. The colors in the aisle reflect the socially constructed idea that colors go with genders. The order of the aisles is as following infants, girls, and boys then comes sports equipment. • 5. Anti Gun Policy Gun policy is unlike any other form of public policy. The topic is rich in content, stemming economics, history, political science, law, governments just to name a few of the disciplines. Unlike may forms of public policy, most everyone seems to have a set opinion when it comes to policies regarding guns. Many people focus on a desire to regulate guncommerce, possession, and use, with most policy proposals engendering intense controversy. America is distinct from other advanced nations because it is one of the only countries wherein the right to bear arms is constitutionally protected. America s relationship with guns, by the numbers, is unique in a tragic way. On an average day, 93 Americans are killed with guns and American s gun homicide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the constitution does guarantee a right to bear arms it is still open to interpretation as to whether it the guarantee is in place to protect private property or to be a part of a militia protecting the USA. Either way, unlike most other nations, there is a long history within the US that goes back to the founding of the country and like freedom of speech, the right to bear arms is a passionate part of the ethos of the country. Therefore any attempt to regulate or denigrate that right will be seen by some as an attack on the constitution. The most practical way to balance this right with the practicality of today s weapons, which are much more lethal than a musket of the 1700 s, is to regulate the accessories such as bullet types, magazine sizes etc. or regulate the process of obtaining a weapon through closing the loopholes that currently exist in the law background checks, waiting periods, or restrictions for mentally ill or previous violent ... • 6. The Woman In The Snow Short Story No matter who we are, no matter how successful, no matter what our situation, compassion is something we need to receive and give, author Catherine Pulsifer said. Patricia McKissack wanted to show this theme in her short story, The Woman in the Snow by using her character, a black mother named Eula Mae Daniels. In the beginning of the story, a racist bus driver spots her struggling through the snow, holding her sick baby and begging him to give her a ride, even offering him her wedding ring. He refuses and drives off without her because she does not have money to pay for the ride. As the story progresses, she is found dead the next morning and begins to haunt the route, killing the bus driver in a crash, continuing to haunt the route until all drivers refuse to take it. This theme begins to develop when Ray Hammond, the first black metro driver, sees Eula Mae on the route and offers a ride for free instead of denying her one, so she thanked him and gave him a smile before disappearing into the swirling snow. Compassion is always important. The author was showing that when you show compassion instead of hate to others, they will return love instead of anger. First, Grady, the bus driver, showed hate and prejudice towards people of color. The text reads But Grady had his own reason for hating the route. The Hall Street Express serviced black domestics who rode out to the fashionable west end in the mornings and back down to the lower east side in the evenings. This ... But when you look at countries who actually have a socialist economic structure, you can see some similarities to the United States but there are some really stark differences. Below, you will see some of the most socialistic nations in the world today: China Denmark Finland Netherlands Canada Sweden Norway Ireland New Zealand Belgium Despite popular myths, there is very little connection between economic performance and welfare expenditure. The most realistic way to devise a list of Socialist countries is to base it upon which nations have substantial amounts of state run industry, numerous govt. social programs, or other traits which make them actually Socialist. The following is a list of such countries with reasons for including them. Keep in mind that this information is as of 2006, some countries may eventually need to be added or removed from the list. Cuba: Cuba is one of the most Socialist nations, as it has a mostly state run economy, universal healthcare, government paid education at all levels, and a number of of social programs. It does not have a stock exchange. North Korea: The same is true of North Korea, which has an almost entirely state run economy, as well as the same social programs mentioned for Cuba. Like Cuba, North Korea does not have a stock exchange. Venezuela: Economy has more private ownership, but the government social programs are quite extensive and the foreign policy is very left wing. Cuban doctors and teachers have been brought to Venezuela to provide some medical and educational services. China: A substantial part of the economy is still state run, although there are not as many social programs as there once were and universal healthcare has been eliminated. Some people say that the light bulb does not last that long for the price it costs yeah but, the light bulb was a long history of impact on society and it also affects us today. Most importantly the lightbulb makes society better in many ways. That really helped them also the lightbulb helped people see when they were working late like you couldn t goo and sell or buy groceries late at night because no one can see anything inside the sun wasn t giving the light because it was the night time. Lightbulbs are also used in cars like the headlights in you re car or you re parents cars and if lightbulbs were never invented the cars would not have lights on the so they would only have to drive during the day in clear weather like if there is really thick fog they wouldn t be able to drive because without the lights in the car they could only drive in clear days like if there was no fog or it was really dark outside if it was dark they would not see where they were going and then they could crash into something without the lights on the front of their car. And also the lights on the back that show when they are reversing or stooping cause the other cars might not know that you are backing up or stopping so they could keep going and then they would run into the back of your car. Nuclear Atomic Facilities And International Security INTRODUCTION Since 2002, when the international community discovered the undeclared nuclear facilities and the magnitude of the Islamic Republic of Iran s nuclear programme, several international players and Western countries have focused their efforts on hindering its nuclear agenda. Although the Iranian government has always stressed its civilian objectives, the programme has been considered an important challenge to the non proliferation regime and international security. Accordingly, there has been an extensive debate among scholars and policymakers about the consequences of a nuclear Iran, ranging from claims that it will destabilise the region to a more optimistic view that it will ensure a nuclear balance. Firstly, the genesis of the nuclear programme and its main drivers will be analysed. The second section will examine the strategies applied by the international community to counter Iranian nuclear ambitions. Finally, it will discuss the possible consequences of a nuclear Iran, specifically, the theoretical debate, the lack of incentives for a nuclear domino, with special reference to Israel and others key countries and, lastly, the factors which could lead to a deepening of the current regional instability. IRAN S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS The origins of the Iranian nuclear programme are found in the Shah regime, and can be dated back to 1957 when the government signed a nuclear cooperation agreement initially with the United States (USA), and subsequently with Germany and France. Henceforth, the regime was able to develop a structure to support a programme, which produced knowledge and trained human capital. The arrival of the revolution halted Tehran s nuclear aspirations for two key reasons: the suspension of nuclear assistance from the West, and an alleged contradiction of the policy with the new regime. Later, however, the eight year war against Iraq, acted as a strong motivator for the regime to resume the programme. As Kayhan Barzegar stress, Iran s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blake ACCT 302 B01 LUO 06OCT14 The Importance of Ethics in Accounting Abstract: Ethics are of the utmost concern within accounting and business at large. Ethics are the standard by which we make moral choices and decisions in our lives. In business and accounting, ethics give external users such as stakeholders, venture capitalists, and others a measure by which they can weigh financial statements and information to see if they are accurately portrayed. There are many different standards which govern the ethics of the accounting profession such as United States GAAP and European IFRS. Legislation, such as the Sarbanes Oxley Act, has been passed to ensure that these ethics are maintained. Introduction: Ethics are the backbone of the accounting profession and are a subject of utmost importance within the field of business. Ethics within the accounting profession ensure that financial information is presented truthfully. Accounting ethics deals with specific questions on whether a given business practices is acceptable or not. To this end, many standards, principles and agencies such as FASB, GAAP, IASB, IFRS, and the Securities and Exchange Commission have been formed to codify and enforce these ethics. Synthetic biology therapies has been developed for the treatment of infectious diseases and cancer, as well as approaches in vaccine development (Ruder et al., 2011). As Ruder et al. (2011) have discovered, effective synthetic biologytherapies can been rationally designed and constructed to alter mechanisms underlying disease and related biological processes. In the process of developing synthetic biologyfor prevention of infection, bacteriophages have been manipulated to attack bacterial strains by disrupting antibiotic defense mechanisms. The development of these synthetic biology therapies is essential in preventing widespread of diseases which may be unstoppable using other means. In the case of cancer treatment, synthetic biology plays an even more important role. Despite the success of modern cancer therapies, the major therapeutic interventions surgery, radiation and chemotherapy still causes considerable damage to healthy tissues in cancer patients. In this aspect, synthetic biology is no longer merely an alternative, but more of a necessity as we need new cancer treatments that precisely distinguish between diseases and healthy cells (Ruder et al., 2011). Ideas Revealed Within My Last Duchess Ideas Revealed within My Last Duchess In Robert Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the author writes of a Duke who seems to admit to murdering his last duchess. The poem starts with the Duke introducing the painting of his last duchess to an emissary. He goes on to claim that she was unfaithful and believes that she was flirting with the artist of her portrait. The Duke insists that he should be the only one that has her attention. Throughout the poem, the Duke s ego is revealed and he implies that he executed his own wife (Browning 1016 1017). My Last Duchessis filled with ambiguous claims which calls the reader to examine every possibility. This is difficult considering there is only one speaker, the Duke, in the poem. The three things that are discovered when a reader dives deeper into Browning s poem, My Last Duchess , are the dysfunction of the Duke and Duchess relationship, the reason for the Duke s vanity, and the misrepresented Duchess. Throughout the poem, many hints and clues are given that show dysfunction in the Duke s and Duchess relationship. The Duke and Duchess have a failing relationship because of childlessness and lack of communication (Hawlin 146). Browning s Duke is based off of the real Duke of Ferrara who never had any children (Gardner Duke 169). Even though, photovoltaic effect was observed in 1839 by the French scientist Edmund Becquerel, it was not fully comprehensible until the development of quantum theory of light and solid state physics in early to middle 1900s. Since its first commercial use in powering orbital satellites of the US space programs in the 1950s. While most PV cells in use today are silicon based, cells made of other semiconductor materials are expected to surpass silicon PV cells in performance and cost and become viable competitors in the PV marketplace A photovoltaic cell is a semiconductor diode that converts visible light into direct current. Some Photovoltaic cells are an integral part of solar electric energy systems, which are becoming increasingly important as alternative sources of utility power. The first PV cells were made of silicon combined, or doped, with other elements to affect the behavior of electrons or holes. Having similar characteristics material, such as copper indium diselenide (CIS), cadmium telluride (CdTe), and gallium arsenide (GaAs), have been developed for alternative use in PV cells. The Court has long afforded the right to marry constitutional protection. However, the majority opinion went further to find that the liberties implied within the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process Clause have stretched to certain personal choices central to a person s dignity and autonomy, including their intimate choices that define personal identity and beliefs (Washington Post) . Using this idea, the majority opinion concluded that the liberty interest to marry extends to same sex couples. The ruling has helped gay rights advocates fight more than a hundred and fifteen pieces of legislation that were introduced in state legislatures that were targeting gay people. The majority opinion agreed that the Constitution contemplates that democracy is the appropriate process for change. • 33. Reactions And Reactions Of Redox Reactions Introduction: Without the millions of chemical reactions that occur every day, life would be completely different. An important class of common reactions includes those which involve the simultaneous transfer of electrons between chemicals, commonly referred to as redox reactions or oxidation reduction reactions. Redox reactions are whole reactions composed of two different half reactions known as oxidation (where electrons are lost) and reduction (where electrons are gained) (Chemguide, 2013). When there is an increase in the oxidation state, the reaction is oxidation; when there is a decrease, it is reduction. Oxidation cannot possibly occur without an affiliated reduction, and vice versa. Redox reactions are notated as such: Cu(s) пѓ Cu2+ + 2e In the half reaction above, a copper ion (with a plus 2 charge) is formed from the oxidation of solid copper (with no charge). The e in the equation is an electron which is free to reduce other chemical atoms, such as in the half reaction: 2Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ 2Ag(s) Two electrons are added to the two silver ions in this half reaction, in order to produce a solid silver. These two half reactions can be combined to form a redox equation as follows: Cu(s) пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2e 2 Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ 2Ag(s) Cu(s) + 2Ag+(aq) + 2e пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2Ag(s) + 2e OR Cu(s) + 2Ag+(aq) пѓ Cu2+(aq) + 2Ag(s) A ... Compare And Contrast Jesus Sermon On The Mount And Still Is Our s Today While Matthew and Luke both describe Jesus Sermon on the Mount, each writer emphasizes different themes of Jesus teaching and gives different messages to their respective audiences. Matthew, likely writing for a Jewish audience, highlights how Jesus message resonated with the poor, how his teaching was not intended to abolish the established religious law, and how Jesus followers should live by the spirit of the law. Unlike Matthew, Luke wrote to a predominantly Gentile audience and in his account of Jesus s speech emphasizes that Jesus teaching calls to the poor, asks people to actively do good, and highlights the hypocrisy in his audience. Similar to Matthew, Luke s account directly states the piety of the poor but his account continues to scorn the rich. Luke s gospel, in a very direct way, blesses the poor and damns the rich. Luke writes, Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled, and directly contrasts this statement later when he writes, Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. (Luke 6:21, Luke 6:25). Luke s account of Jesus speech emphasises that his audience, Jesus followers, should not only love pious people, but rather they should also love impious people. After he describes people who love and lend for personal gain, Jesus explains that a person should love sinners and others who hate them, not just those who benefit the person themself: But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return (Luke 6:35). Luke calls his audience to love everyone and challenges them to collaborate with their enemies. Later in Luke s account, he notes how his audience identifies the faults in others before they examine themselves. In this type of analysis, the basic question is asked, How much health benefit do we get for our money? The purpose of the CEA is to help decision makers allocate health care resources efficiently. In a CEA, the analyst expresses health benefits in unit of health outcome (e.g., life saved) and the costsin dollars. They calculate a costeffectiveness ratio: the ratio of dollars expended to health outcome obtained. The analyst compares one intervention with another, so they calculate cost effectiveness as the difference in cost between two interventions, divided by the difference in health benefit obtained. For example, in a study that assessed the cost effectiveness of testing cholesterol levels in children, compared with not testing, the cost effectiveness ratio would be: (Costs with testing Costs without... If we consider a Realtor in this case, it would mean a significant dip in commission. The appraiser may be hired, either by the buyer or the seller; for different reasons, of course. Their term for music was not limited strictly to vocal and instrumental melody, but referred to dance, lyrics, and even poetry reading. Music was brought into many facets of life for Ancient Greek citizens, from weddings and funerals, to banquets and religious festivals. Education and Drama were also parts of Ancient Greek life to which music was integral. Many of the instruments used in Ancient Greek music were thought to be created by the gods. South Korea s Legal Tradition The next nation that will be discussed is South Korea, whose legal tradition finds its origins from Japan, but is now becoming more American in nature due to increased globalization. Korea s legal tradition was first established 4,300 ago when the Gojoseon dynasty created its own statutory law, heavily influenced by Confucianism and China s legal system (SpringerLink and YoМ†n guwoМ†n 2). (note that during the retelling of South Korea s history, the nation will be referred to as Korea until the point at which it became separated into Northern and Southern territories). The Kabo Reforms resulted in a legal system that closely resembled Japan s system, which followed a civil legal tradition that was heavily influenced by Germany. Korea s transformation towards a Japanese civil law system was further intensified and completed when it became a colony of Japan in 1910. During these periods, servers receive many tips due to the large volume of customers. But during the period between the lunch and dinner rushes and the period after the dinner rush, generally, restaurants receive a lot fewer customers, which is something I can attest to having worked in a restaurant this past summer. During these down periods, servers are not acquiring many tips, which means they do not have much to supplement their hourly wage. The concept of teamwork and personal growth has been successful in many organizations and has been proven to improve employee job satisfaction. Having open and honest communication with individuals and teams is another method of motivating employees. In order for employees to be engaged in achieving departmental goals they must feel as though they are appreciated and their thoughts and ideas are valued. A manager must have effective communication skills with staff to build these relationships.
