Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli is a renowned Russian artist known for his mosaics, stained glass windows, and cast metal sculptures. The monument to Minin and Pozharskiy was created between 1804 and 1817 by sculptor Ivan Petrovich Martos. It was the first monument erected in Moscow's Red Square, commemorating the heroes who rallied citizens to liberate Russia from Polish invaders during the Time of Troubles in the early 17th century. The monument is considered Martos' finest work for its embodiment of civic courage and patriotism.
