ISem 101: The Monsters We Make
Monster Web Page Assignment
As the culmination of our monster studies this semester, we will be creating a class
MonsterWiki to share with the world all we have learned about the fascinating
world of monsters.
In pairs, students will build a web page focused on a particular monster or element
of monster studies.
 Students are welcome to work alone if they prefer; their web pages will be
graded the same as pairs.
 If you really must, you may work in groups of no more than three. However,
groups of three must create at least one additional linking page (for a total of
two)
Choose a topic:
 Sign up for a monster on the monster wiki in Bblearn
Plan how to divide the labor:
 Discuss individual strengths and interests
 Create list of tasks and deadlines
 Assign tasks evenly between group members
Research and write content (include the following categories as appropriate):
 Historical context of the monster
 Psychological significance of the monster
 Pop culture representations of the monster
 Summary of one article on the monster
Identify visuals, clips and links
Create web page:
 If you want web functionality, use a free, online website builder and host
such as WordPress, Weebly, or Wix to create your web page. If you are not
going to use links, feel free to use Word, Photoshop or any other kind of page
layout program to create your page. You need to submit either a working
URL or a PDF document
 Include graphics, visuals, links, video clips, as appropriate.
 Break up chunks of text with headers or in different text boxes.
 Use color, typography, and layout to support readability.
